Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by pfffffffffft on Nov 13, 2008 1:44:57 GMT 1, if hirst has bough some of ur work, then well done for attracting such a high profile client however, it doesnt change that pretty much every single piece of cartain art i have seen has been poor, damien hirst buying work does not mean its good, and the fact he purchased the work that contained an image of his own work speaks volumes
I'm sorry, I don't believe for a moment that Hirst has purchased a piece of Cartrain's art.
The fact that the image is gone from Photobucket tells me there is a reason the image is gone, I'm guessing a legal reason...On top of that the image should be showing in 100artworks sold listings but again, gone.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by andib on Nov 13, 2008 8:23:42 GMT 1, Bored of this... Hirst's legal team has obtained NOT purchased the 'artwork' due to the fact cartrain hasn't the imagination to create anything remotely original and has plagiarized Hirst.
I really shouldn't rise to this, but it is fairly obvious - isn't it?

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by mcster on Nov 13, 2008 9:21:51 GMT 1, Not so sure myself. Do you think someone of Hirst's level and financial clout would worry too much about what Cartrain was doing and ask for the items to be handed over? No disrespect to Cartrain, but I would think it'd be worth more to Hirst not to look petty, it's not like he needs the cash is it?

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by silvermyn on Nov 13, 2008 10:09:50 GMT 1, Recently talks have been going on with me, 100artworks, and Damien hirsts team. Damien has Requested interested in the artworks ( For the love of God ) personally and he has now obtained them though a deal made with me. The artworks as of today are now in his possession and not much more can be said. Well done to everyone that purchased one before Hirst got involved ;D ;D ;D
Hey, a word of caution! This Hirst guy cuts things in half and then puts them in tanks full of formaldehyde.
Would you be happy with Hirst abusing your work in this way...?

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Poppy Sunshine on Nov 13, 2008 10:11:47 GMT 1, The jury's out on whether this is a true story or not but I can tell you that Hirsts legal team and employees would definitely pull any work they are not happy with for a fact. I was selling some of the pharmacy wallpaper a while back and on 4 occassions it was bought and not paid for by someone from his office. I had several very snotty and legal emails telling me it was illegal to sell it and that they wanted me to take it to their office to be destroyed and to give them al the names and addresses of people who I'd sold it to and to give them the info of where it came from. That's how worked up they got over a bit of their own wallpaper so I imagine they'd be pretty annoyed about people nicking ideas and making money. There's obviously a much bigger legal story with the wallpaper and pharmacy issue but you really would think someone with so much money etc would have something better to do than chase Cartrain. Don't forget Hirst has nicked a lot of his ideas from other people eg the design for Valium, and has said himself in interviews that lots of art is stolen from other peoples ideas and reinterpreted. Regardless of your view, I think Cartrain has to be admired a bit. He's only young but hasn't taken to heart the slaggings off he's had from some forum members and has stuck at it. A hell of a lot more kids would have knocked it on the head and signed on the dole by now.

I stand corrected then, Hirst (or his team at least) are that petty to chase Cartrain ! Totally agree about having respect for Cartrain, whatever your views on his work, the guy has balls enough to carry on despite the knocks. I've read other posts where some forum members say they have felt intimidated by others, so for an artist showing your work it must be 100 times worse.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by silvermyn on Nov 13, 2008 10:44:30 GMT 1, Recently talks have been going on with me, 100artworks, and Damien hirsts team. The artworks as of today are now in his possession and not much more can be said. Well done to everyone that purchased one before Hirst got involved ;D ;D ;D
My concern would be that Hirst has now obtained the work (For the Love of God) and he/or his team may be thinking about sticking it straight on eBay with a considerable mark up.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by gozgoz on Nov 13, 2008 11:33:28 GMT 1, im not a fan of cartrains stencils at all. And i rarely join in the slagging match save for that one time when cartrain saw someone get stabbed.
But its really appalling how everyone here is so friggin critical and skeptical of Cartrain. Why cant you guys just let him be. Seriously.
Well done Cartrain - not for the whole damien hirst thing. But for being able to put up with all this nonsense from all the haters here. I'll have thrown in the towel ages ago.

people are critical and skeptical of cartain because, his work is pretty much the worst example of urban art on the forum, he is protected by silky, he only because famous for tagging other peoples work and his work is vastly overpriced and poorly done
all in imo obviously

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by dmandpenfold on Nov 13, 2008 13:12:42 GMT 1, doesn't matter either way if Damien Hirst has bought it because he likes it, got all legal over it because of copyright infringement or whatever.... i still dont intend to buy because it's not my bag.
I couldn't give two hoots what Damien Hirst buys whether it is an Emin, Warhol, Banksy or a piece from Mr Train, he's not my personal art adviser, i'll buy using my own judgement of what looks good and, even better, has some value as well. I wouldn't buy half of what Hirst produces either not that i have the money to do so. I couldn't get a shark in my living room even if it is only half a shark.
So if Hirst bought a piece of work from Cartrain, i am sure he'll feel pleased and proud to tell all as he should, in that case good luck. If its been taken off the market for other reasons it would be a shame that Damien Hirst is stamping all over artistic freedoms and equally shameful that it has been made out to be something else.
By the way did Damien Hirst buy up all those skulls with sweets stuck all over them??

No disrespect to Cartrain, but I would think it'd be worth more to Hirst not to look petty, it's not like he needs the cash is it?
Very much so IP rights are being inforced more so than ever. Go buy yourself a microsoft related domain name and wait for the letter! I can see the email Dear mr Cartrain, give us all your screens and we won't sue you. If your lucky they might pay for P&P.
He'll probably use the prints to wrap his next carcas on the way home from the abatoir.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by underpaidartist on Nov 13, 2008 20:07:57 GMT 1, Its been like reading an exciting novel only to find the last page missing. It was an exciting announcement that begged some curious questions and although there was understandably great enthusiasm and the desire to share the news with all of us to begin with in such an interestingly ambiguous manner no-one has come forward since with equal enthusiasm to give a clearer explanation.
has the question been answered anywhere. did Damien Hirst buy the work or confiscate?
I's love to find that missing page.

If you just type in from the quick reply box just use either side of your link that'll do the same
I know it's a minor thing but it means you can post a link of any size that works properly

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by master on Nov 13, 2008 21:58:14 GMT 1, I hope the BBC have got all relevant legal clearance for Pudsey's new look this year or there's going to be a nationwide spate of lawyers wrestling men in bear suits to the ground at charity events
LOL!

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by baileymontana on Nov 13, 2008 22:21:58 GMT 1, Come on Cartrain or 100 Artworks let us know. Did Hirst buy or confiscate?
Cartrain, I like that you get out there but don't let potential sales make you spin things, just tell us the truth, leave the spin to politicians. I find it more interesting if Hirst has confiscated your art than if he has bought it.....might not add as much value but a better story IMO. It's a bit more street art if you are annoying someone rather than selling to them.
