Banksy โข Sale Ends Today, by mlocks on Nov 20, 2017 0:27:15 GMT 1, For what it's worth I've been posting Sale Ends want ads on this forum and other for many years. It's by far my favorite Banksy print. story checks out! just saw your box... interesting/cool story.ย did they give you a coa for that?
Unfortunately not, but PC did finally get back to me with an email regarding my Sale Ends and the two other "box top" prints that came from the show (Morons and Trolleys). They confirmed "these works were categorised as proofs, neither for sale or gifted." Just as well since I don't plan on ever selling it anyhow.

Banksy โข Sale Ends Today, by mlocks on Nov 19, 2017 15:06:24 GMT 1, Fuzzy, I am not talking this down because I didn't get one, and for the others sure I realize there are theories and manipulation etc. While I don't understand the "price" what I am really baffled by is the demand. While it's slightly different, there has been at least some precedent as this image has been out there for a long time and I don't think I have ever seen a sale ends wanted thread ever in 4 years. If this many people loved it, surely a few could have found one before this batch I'm genuinely glad this many people on here got one. Seems like a lot of longer members did but a decent amount of new members got this as well. I of course put in but I would not put this on my wall, just saying.

Banksy โข Sale Ends Today, by mlocks on Nov 18, 2017 23:07:12 GMT 1, How can people value a print that was released last week for ยฃ500 at ยฃ30k. It is an edition of 500. You can get a signed b&w trolleys from ed of 150 for less than that! Madness ๐คช People are greedy and deluded. There are numerous signed Banksy prints with far smaller editions depicting a more intrinsic images on the market for much less than ยฃ30k.....I fail to understand why this print would command double some of his earlier more established prints....oh wait, it doesn't. I can guess where it will slot in price wise once they start hitting the market and it won't be anywhere near 30 grand. Madness you say? These prints were sold at their original price in 2006. Anyone who thinks a 6,000% gain in just over a decade is madness hasn't been following today's art market. I just heard about a previously unknown Banksy work of questionable provenance that recently sold for a 4,500,000% gain over the same 10 year period. Some of you may be familiar with the piece.

WCP The West Country Prince, by mlocks on Jan 6, 2017 12:31:57 GMT 1, Over 500 positive feebbacks from mugs who are happy to buy fakes ..... hold on a second let me take this seriously.... you should be banned on here. Hi my friend, don't skip me if you please ;-) Just you know, I don't understand why you and some others speak about " fakes " for the WCP prints .. When I bought some ( I was one of the first, and I am not naive , it is clearly said in the annunce ) , it was not to have a Banksy, or a similar one, to impress guests or I don't know what, it was just to put one in my son room and the other one in my daughter room ( anyway I like Banksy ideas, activism , walls, provocative mind, and words, videos, some artworks or canvas etc.. but I don't like so much B. Prints apart the fabulous Monkey Queen and rude Coper , maybe some others too -the VIP ones Per example - that I can't remember ) .. Just saying , as we say in horses racing, there is no photo, we clearly see that this is not Banksy prints even if the paper and ink are quality streets.. This is true, but then again with a daguerrotype the horses would be invisible and weโd only see the stands.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by mlocks on May 20, 2016 16:49:50 GMT 1, Unica Correct me if I'm wrong here, but looking at the foam slices on the side of the work, it would suggest that the box has been left in tact and that the foam has been hollowed out to accommodate the box and create a make shift frame? mlocks ? In which case, serious kudos. You are correct. The box is still intact and can be removed from the framing if necessary. It actually required stacking two frames because of the depth. The underside of the box is supported by foam core to prevent shifting inside the frame. It was a creative bit of framing and it took awhile to find the right solution. Happy to be able to share with all of you here. Cheers.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by mlocks on May 19, 2016 15:34:02 GMT 1, What's the history of this piece, with the packing tape affixed, etc? Love it! One of a kind Banksy piece from 2006 Barely Legal show in L.A. finally back from custom framing. Very pleased with the results.
I live close to L.A. but missed out on the pre-party for Banksy's Barely Legal show back in 2006. Most everything sold out before the show even started, but luckily someone I know was there when people were picking up their prints and he noticed that some of the boxes being used to carry the prints had a "proof" taped to the box top. After some negotiation with a staff member he managed purchase a few of the boxes with the prints still attached (Morons, Trolleys, and Sale Ends). He sold the first two prints quite some time ago and finally (thankfully!!!) decided to let this one go as well.
I ended up making the decision to keep the print attached to the box top (thank you, 11 , Coach , laurentbaboo , @nordicstar ), but as a result it took me awhile to find the right framer with a concept that would both protect and display the piece "as-is". Having finally found its way to my wall at home I can honestly say that this one has been well worth all of the effort, patience, and long wait.

Top 3 Street Artists of the Year 2015, by mlocks on Jan 8, 2016 21:46:34 GMT 1, 1010 Ben Frost Alex Garant Brett Amory Jessica Hess
Not all of these necessarily fitting neatly into the category of "street art" per se, just some of the artists that I've been following more closely this past year.

