Is FAILE over?, by davievegas on Aug 11, 2017 19:35:13 GMT 1, Loyal until they can't even break even when re-selling. That seems to be the case as of late. NO ONE sane will spend $500 on something from an artist which they cannot at least get their money back. No one's making money collecting faile anymore. Past sales with auctions and ebay prove that. way to go with the over generalization, my comment exactly said that, people who still collect Faile do it for the love of their art and not "getting their money back", flippers are starting to fade out but their art still sells. Hype collectors might be concerned with their market but I'm not one bit. Over generalization? Faile has been around so long that they will never blow up bigger then they are. Its downhill from here. They release too much art and do not have the secondary market hype anymore because of the cash grab releases. People are not dumb. They can see the artists selling trends. The I only buy what I like answer is old now when it involves higher prices. Some can afford it but its an easy pass for most if they do not love the image or meaning that the image stands for to them.
If you buy art specifically because of hype for artists (Not saying you do Cal) whether they are old or new, you will get burned unless its investment artists like Banksy, Invader etc. Your dreaming if you think people spend $350 - $500 on just collecting work with no investment interest on a regular basis. This board hides plenty phony ulterior motives. People try and act like they just collect what they like but the price you spend on the work tells a different story. $100-$200 on occasion I can see but not at the prices of $350 - $500 for large and sometimes open editions.
You see the auction results within the last 2 years? You see the releases just sitting instead of being sold out right away? No image originality anymore. High editions. Nothing lucrative about Faile's work as the years go on. Has nothing to do with flippers. Has everything to do with the fact that Faile has officially stop caring about the image choices and started caring more about cash grabs. Like most artists that have had a long profitable career, they seem to be relying on old style and crappy image choices rather then progressing and moving fwd.
Taking advantage of people never ends well. YOU NEVER see a release with an edition of 25 or 50( even 100 is rare) from them. Always 300 or open editions. Its a joke for the prices they charge (with exceptions to the 150 series). So you keep on collecting since you love the fact that they are just riding the coat tails of there previous hype/fame and you will end up losing money and stuck with high priced paper on your walls.
PS. It is not just them. Its most successful artists that take advantage of mediocre work because they sell out all the time. Whether its flippers or investment collectors, these artists quality of image choices will keep declining because of flippers/investment collectors. False success with buyers who buy to make money from them. Its sad really. False perception that people are buying specifically because they like the work. But artists do not care. They care only about the money. When that stops coming in, maybe it will change.
Btw, This response is because I disagree with your over generalization comment because I have been paying very close attention over the last 4 years with many artists on this board (includes auction sales and private) and the direction Faile has been going is just for profit and not about the future.

Is FAILE over?, by davievegas on Aug 10, 2017 18:05:50 GMT 1, lol pioneer in their domain, stayed true to their style while still evolving and proposing new body of works, fair to say they're alright. The hype might not be the same it once was but most of their current (extensive) fan base doesn't care about that and are loyal collectors. Loyal until they can't even break even when re-selling. That seems to be the case as of late. NO ONE sane will spend $500 on something from an artist which they cannot at least get their money back. No one's making money collecting faile anymore. Each print is signed and numbered. Available at 3pm EST today Friday June 2nd. MORE INFO of this another beautiful art pieces AT WWW.Hidden Prints.COM Have a good weekend!! The price is laughable lol. $950? Ya, good luck with that. $500 would of been the best price point for this. Seems Mr Brainwash is not learning from his longer then usual selling out time with the past couple releases.

