Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by speebe on Mar 20, 2012 23:51:58 GMT 1, Point one... search2.hmrc.gov.uk/kb5/hmrc/forms/home.pageInput the form code BOR286 (that's a letter 'O', not a zero) and download the resulting (one page) form. It's very straightforward. Give as much info as you can and ensure you've saved customs forms that came on the packaging etc. The import code that our imports qualify for 5% VAT under is 9702 00 00 - limited edition print hand pulled by the artist in limited numbers. Specify the print run etc. Hope this helps HB It is a simple form but I worked a 12hr day and was stuck in traffic for 2hrs before work. SO Just to get this clear in my delicate state.... & I know I'll sound dim asking for clarification for this but I'd rather ask and send the form once! Name of Importer: Is that where I put Steve 'ESPO' Powers First&Fifteenth name and address??? VAT Registration Number (If applicable) Is that the '9702 00 00' number for etchings/litho prints etc Any further guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by Hubble Bubble on Mar 21, 2012 8:58:02 GMT 1, speebe -- craigf is correct. VAT reg number is if you are claiming back VAT. You are not, rather you are claiming you have overpaid your customs duty. So leave the VAT reg number blank.
Charge reference number will be at the top of your parcelforce notification and will begin with EC. When you fill in the ''please explain" bit, mention the code your artwork should have been imported under, take a photo of it, photos of customs labels etc. Any info that shows you know what you're talking about.
cheers HB

That sucks- i take it Steve marked the value of the print as the original (for insurance purposes) you could try to claim the full tax back with evidence to support that its a replacement (email from steve confirming its a replacement any pics of the damage print would help) . Otherwise its a matter of just claiming back 75% of the Β£26 fee (although 8 quid of this is probably parcelforce handling charges)

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by nathzz on Mar 21, 2012 15:51:39 GMT 1, Im really confused about the charges on this. the handling fee is 13.50 and the import vat is 12.56. my last was 30.66 and 8 handling. 2 completely different prices. take it ill have to pay and claim back the charges. although paying 2 handling charges sucks.

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by Hubble Bubble on Mar 21, 2012 16:23:42 GMT 1, Okay guys . It's quite simple. Parcelforce have two handling charges for items that need customs clearance. Β£8 standard or Β£13.50 express. Steve sent the replacements express but the originals standard. It seems he didn't mark the replacements as replacements, instead choosing to mark it as a gift valued at $50 ( a lower valuation than the original prints). Customs being customs have obviously levied charges on this, choosing not to believe the 'gift' description.
So I'm going to fill in three forms and send them to customs requesting the following.
Print 1 - 75% of customs duty refund please Print 2 - 75% of customs duty refund please Replacement for print 1 - 100% of customs duty refund plus refund of Β£13.50 parcelforce handling fee as this item should have been customs free and therefore not charged a handling fee by parcelforce.
Parcelforce confirm that their fees can be and are refunded by customs.
Go get your dosh! I'll report back if and when I get mine!

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by speebe on Mar 21, 2012 18:28:59 GMT 1, Thanks HB & Craig... Nice but dim yesterday! My form's filled in and the print is due to arrive v-soon... Fingers crossed it's minty fresh, as I can't wait to see it and don't want to have to email Steve if it's not.
I hope that Mr Powers has not been put off from releasing prints himself after all this drama?!?

I think the hold up was sending these flat- the tubed replacements seem to be arriving a lot faster- My flat pack arrived yesterday in mint condition- sending flat is ideal for going straight to the framers. Notch this down to experience -USPS international priority = it'll arrive when it arrives. Next Espo release i for one will be more patient (if im lucky to grab one!)

Steve Powers πΊπΈ ESPO β’ New York Street Art β’ New Release, by nathzz on Mar 22, 2012 15:52:23 GMT 1, 75% form filled in no probs. When it comes to claiming back the full amount of the replacement, am i right in thinking that we need to use form C&E1179? If so, do the goods need to be inspected before disposal? if so ive already ripped mine to shreds? :S