The Role of PR in Street/Urban Art (or vice versa), by mlocks on Jan 7, 2016 12:14:32 GMT 1, When an artist puts their name out there in the form of street art, that is advertising. Taggers, street artists, whatever you want to call them, want put their name out there as many times a possible, in as many places as possible, to get their name out there. While they may not be selling a product, they are selling their name. Right? Otherwise, write in a journal or work at home. Right? The point is that many of these artists want people to see it. As is natural for an artist. And IT IS A GOOD THING BECAUSE I LOVE ART. But it's advertising too, no? As Fake said, it isn't a dirty word. Short of leaving the work unattributed, which some artists tend to do from time to time, it's impossible for a street artist to exhibit their work without exposure to the public - such egalitarian element being an inherent component of the movement itself. So you would be correct in stating that the general public is temporarily "forced" to view and/or contemplate (and maybe even enjoy) a piece of street art, much the same as everyone being compelled to endure a never ending stream of Kentucky fried chicken and boner pill advertisements.
The obvious distinction between the two being that one simply adds beauty, humor or social commentary to the world (and in the best instances all three) at little or no cost to the consumer, while the other acts as an involuntary means of manipulating, exploiting and controlling the public purely for monetary or political gain. The more corrupt and insidious injustice being that the powers controlling the latter of these two purposes have in most cases deemed the former purpose to be illegal and punishable by way of criminal penalties, which is complete bulls**t, much like the notion of street art being likened to fast food advertisements.
Or to put it more poignantly:
"People are taking the piss out of you everyday. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply youโre not sexy enough and that all the fun is happening somewhere else. They are on TV making your girlfriend feel inadequate. They have access to the most sophisticated technology the world has ever seen and they bully you with it. They are The Advertisers and they are laughing at you.
You, however, are forbidden to touch them. Trademarks, intellectual property rights and copyright law mean advertisers can say what they like wherever they like with total impunity.
f**k that. Any advert in a public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. Itโs yours to take, re-arrange and re-use. You can do whatever you like with it. Asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head.
You owe the companies nothing. Less than nothing, you especially donโt owe them any courtesy. They owe you. They have re-arranged the world to put themselves in front of you. They never asked for your permission, donโt even start asking for theirs."
-Banksy

What makes people like Banksy works so much, by mlocks on Jan 7, 2016 11:02:45 GMT 1, At least one of the following propositions must be true: 1) The fraction of all human level civilizations that evolve to post-human stage is very close to zero; 2) The fraction of post-human stage civilizations with individuals interested in running ancestor simulations is very close to zero; 3) The fraction of all people with our kind of experiences that are currently living in a simulation is very close to one. Something for us all to ponder while we queue for the next print release. Perhaps, but I will likely be too focused on fighting my way through the digital masses so that I may attain more imaginary artwork from imaginary artists. After failing miserably, I will then console myself with the knowledge that regardless of which proposition ultimately comes to pass, it is of no consequence - just as the initial question asking "where will it all end" is of no consequence. The real question being whether I will be prepared when the creator decides to close the curtains, as it seems rather obvious that when Banksy delivers his final swan song he will likely be taking everything and everyone with him on the way out.
In other words, the end will closely resemble that of Matthew 5:5, albeit in a more poetic fashion.

What makes people like Banksy works so much, by mlocks on Jan 7, 2016 9:05:25 GMT 1, Overpopulation and a desperate struggle for resources. Or perhaps something like a Gamma-ray burst? My guess is when the universe collapses upon itself in the "big crunch" or when someone remembers to turn off this silly simulation. At least one of the following propositions must be true:
1) The fraction of all human level civilizations that evolve to post-human stage is very close to zero;
2) The fraction of post-human stage individuals interested in running ancestor simulations is very close to zero;

What makes people like Banksy works so much, by mlocks on Jan 6, 2016 2:13:23 GMT 1, Not sure really, is he the best at what does?, by far?. To be honest, i don't think so. There are other artists who are better in painting with a spraycan or stencils Still i love what he does... Indeed. Although he was not the first to make such an attempt, and despite him not being objectively the best from a purely aesthetic perspective, Banksy's work possesses such a degree of raw creativity, clever wit and deeper social purpose that it has successfully sparked a public art revolution; one that blurs the lines of fine art, commercial art, and industrial art in such a manner as to meaningfully subvert the long standing status quo - perhaps permanently and hopefully in increasingly important ways. It is for this reason, the neoteric yet palpable schism in defining what it means to be an artist that leads me to continuously admire his work.

Pest Control COA โข Banksy Print Authentication, by mlocks on Jan 6, 2016 1:21:43 GMT 1, Still waiting as well. Original enquiry sent July last year with a follow up e-mail in November. I don't want to be a bother, as I know they are backed up, but has anyone else had luck recently and if so what would you suggest? I have a rather unique piece, so that may be part of the delay, but I'm also somewhat anxious about them actually receiving all of my information. Thanks in advance.

Banksy โข Sale Ends Today, by mlocks on Oct 1, 2015 22:36:04 GMT 1, I was the $7.5k and can confirm that it went to $8k then back to me, then back to $8k. I guess the first bidder backed out but I'm not sure because it happened so quickly. Anyway I'm still around if there happens to be one out there for around the same price.

Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas, by mlocks on Sept 18, 2015 7:11:51 GMT 1, So I have seen posts, the artists are arriving and starting, now I received an email stating there will be a Banksy installation. What this means I have no idea but they have added him to the website!!! lifeisbeautiful.com/artists/banksy/From the email: "EXPERIENCE LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL Life is Beautiful will transform the streets of Downtown Las Vegas with over 80 musical acts including Stevie Wonder, Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar and many more. Don't miss out on culinary demonstrations and a nationally recognized learning series featuring Bill Nye and Rosario Dawson. The magical festival village spreads across 18 square city blocks filled with world-class street art including a very special BANKSY installation. Place your order by Saturday 9/19 for wristband delivery to avoid the lines. Don't miss out on the best music, art, food and learning Downtown Las Vegas has to offer." There is no mention of this installation at the link posted above. Any other news on what this is all about?

Mr. Brainwash "Charlie" , by mlocks on Sept 18, 2015 6:52:19 GMT 1, MBW seems to be very hit or miss lately. This being squarely in the miss column for me. Even if I happened to like this image there is no way I could hang it without upsetting my pet rottweiler - she hates Nazism, Communism and all things Whatsonesque.
