Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by a4mnt on Jan 11, 2009 18:29:47 GMT 1, Dear Cartrain
I would assume you are reading this thread.
Why don't you put all this negativity to bed and stop all the bickering by actually going away, thinking outside of the box and coming up with a genuine, interesting and clever artistic idea, which is well executed and equally well placed in the urban landscape.
Its not a race, so you have as long as you need to do this.
This may then raise your profile for the right reasons and not for your current plagerism which will not benefit you in the long run.
I would also be interested in when you are planning to have a proper show as well, as I would be keen to view your works for myself in person.
Yours sincerely
Crackawacka
PS - please ensure that free beer is supplied at the show otherwise I cannot promise my attendance.

this happens every month silky you havent answered the question about why you love it so much ........ frankly we all know it is fucking shit, it actually makes me sad that we are discussing this when say say Ilcane is showing an amazig show at carmichael with real skill and talent....
and levi you got ripped a new asshole on wallk andy because those people thought your work to be trite, unoriginal and not very well executed. this thread will expand to 10 pages of cartrain bashing ans him and silky have exactly what they want - which is trying to create a new contoversial brand within the street art cannon, and we are folls becuse we can't see it and bite everytime.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by hellothere on Jan 11, 2009 18:39:02 GMT 1, un-original and very simple. If you do have fans, I don't feel it is fair on them to put so little into it, almost insulting. My opinion without trying to insult. Hero why don't you and cartrain do a collab? Cartrain's work may be derivate and amateurish to almost painful degrees but really, LEVI C, you are very much the pot calling the kettle black...
Do you mean things like this?

well put

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by neale on Jan 11, 2009 20:37:21 GMT 1, God, this is a sad thread, curiousgeorge is spot on in my opinion, have a look on the New artists link.. theres much worse stuff on there that everyone seems to love, probably because they get them free. Give the kid a break, at least he's out there doing something.. have a look at what your own contribution to street art is before slagging him off. Its easy to sit at your pc and be a critic.. its not easy to creat and sell art.. get over yourselves

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by loucastel on Jan 11, 2009 20:37:28 GMT 1, Well, Well, Well, look who's back, cant stay away eh!!, and it's the official Cartrain hater himself, couldnt believe what I saw you had under your posts on WK, you are more of a kid than cartrain, I'm not a lover of his work, but at least he trys, why not just say "no thanks not for me" and move on, no for you that would be too easy! You can't stay away from WK either can you, sidneyco, you're such a hypocrite, you're even standing up for Cartrain's work when you don't actually like it.
Just because I have the car crash syndrome with WK, I dont see how that makes me a hypocrite, I wasnt the one who threw their toys out of the pram and deleted your account and lost all your points, sob, after all you did have the most, lol, and say "thats it I am never coming back to that $%%^^^& place again", I think the besty thing for you to do is crawl back under your photocopier pal, and get a grip on reality rather than bitching to some young artist, I know you will read this because you just cant help yourself, ha ha ha !!! Keep up the good work Cartrain. might be tempted by one of these myself. that reminds me ,I must pop over to WK and do a bit more posting, lol.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by dill on Jan 11, 2009 20:40:52 GMT 1, .. i thought one of the points of the Hirst spot prints was that every single spot was a differen colour?... am I right?.. if so Cartain seems to have taken the easy route and repeated the same colours ad-lib... which seems to miss the point of the original he is parodying

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by My Name is Frank on Jan 11, 2009 20:55:09 GMT 1, Bit of a hijack, we made this in response to Hirst's spot prints. Called Contemporary art makes me feel so hollow. It focuses on the fact that most contemporary art is essentially no more than an aesthetically pleasing design with no real meaning. It was aimed at Hirst and the spot paintings and prints.

Agree that is really well put and people should think about that point.
Hellothere - bit of a cowardly dig at my stuff that, so you don't like it thats cool. Like someone mentioned, the important thing to me is I also get compliments from people that like it.
example - You posting my website led to 2 enquiries about buying my art. Thanks for your support

Why? Would you hang it? What is the appeal?
Not having a pop, but aside from posts defending Cartrain's tenacity, I haven't read a single comment that justifies a defense of his art.
Reading plenty of WK v Silky/.Info comments and a whole load of rhetorical bollocks, but the fact still remains that no one has countered a reasonable argument to my claim that,
'... the actual form is bland and meaningless. It offers very little stimulation to me and frankly it strikes me as a piece of extremely boring and immature art, displaying no development or innovation from the artist'
My opinion is based purely on taste, therefore it's subjective and open to a counter argument. The fact that there hasn't been any reasonable support of this piece of work however, suggests that you all know deep down that it is a poor quality piece of art with no more merit than an average piece of Christmas wrapping paper.
I'd like to add that giving the kid a pat on the back for producing crap doesn't do him any favours. You'd be better off adding some constructive criticism. It avoids the Emperors clothes syndrome.

Cartrain π¬π§ Tate Gallery β’ Damien Hirst β’ Gilbert & George, by Deleted on Jan 11, 2009 21:29:34 GMT 1, I like Cartrains work because I feel sorry for him being buillied - awww poor diddums - c'mon guys u can try harder than this, give me ONE count then ONE reason why I shouldn't say this is a banal (altho not as banal as one lc's posts); derivative; poorly thought out; dull; piece of so called art. Could not care less about the conspiracy theories, just can't think of one piece of Cartrain's work that says 'I'm doing something worthwhile, i believe in'.

Firstly, I must apologise if you found one of my posts banal, or in any way punitive, (note to self, must try harder next time). you can also say whatever you like about this thread, I for one have no intention or desire to convince you one way or another, I also dont see you deriding any other artrists on here, maybe you think they are all exceptional, ehh! perhaps you should go and do some more posting on the big brother thread!!!
In answer to your question, Baznyc, yes I actually would hang this on my wall, for several reasons, one, my first love is contemporary art, hence my liking for a lot of Hirst's work, the similarity but also the dissimilarity between cartrains piece and the other spot paintings is tight in context and very much like myself, simple and uncomplicated, for me the colours work well, and also the subject matter, the encounters that cartrain has had with hirst in the past, by taking one of Hirsts most recognisable works and turning it to his own advantage, is what art is all about, for that he should be aplauded, I hasten to add that this is the first work by Cartrain that I can say this about.
