I like this piece i think it is cool , and raises good points, but should the child been Oriental looking, Most of B's figures (children) all look like black kids anyone else think this? Not that this is a bad thing or anything of the such , so just incase anyone thinks my comments are racist or anything like that , they are not and im purely wondering?

Sometimes your posts are quite astute, this is just a little bitter. Lack of posts? Since when has this forum been a judge of anything via post count? I'm sorry you've mixed this place up with a forum dedicated to the discussion of street art. Also this hasn't been posted in the main discussion area. Also historically check which gets more posts a street piece or a print. Onto the image, looks like its been hurried which isn't a bad thing, it could actually mean its illegal. And whilst biting at the society and value set we live in,remains likeable enough not threaten. Not wholly successful, but still a great way to underline he's not gone. Nice one. Oh and have been asked the following - fragile could you please credit where you get this info from ie. the twitter feed etc. Ta.
To me this is Banksy just going through the motions. An obvious sentiment at an easy target. And while the message is worth saying, Banksy's past work puts this to shame. There is really nothing in this that other artists couldn't do.
I think Banksy's anonymity is now working against him. Look at what other artists are producing in terms of creativity and scale. The admittance into the main stream of 'street art' has allowed this to happen, but for Banksy it is still a quick hit and run stencil. He is capable of much better work than this, and on a much bigger scale. I hope we'll see some soon.
Unfortunately too many people immediately jump up and down at the sight of a new 'Banksy' and start wetting themselves at how brilliant it is and how it might lead to a print.

I'd happily pay a few hundred quid for a Banksy, but the chances of me scooping one from source are nigh on nil, so I'd end up paying in the thousands, not hundreds. It's a simple, but strong image that would work well as a print.
Compared to some of the unorginal tat that's being peddled about at the moment crazy sums of money, a few hundred for this image by the UK's premier Urban Artist (that's my opinion) would be a steal.

And with that the system comes tumbling down. The inability of the banks to control their greed has done more to curb consumerism than Banksy ever will.
It's all a bit tired isn't it? I don't expect all his work to be ground breaking, but when compared with his work in the past this just doesn't compere.
Look at the size of the wall - why are there not lots of children working at machines? Work on a bigger scale than a single stencil hurriedly sprayed on a wall, more concerned about protecting anonymity.
I expect something more because he has set such a high standard. And if the people he's now working with ( if any ) aren't up to the job then get people in that are.

If the artist fell short in anyway on this run, is by not adding the flags of many other nations to the physical display as well as some product brand images; as well as maybe a few pics of our faces as the consumers - to represent the full spectrum of support for child labour exploitation. It is no easy topic, but great to see a reknowned street artist still has it on mind - makes a difference.

For me, the ability to accurately depict the race of a kid in a stencil is pretty amazing, and just testament to his ability as an artist. Everytime i notice the race in his piece i have a more in depth look and see what it is in the picture that gives me that impression.

yes it is and thankyou for taking the time to explain yourself. This doesn't feel like standing still to me, the detailing and the type of message has altered over time, but it's still part of the same body of work - which is fine for me (if not for you). As for scale guess that is dependant on doing a piece with permission (see CCTV) or doing it quickly without (perhaps this). If I'm honest I'd rather the quick smaller piece heralding back to the earlier era and to my mind more legit street art. This won't be a print.

what c**t , how does taking this give you any satisfication , If you like Banksy work surely you leave it, If there was a Banksy piece placed on the street on metal or wood etc, then of courrse i understand that this would likly be removed, but generic flags from a pound shop or whatever its just idiotic and shows the people to be so money driven that they are blinded at how stupid they are by doing this
