Damien Hirst - The Archangels, by damo on May 4, 2024 14:58:29 GMT 1, Tbh I donโt really have the time or interest to argue semantics with you. You said โthey are gradually going downhill and starting to ruin the art marketโ so I was mocking you for that point. I donโt particularly like being dismissed as a โHeni cheerleaderโ, I donโt particularly like the dibond, but I know some people do, I choose not to be critical of what people like but maybe thatโs not your mantra. You made a point in response to a comment I made, which was wrong (re UPs going to NFT holders) so I responded. Then you have redefined that argument a couple of times which is cool, to move it onto different points. Anyway, we disagree, itโs all good. Iโll leave you to have your final word, and then everyone can get on with their day. Youโve done quite well at wasting my time by keep having to set things straight. Sorry, you think it was an argument - I wasnโt arguing with you, unless you thought you was arguing with me. ๐ค I still donโt think you can read correctly ๐ค as I never said all UPs went NFT holders. I used a quote from someone else and said the UPs went to โwell known Heni collectors and / or old NFTs membersโ. To help you out, I have highlighted both times and circled the and/or. Honestly, this is really dull. I promised you the last word in this 'discussion' because you strike me as the sort of person for whom that is important. I dont know if you are trying to change the point you originally made to look smarter, or i read your point incorrectly. Tbh I dont think it really matters either way. At the end of the day its a forum, we have different views, on different things. I mean, for example, you dont think i can read, and i think you're a pompous tit. Who is right, who is wrong, who actually cares? Anyway, enjoy the rest of your day.

Damien Hirst - The Archangels, by damo on May 4, 2024 14:28:57 GMT 1, Yep, Heni single handedly ruining the art market. Itโs quite the feat that. Do tell us more though? Now I know you donโt hate them and are a previous customer I can take these views as impartial and balanced I never said โsingle handedly ruining the art marketโ so donโt make things up! There are plenty of galleries/publishers when they get too big that are ruining it as they have to be more financially focused. However, Heni mass producing dibond prints (that depreciate in value) is not helping the art market. Or, do you believe mass producing dibond prints (that depreciate in value) is helping the art market? Tbh I donโt really have the time or interest to argue semantics with you. Damien Hirst - The Archangels, by damo on May 4, 2024 13:33:31 GMT 1, I just wanted to point out your incorrect point re the UP, dressed up as a fact. Anyway I just posted a view. I get it you hate Heni, I quite like them tbh, always been decent to me. Each to their own.

Damien Hirst - The Archangels, by damo on May 4, 2024 13:13:31 GMT 1, Also Heni wont โlike flippersโ, thatโs a stupid comment isnโt it? It doesnโt pass the most basic logic thought process, suggesting you weren't really thinking before saying it? Flipping = ARR* so part of their business model and was a VERY insightful comment and not a flippant comment. Itโs also a reason why Heni invest in publishing reports with secondary sales. (* for members who are unaware, ARR is when Mr Hirst earns up to 4% extra royalties from auction sales) Over time yes, but not straight after release. I think youโll find if people want to sell these within the first year or two they would prefer it done through themselves (hence offering that option), when they start hitting auctions after that your point has validity. We are talking in the here and now though. My apologies for questioning your โVERY insightfulโ point though

Damien Hirst - The Archangels, by damo on May 4, 2024 12:53:44 GMT 1, Itโs a shame they are being meticulous by probably just offering to โwell known Heni collectors and / or old NFTs membersโ. The application didnโt gather much information so they can only assess whether someone is a previous customer or not (based on address and email). When Heni dropped the Currency UPs to โwell known Heni collectors and / or old NFTs membersโ they landed with โfar too many peopleโ who got them to flip (and a lot who are on the Discord and then flipped). Heni havenโt got a clue whether the people who buy their artwork actually keeps it or flips it. Unless they pop around to everyoneโs house for a stock take, they will never know. In fact, they should probably be more suspicious of the people who buy every release. The reality is that Heni actually like flippers as they have never done anything about it. Itโs too early to assess how good a job they have done in getting them to collectors as we need to wait a few months after delivery, but weโve already seen gallery and flipper listings. Didnโt take this person long though did it (and they have bought/flipped a lot of previous Heni releases). ๐ They didnโt though did they? The UPs infamously primarily went to non holders/inactive members of their discord. Many on here mocked and found humour in the frustration in there at the time, saw it as evidence of how deluded those NFT holders were. Well maybe Heni saw that (in their own Discord) and changed/evolved things this time. Funny thing is whilst I personally did see a connection between the NFT and the UP, I donโt with this release. Itโs smart though, how better to understand your potential client base than to host a forum where they chat all day. Seems sensible to me.
Yes the odd one gets through (as per your example) but I agree with OP that there wonโt be as many sold on as people might expect.
Also Heni wont โlike flippersโ, thatโs a stupid comment isnโt it? It doesnโt pass the most basic logic thought process, suggesting you weren't really thinking before saying it?Flippers and resellers are a natural part of the โmarketโ but Heni, or anyone operating at that scale, are going to try to manage the challenge. And allocations are the easiest way.

Damien Hirst - The Archangels, by damo on May 4, 2024 11:50:21 GMT 1, This time HENI is making a meticulous job with the allocations, the majority of the prints is going to well known Heni collectors and / or old NFTs old members. Unless these prints reach the ยฃ50k on the market , this time will see very few for sale on secondary . Inclined to agree with this. Some will slip through naturally, but percentage that seem to have been allocated to the active members in their Discord and/or the NFT holders is interesting. I think itโs a really nice touch tbh.

