Great restraint on your part. I would name and shame.
Sorry, you're dealing with this. Super shitty

Dran exhibition in Paris, by Layaway Days Art Blog on Jul 7, 2017 0:36:50 GMT 1, In my opinion he's a genius and does what ever he wants And why shouldn't he He owes u all nothing
It seems a little hackneyed to play the artist hates galleries/flippers/commercial aspect of art. And while I don't disagree, treating people poorly is a disappointing choice

Dran exhibition in Paris, by Layaway Days Art Blog on Jul 6, 2017 7:37:30 GMT 1, Wow that story is amazing, intense and a little all over the place. So sorry you had such a crappy interaction. I was so worried the first time I met my the street artist that got me into the street art world, because I know what it's like to meet someone I look up to and have them be a huge let down. I hope the experience hasn't ruined his art for you. Poor guy sounds a bit tortured. Admittedly, I was pretty pissed off for a good year or so. Recently, I've been diagnosed with major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder, so I am in a quasi-unique position of understanding. Based on what others have stated, he may be struggling with his own/similar issues.
In saying that, I'm not sure I'd buy anything. If an 'Exhibit' came up at a good price, it would likely be in my collection, but I don't see that happening, so likely won't have to deal with it.
An apology would be nice but he probably a) doesn't remember and/or b) doesn't give a shit.
For the most part, the artists I've spoken with, have been amazing. Most are extremely accessible and friendly. The only artists that I thought were jerks were my fellow Canadian Sandra Chevrier and Jeremy Mann. All has been over email, so that could be part of it. Save

Dran exhibition in Paris, by Layaway Days Art Blog on Jul 6, 2017 5:07:25 GMT 1, Hi I think Dran is the most difficult artist to contact directly and he wouldn't "sell" anything. He is discreet, Doesn't like the art world and the money around, he is focused on painting and has been pissed off by some greedy gallerists in the past. He now protects himself behind trusted people. If you want this piece, secondary market is the only way in my view. I don't know if I'd contact him, directly. It ruined him for me. Long story short, I contacted him about a piece that I loved that pictured a macaque with 'Human Sucks' written on it. I asked if he'd release it as a print etc....We had a bit of back and forth and I told him how much I loved his work with primates, as I'd studied primates in Central America and Africa. Off hand, I mentioned that my dog had recently passed and then offered to send me an original. I offered to pay but he didn't want money. A few days later he asked that I give him my number. He called and we spoke for about 30 mins and it was primarily him yelling at me for telling him about my dog and trying to get free shit etc...It was bizarre, as I had just asked if he was making a print of the piece and told him how much I liked his work. We had some banter and then HE offered to send something. I said no at first and then offered to pay. Such a strange interaction. This was 6 years ago, this month. Still don't have any Dran in the collection. It sucks, as I really like his art but have no idea why he decided to go off on me. Save

Jeff Gillette ๐บ๐ธ Dismal Exhibitions โข Art For Sale, by Layaway Days Art Blog on May 29, 2017 22:01:39 GMT 1, I think that's a fair point.
Anyone associated with Banksy, even in the slightest (Outis, Gillette, Gonefellow etc..) gets played out so quickly. Prepare to see a bunch of these Dismaland/rat scenes. The difference being it was the other way around. Banksy associated himself with Jeffs work that he'd been doing for years prior to Dismaland and which, in part, Banksy used elements of for input into Dismaland. The Minnie Hiroshima canvas in the gallery space at Dismaland (which Banksy purchased prior to the show) that was also used for the show poster was painted years before. What Jeff is painting these days is pretty much what he's always painted. Dismaland, as it would, had an impact on him and he's similarly used that influence in some of his art. One of the hardest working dudes out there considering he's still a college art teacher as well. Save

Nick walker louboutin edition 50, by Layaway Days Art Blog on Apr 11, 2017 3:33:36 GMT 1, The TMA series is what lead me to this forum. I've had NYC, Paris, and Moscow, as well as the triptych and Ratatouille. I have since, sold it all. I almost bought the book/plane print last week but thought better of it. Can I just ask, 'what the hell has happened to Nick Walker?' Who is buying this shit? FFS!!
I still think some of the monotone w/gold paint TMA's are amazing, but enough with the unfunny cliches and hearts. Less travel, more time spent thinking/creating. But the devils advocate says, he doesn't need to. To frame most of his works (including the print), it's about $1000 at drop and even more on the secondary.
If I ever have a chance at a TMA for $500, I'll probably pick it up, as I do like the series. However, Nick Walker is now the Snoop Dogg of urban art. He started out with a smash, but is now cheesy as fuck. This print on wood, is the metaphorical cooking show with Martha Stewart. Nick, turn down the suck!! Make some nice TMA's and/or some works, make them affordable, and come back to us!!!

What else do you collect?, by Layaway Days Art Blog on Dec 30, 2016 4:04:25 GMT 1, I vacillate between a few different hobbies. The first is game-worn NHL hockey memorabilia. My favorite player as a kid was Olli Jokinen from Finland. My collection can be viewed at hockeyandart.weebly.com The other collection is watches. Right now, my collection consists of one watch: An Omega Speedmaster Reduced (Automatic). I have owned a vintage Rolex in the past as well as an Omega Seamaster. Really like Glasshutte and Lange & Sohne but cannot afford one. Maybe a pre-owned Navitimer or IWC at some point. I get the watches, my holy grail was an Omega Seamaster PO which i've had for a few years , I then got a Panerai and thought it would stop at that, got a G-Shock, then a Swatch and then a Breitling Avenger Seawolf II, hopefully thats it for a while. I've recently found a love for mens fragrances and started to get a nice little collection going, features mainly Creed and the Tom Ford private blends. Once a collector always a collector of something . Agree. Always collecting something. I really want an IWC Portuguese but cannot justify $5000 on a watch. Maybe pick up a pre-owned Breitling Navitimer at some point. Maybe a vintage Rolex again. Really like Zenith as well....expensive world this! Save

WHAT ART WILL YOU BE AFTER IN 2017?, by Layaway Days Art Blog on Dec 24, 2016 5:57:04 GMT 1, Maybe this will be the year that I finally buy....
From Lazarides:
1) Lucas Price - Teenage Phantasm #102 2) Michael Muller/Sage Vaughn - Attack #1 3) Xenz 'Now Here?'
From Secondary Market:
1) Journey print - Ian Francis 2) Exodus - Josh Keyes 3) Cops/Robins standard ed. - Penny 4) Charming Baker - 'One or Two Cats', 'Sorry', 'War Child', 'Throbbing realization....'
From Artists: 1) More hand-finished/embellished prints
2) Herakut print (their work is so good but their prints are so unappealing)
3) An apology from Dran for calling me in 2011 and yelling after I emailed him to tell him that I liked his work. I really liked the 'Human Sucks' piece with the rhesus macaque. We had a few email conversations and this was around the time my childhood dog died, so I mentioned it...and I think sent a photo. I think he thought I wanted to get some free work from him or something, there was something lost in translation obviously, my French is shit. Never meet your heroes. To this day I still don't have anything of his on the wall. Exhibit is one of my favorite pieces, by any artist. But even if it were free, I wouldn't want it - until he apologizes for being a dick for no reason.
4) Word To Mother - really like his work. 'Aint no city like mine' and the one with London written across the top are amazing. I hope he makes prints of some of these images.
5) Just see what's released and hope my F5 works...because you c**t with the hookups and bots always beat me
