Record Store Day came into being in 2007 when over 700 independent stores in the USA came together to celebrate their unique culture. The UK followed suit and 2012 will see the fourth celebration of the UK's unique independent sector. This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, meet & greets with artists, DJ's, in store quizzes and many other events.

RECORD STORE DAY 2012, by ricobenfico on Apr 16, 2012 21:48:10 GMT 1, Hey fingerz, there was a thread about this either last year or the year before. That's how I found out about it. Certain record stores have special releases and limited editions but the reason for having this day means that unfortunately the stores are few and far between.

RECORD STORE DAY 2012, by supercockle on Apr 21, 2012 12:14:39 GMT 1, Ought to have read your thread when I saw it yesterday, rather than at 11.45 today. Might have given me a chance of getting hold of some of the many that I was interested in. Only record shop partaking in Wakefield is That's Entertainment and I suspect they probably wont have had anything in the first place and if they did, 12.14 is probably not the best time to think about buying.

Did you get the Bowie and/or Sex pistols 7s"? They went immediately! I was amazed the Bowie was £16 new though!!!! I think the record industry is using today to make shed loads of cash! Good for the shops though.....

RECORD STORE DAY 2012, by Deleted on Apr 22, 2012 0:34:22 GMT 1, In addition to the records being sold in your independent record stores for RSD... there has also been a sale of Secret 7"

RECORD STORE DAY 2012, by Pistol on Apr 22, 2012 7:42:25 GMT 1, Just noticed this thread, was at my local store yesterday at 04:30 and got 4th place in the queue, managed to bag everything I was after. Quite a giggle I think I am becoming a serial queuer, a tad worrying but worth it if you want something strong enough. Anarchy and Starman were my main wants but also got Bob Dylan, T Rex and Beatles box sets along with the Cult, Morrissey and Gorillaz singles and a great Pete Townsend Quadrphenia Demos box set. Also the Clash and Marylin manson singles. Got back home at about 09:00 a happy man. Then watched Arsenal and Chelea draw, Newcastle beat Stoke, and Spurs lose to QPR giving the mighty Toon a champions league spot in the league. Went to bed last night a happy man