New Faile print May , by davievegas on May 10, 2017 19:43:57 GMT 1, You guys are funny when it comes to your speculation. Making lots of prints does not harm nor does it help an artist long term. Don't believe me? It's believed that picasso has upwards of 180k prints in circulation. He's not the only one either. In fact, one might argue that being prolific is a must if you're going to be a successful artist. And also, someone made a comment about how the prints take longer to sell out. Again, a quick sell out doesn't make a good artist in the way that a slower sell out doesn't make a bad artist. And if you think quick sell outs matter and invest in that way, you might learn that the hard way. You know who has had quick sell outs on here? Eyesaw. Tabby. Other names that maybe 100 people outside of this forum have heard of. As far as I can tell, sell outs mean nothing and slow sales mean nothing. But I'm happy to listen if someone wants to counter that... [small edit: picasso made 180k prints, not 80k] You seem to be really focused on my "Taking to sell out longer" comment so Ill explain it further. That was said to explain that the images faile has been choosing the last couple of years are sub par to be nice. The quality is always great but the important of that is small when they have always had great quality. Its expected. Your comparisons with Tabby, and eyesaw selling out is not comparable. For one, Tabby and Eyesaw's price points are cheap so the risk of collecting them is not high. They look great on the walls and at that price point people can buy without worrying about the investment.
The casual art collector who does not want to spend hundreds or thousands on something for his/her walls cannot approach this in that manner. As for value, you have to just do a little bit of research on failes trends the past 5 years. That includes Auctions/ebay sales/private sales on boards and of course hype/interest in failes work. Originals and low editions are where its at to collect if you are looking for value with them. If not, then the prices that these oversaturated image prints cost need to drop. They do not sell out fast because the images and the price point along with edition size make no sense.
Obviously some peoples bank accounts are healthier then others so if you can afford it then great but every single release(With exception of 150 series) that I can remember has been high editions and priced at $350-$500 with the same type of images. The iimages get busier and busier or cluttered. This goes back to my point of "If its selling out the artists are not caring or do not know if the work is sub par or not". Artists are making there money and with faile each release is making them 20k-30k per release. Not 100% sure of the total but estimating. How can an artist know if the image is not a great one or popular one if just because of his brand, it is still selling out? The strength of artists work will just get worse over time. We see it with brainwash, eelus, dran, pose, maya hayuk even invader with that garbage marlboro print. I do not care what the inflated prices are going for now on invader. NO ONE liked that print except for smokers and die hard invader fans.
Obviously not everyone is going to agree with me on the artists I have used for comparison but everyone has their own comparisons and imo the time taken to choose images or the lack of effort because they are selling out has severely dropped the collectors interest per release. You cannot make an image that everyone likes but at least take the time and not throw out same type of images over and over with small adjustments. That is where I feel the problem lies. Selling out every time the artists drops just because its "Faile" or "Brainwash" or "Invader". I am not using Banksy because he does not release work anymore.
Obviously you can see the stronger images/low editions are very valuable. What happened with Invader in my opinion was long overdue. His prices should of spiked long ago. But to expect that is like discovering a Rainbow unicorn.

New Faile print May , by davievegas on May 10, 2017 17:51:30 GMT 1, This boys are releasing far to many prints in my mind , saturating the market. Shame as they use to release great prints in small editions Unfortunately this is why failes value does not do well anymore. High print editions with saturation makes for a lethal combo. If you buy art just to buy art then great but most people buy art with the hope of value going up in the future. I own 4 faile prints and the prints are between 2-5 years old and the value has either stayed the same or dropped. Every new release the prints tend to take longer and longer to sell out now a days. Shame. Best to own there low edition prints or originals now a days. In my opinion all failes work the past couple years have been looking the same. Auction results are hit or miss with them as well. Nothing consistent. Same type of "girl" on a lot of the prints and I already have 2 out of 4 with the girl image. Tired of it even if the quality is great and looks nice on the walls.

New Faile print May , by davievegas on May 8, 2017 19:54:55 GMT 1, Another pass for me if that is the image. Too many artists are making images way too cluttered for my liking these days. If this is the image then Faile needs to change up some things. Choice of Images are starting to look too similar imo.

Julien's is auctioning off my collection on May 11., by davievegas on Apr 26, 2017 21:55:19 GMT 1, This whole board is a walking contradiction. No offense to .dappy . I feel he is the one that gets the brunt of it all since he seems like the most active guardian on the board. But this board does not really have rules anymore. The owner Daniel Silk does not police it. He leaves his guardians out in the wilderness to be attacked by wolves all the time about the "rules" with no response when certain weird situations come about. Just collects advertising money from banners etc. Everyone is starting to realize that selling anything on here is more of a hassle then not. The one thing you can expect from this board is the consistent low balling because buyers always want some sort of deal on here. Like its a privilege to sell here lol. Also, I have noticed more people being scammed on here and it seems to be growing and this boards reputation is not what it use to be. I see more price manipulation by posters with less then 1 stars or posters with less then 1 year old accounts on here more and more. Flippers are coming in droves and that means more money for Daniel. I post less and less on here now a days. ONLY thing that is a consistent joy on this board is finding out the drop dates/times for artists releases. I personally do not see any issue with posting an auction house on the boards. EVEN IF your personal pieces are in it. If he would of posted the pieces individually, then I would of said that was not right. BUT I can see how people can easily have issues with it. It really comes down to how each person perceives it. Just my Two cents. Why tag .dappy but not Daniel Silk ? I tried to tag him with @danielsilk but it didnt show up so I skipped it. I am not gonna research to tag someone. I see its Daniel Silk . Why does it matter. I have tagged Daniel in these kind of comments before and he has no interest in responding to anyone on here. I am not the first to say this either. Wont be the last.