Damien Hirst - The Archangels, by damo on Apr 30, 2024 23:28:02 GMT 1, I think people just like spouting shit on here, re their opinions. If I post this maybe โblankโ will like it and Iโll feel clever. Keyboard warriors like that sort of thing. Most people accept that different people like different things, and itโs all good, if you havenโt been drinking the UAA kool-aid. Yes, people like different things. You gotta admit though, this art collecting thing is kind of ridiculous right? I mean I'm addicted as well, but Jesus, what we pay for unimpressive crap is just nuts.
Ask anyone in the street who doesn't collect art, what you or I just paid for <Insert Art Object here> and what we just got, and they'll think we're insane and/or stupid.
So we don't look as crazy, we then have to follow-up by saying, "well you can immediately sell this for 3x as much."
Collecting is a serious addiction. Tbh I just buy what I want to hang on my wall and look at. I also donโt have friends that ask what it cost, or probably care. And if they did my personal response would not be โitโs worth x timesโ but thats just me. And yes itโs an addiction for many of us, not really the point though is it. You were making a judgement on why people are buying a piece, based on your opinion, dressed up as an interesting perspective (it wasnโt, but I presume you thought it was). Each to their own, Iโm primarily a lurker here and add little value so it was rude of me to get involved in your conversation tbh, just find the constant snidey comments a bit tiring. Just an opinion though.

Damien Hirst - The Archangels, by damo on Apr 30, 2024 22:34:44 GMT 1, I'll stop. Great if you're happy. But people on here mostly WANT TO buy something, WANT TO like something. They see the big name, see the profits that were made with the Virtues, need something that is easy on the eyes and identifiable by the uneducated visitor. I'm sure even Hirst himself thinks it's all a big joke. I think people like having a connection to celebrities. Wow, my favorite <blank> actually touched this piece of paper when he signed it! People like that sort of thing.
Screenprint, giclee, or dibond, it's all unimpressive in person if you haven't been drinking the kool-aid.

New Invader show in Paris, by damo on Apr 30, 2024 18:38:08 GMT 1, Flights are now booked! If anyone has any recommendations regarding food, graffiti hot spots, big invaders or anything cool - please let me know. As you probably already know... I am still looking for 1x ticket on the 5th May in the afternoon so my girlfriend can tag along. Side note: The ticket I do have was kindly given to me by a forum member. I just wanted to say how touched I was to receive the ticket and just shows you that there is still good people in the world!
There are some great works down in the 13th (can get metro straight to Place d'Italie from Republique - by the Invader show). Great walk there all the way down past Chevaleret taking in a Pejac, Obey, D*Face, Seth, couple of huge Invaders, Faile, Vhils and many others. Bit out of the way but worth the trip, can finish off at the Lavo//matik and Galerie Itinerrance if you extend the walk a bit also.

Damien Hirst Pharmacy Ashtray complete set of 6, by damo on Apr 28, 2024 18:54:36 GMT 1, If you get no interest here, i would suggest you might find some in the Heni Discord chat. I know many members are in both 'forums', but may be worth reaching out once you have settled on a valuation, a lot of DH collectors there (despite some here claiming its just crypto bros ).

Damien Hirst - The Archangels, by damo on Apr 23, 2024 18:02:31 GMT 1, These are around ยฃ7200 with VAT on, take off a conservative ยฃ700 for the framing and you are looking at ยฃ6500 cost. For an edition of 100 that seems 'fair' to me. Comparing with secondary values on the Virtues at present your question should probably be '2 of the framed Archangels, or a Virtue?'
Dependent on actually getting allocated one admittedly, but i would take one of these personally. I like them, personal choice but as others have said it feels like a solid answer to some valid criticisms that many have voiced re the approach taken for for his more recent releases (via Heni).

New Invader show in Paris, by damo on Feb 27, 2024 15:04:47 GMT 1, What this about 100 prints to win from the Beaux Arts Magazine? Anyone know how to enter? There is a QR code on the editorial page on the magazine. However... draw only open to those in mainland France. I spent 6 Euro on this discovery by buying digital version, so figured i might as well share

Damien Hirst โข Great Expectations, by damo on Jan 18, 2024 10:24:30 GMT 1, Does anyone know how to transfer one of these NFTโs from Palm to Palm in the easiest possible way? Connected Metamask wallet to ondora.xyz but then stuck to what to do next? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks Go onto Discord and ask a mod for help is safest way.
However if your metamask (you can just do it from the desktop app) is connected to Palm and GE already on Palm then you can just 'send' and put new wallet address in as destination. As i say though the mods are very good, they will walk you through it via DMs if need be.

Banksy Show โข Cut & Run โข Glasgow , by damo on Aug 23, 2023 21:50:17 GMT 1, Long shot I realise, but just had a meeting put in the diary in Glasgow on Tuesday at the last minute. Going to fly up Monday afternoon and i know i will have missed any hope of a walk in by that time. If anyone has a spare for late afternoon/evening and willing to pass it on for a book and tote (or anything else they want) drop me a DM.
Thanks in advance

Invaders in London, by damo on Jun 13, 2023 10:05:31 GMT 1, With 4 Invasions and 150 total, does anyone know exactly how many remain active at present? I know its a moving feast with both theft and demolition but I am keen to grab all i can, whilst i can. Have flashed and/or mapped out 46 now, anyone aware if that is the total or am i missing some?
Also thought it would be nice to get back to the Invasion itself on here for once.

Heni x Invader 'Rubikcubism', by damo on Feb 8, 2023 18:17:29 GMT 1, After reading comments here, comments on Heni's post, counting reactions and taking into account the dimensions / weight and price of this edition, here is my guess on size of this edition : * Cube : 600 * Camouflage : 750 * Country Life : 450 * Marilyn : 1300 Donโt forget all the discord members who go nuts for anything heni release ! Not sure how many of those are left tbh. Even the most loyal have recognised quite a few missteps (a polite description) in comms/lack of comms over the last few months.
