New Banksy in London?, by boatyyy on May 18, 2012 7:26:06 GMT 1, well, in some respects happy to read some of this work is secured, behind perplex or otherwise, to some degree... may sound strange or silly, but some of this is like modern day hieroglyphics... get that most street art, these days, will be removed... but some of it, the history of it, could/should be preserved too (not for financial gain)... some pieces are a mark of our times...
dunno, just another useless, not so fully thought out thought, in a time when so much means so little... and from someone w/o sleep for days...
PLEASE somebody go down there and paint a big white mug around it, so it looks like one of those knock-off mugs on feeBay. I'd do it myself, but I'm miles from London. And I have a fear of being arrested. It seems sad that it's now "protected". Does anyone know who arranges this protection?

New Banksy in London?, by yeah on May 18, 2012 10:30:53 GMT 1, Not sure who arranged the 'protection'; presumably the landlord who owes the wall.
I know who did the perspex, because they inserted their business card under it. TheY were called 'Allseal Glass'. I took it out yesterday and chucked it. The last thing we need in the world is more f'ing advertising, especially in all the photos of it...

New Banksy in London?, by nipper on May 19, 2012 7:56:44 GMT 1, I found a Radar Rat on the wall near Starbucks on Victoria Street on Thursday night. A fake I'm sure as it wasn't there last time I walked up that road ..... and because Fragile hasn't posted a picture of it!
I'd post a picture if I could still get it to work from flickr.

No. Owning the original doesn’t give him rights over the image. I assume he knows Banksy though, so this might be some kind of inside joke... or just Ron using a well known “pop” image as part of his own piece. I find it a little odd.

I believe you are right, I remember reading that Ron English bought this Banksy work from someone who had removed it from the streets, and Ron English made a huge point about buying it simply to whitewash it, in order to make a statement of how wrong it is to take something from the streets and sell it, when it belongs in the street, if it is removed, then it is better off destroyed. It was being sold for something like $750,000 so I really thought he would go through with it, or else what was the point? Lol

New Banksy in London?, by pellets on Mar 13, 2020 8:12:15 GMT 1, Something about this riles me. Banksy’s piece was bringing attention to sweatshops and all Ron can think about is how angry he is that someone removed some concrete and dry paint.
Way to stop the profiteering by paying someone £730k, you really stopped them in their tracks...

Fat bloke is doing it cos he knows that although it is in breach of copyright meaning that only the creator can give permission for a derivative work to be made from the original. That there is no way that Banksy will go the copyright route.

Ron English likes money. Despite having enough money to buy this Banksy. He set up a crowd funding on kickstarter or some similar site trying to get 30K to produce some sort of vanity music CD.
He also was happy to go to Dubai and paint walls there and promote Dubai.
www.popaganda.com/ronsnews/dubai-walls-street-art-hits-the-middle-east/
It's ironic that English has rehashed this Banksy as some sort of virtue signalling about slave and child labour.
Hmm wonder how he didn't know about slave labour in Dubai?

"Dubai sheikh was to force his 11-year-old daughter to marry MBS, UK court hears"
Dubai’s sheikh was allegedly lining up his 11-year-old daughter to marry Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, who is 22 years her senior, a UK court heard yesterday.
Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum reportedly discussed the agreement in February 2019 which would have seen his daughter Princess Jalila – aged 11 – married to Bin Salman. The case was brought to light by the girl’s mother, Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, in a British court yesterday, as part of the marital feud between her and Al Maktoum. Princess Haya fled the UAE last year and filed for a divorce in the UK; she said the planned nuptials were a key reason why she ran away.
The billionaire ruler of Dubai has previously been accused of kidnapping his daughters; in 2000, Sheikha Shamsa Al-Maktoum tried to escape from her father’s $130 million estate in Surrey, UK, when she was 18-years-old. Shamsa was found in nearby Cambridge and forcibly returned to Dubai where no news has since been heard about her and where she is said to have been imprisoned and beaten.