I personally do not see any issue with posting an auction house on the boards. EVEN IF your personal pieces are in it. If he would of posted the pieces individually, then I would of said that was not right. BUT I can see how people can easily have issues with it. It really comes down to how each person perceives it. Just my Two cents.
This whole board is a walking contradiction. Bast • Visconti Print, by davievegas on Apr 12, 2017 22:28:58 GMT 1, How dare anyone come on these boards and try to sell something for a price they choose! Break out the pitch forks less, teach him a lesson! I was selling on behalf of a friend but not only will I not do that again, but I wont try to sell anything on here in the future. I sold one print on here since I have been on this board and I sold it for cost. But I am at work and do not have time to constantly "stick up" for my friends wishes. Anyway it SOLD. He got what the current value is for it and the new owner got the print he missed out on. Congrats to both

question re: "trying here first before taking to ebay", by davievegas on Apr 12, 2017 21:57:01 GMT 1, You can sell things much easier on ebay then you can here. All you get here is unwanted opinions and tons of crying and people wanting "special" attention. Whether thats an extra poster or best offer when they know what the price is from EB and ebay. On ebay at least your covered in case something goes wrong. On here not so much.

For = with*. I am highly educated in ebonics which is why I can understand that. I am not into telling friends what they should or shouldn't do with there money. You might be but we all do not do that here in the US. So people that are having problem with speaking English are having a mental breakdown? Take your imaginary flipper friends and f** k off. Like I said. Mental breakdown. Lots of medical bills in your future.

Bast • Visconti Print, by davievegas on Apr 12, 2017 21:45:59 GMT 1, I see your registered just last month on here. Therefore you don't knows**t. I have been a board member for a lot longer then you and knew the outcry I would get on here for doing so. I have been here for along time and never have flipped one thing. Matter of fact, I think I have sold one print since I have been on here so say what you want but that LITERALLY does not apply to me. Ooh an oldie with three stars, woaw. Then you definitely should know, to tell your friend to not buy art for his girlfriends money, the odds she might not like it is quite high. And the poor guys then needs to sell it for profit. -bu f**kinghu You seem to be having trouble speaking ENGLISH. You Ok? Mental breakdown? Learn to type before you attempt to b*tch and moan. Flop-Flop Isn't all these "girlfriends" and "wife's " fed up being accused to have a cack art taste? Stand for your own misstakes you greedy fuck. I see your registered just last month on here. Shooting the messanger in this instance is not bothering me. Other people's wishes. So if your not interested, then do not comment. I understand all the heat this price brings but once again, Its his wishes and its the price it sold for on ebay. If no one is interested, then so be it. Ill just relay that message.

New POSE print, by davievegas on Mar 24, 2017 21:52:47 GMT 1, I already know his amazing work in person. I own Blot and HF Burn and Dude. This is truly hard for me to even look at. I have no idea what is going on and I personally do not like how cluttered it all is. Colors are great but I do not buy stuff based on the colors. This new direction of his is not my cup of tea. This is almost unrecognizable compared to his very popular early images. Glad you like it. You should buy what you like Davie, agreed, always buy what ye likes. Funny, we have the same prints (blot, HF burn and dude). I hear ya, some of the newer pieces have been a bit more cray compared to the more portrait based feel of earlier works. What I meant about the colors is the mono approach which inkart kindly referenced in the images he just posted. Grounds the work and gives it a more subdued, nostalgic mood to me. Respekt Don't get me wrong. I do like the mono much much better. I guess I am a bit let down for my taste since in the early stages of his work, I was soooo into his image choices etc. I May be out growing his direction. IT happens more often then not for me to be honest. I like consistent work. I do not buy every image of course but when an artist switches direction too much for my liking, I start to collect the work less. Just me though.

New POSE print, by davievegas on Mar 24, 2017 21:47:03 GMT 1, His work is getting more cluttered for my liking. His direction is gojng opposite of burn and blot which was a fantastic start. When you see the difference in the print vs the painting, you may surprise yourself. Pose scaled back the color which gives a controlled-chaos feel. I'm digging the image and the toned down palette in this one (disclosure: I picked one up).... I already know his amazing work in person. I see plants and an eye/hand and more plants..WAIT, I see BOOBIES...I do like the mono much better. Glad you like it. You should buy what you like
