Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by troika49 on Apr 1, 2023 13:12:23 GMT 1, Beautiful earlier Damien Hirst edition with his iconic dots laid out in a grid...
It is located in Sydney Australia and framed in museum glass with conservation ragboards/tape. Frame alone was nearly $2K in cost. Framed size is 1190 x 920mm. The glass almost disappears on the framing.
Looking for $2500AUD/$1700USD + applicable shipping/payment fees. Pricing includes the frame. Local deal preferred.
Condition is overall good but has a few small handling/storage marks and a small crease on an edge. The edge crease isn't visible as it is matted. Can send more details to serious buyers.
Recent results: Forum Auctions--> 3800GBP Lyon & Turnbull --> 1100-1750GBP
From this exhibition: www.macroasilo.it/mostra/nucleohistone-a-postcard-from-damien-hirst-nucleohistone-manifesto-di-damien-hirst
Details of the item:

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by esfer on Apr 2, 2023 0:35:52 GMT 1, So I searched Nucleohistone by Damian Hirst and it turns out they are all printed right on the absolute edge of the paper. It could be this has slipped just slightly or maybe it's just the angle of the image? Search for yourselves you'll see what I mean.
I don't think this is an April fools joke after all...but I do think choosing to mount this with a mat board was an error. It should be float mounted for best overall look.
Good luck with your sale.

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by troika49 on Apr 2, 2023 0:53:15 GMT 1, Thanks for your interest.
The image/dots actually go right to the edges and there is no margin. The matt on the bottom was made 1-2mm larger at the bottom to better hold the piece in place. Originally the matt window on the whole piece had the same margin but the framer decided to trim the other sides. I actually never noticed it until someone pointed it out and I called him. The image itself has not been trimmed incorrectly or slipped in the frame. Only the matt window has been modified.
It looks worse because the photo is taken at a steeper angle below the item as its hung roughly 2m off the floor in a landing. I have a great relationship with my framer and if it's a huge issue I can get the matt trimmed the extra 1-2mm as well as show detailed images of the edges/corners with a serious buyer.
Most of my collection is matted. Due to the size and nature of the paper on this piece it is hard to keep it in place without using quite a bit of Japanese hinging tape so I didn't go for float framing. The paper edges on this piece also are of no special interest to display (i.e. not hand torn etc) and I don't think matting it detracts from the image. The effect Hirst is going for is a field of dots with a geometric grid where none of the dots are exactly the same colour as well as the sheer scale. The image grabs you and appears to move if you see it in real life.
I believe this framing unit can be mostly re-used for float framing and I can get a quote for a serious buyer if that's an issue...
