Successful Cover Songs, by eye like on Jun 28, 2020 23:05:17 GMT 1, MacCollโs voice had such a purity about it that works so well on this version of the Bragg classic. And her tragic death always adds a real poignancy to this track for me.

Looking for Ed Ruscha Mountains series prints, by eye like on Jun 28, 2020 16:58:20 GMT 1, I dont think some of those are prints.. and are OG's.. but i may be wrong..but deepest of deep pockets required if you wanted an OG from this series ( Millions rather than thousands ) The Mountain series are as follows: Jet Baby Sponge Puddle Periods Wall Rocket History Kids Bliss Bucket Most are 40 - 60 editions ..with several different colourway AP / PP's The message on the massive Canvas OG in the Tate always gives me a chuckle and I really enjoy looking at it when im in there Best of luck G A quote from J G Ballards - High Rise. One of my favourite paintings at TM too. And what a book that is too! It had escaped me that this was where the quote was from. Thanks for that!

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by eye like on Jun 3, 2020 23:32:47 GMT 1, It was indeed a great video, thanks Met. Coach I don't know if you're aware (sounds like you're a fan so probably) but the album Nocturne of these two gigs is truly excellent too. I bought it originally on CD but I managed to track down a vinyl copy a while back so I have no use of the CD any more. You'd be welcome to it if you're interested and haven't heard it. That is so kind thank you. I already have the LP on vinyl. I bought it on releases. What I wish I still had is the bootleg gig poster I bought after the gig. Huge poster, black and white, great Souixsie image, like a stencil. 1983! How time flies huh? Glad you have a copy!
That poster does sound like it would have been worth hanging on to. But to be fair it was pretty hard to make a bad image of her, such an incredible look.
1983 seems a lifetime ago, but the music can always take you right back there! I saw The Cure play their first three albums in their entirety also at the Albert Hall a few years back. Another incredible gig and it showed again what a brilliant venue that is. I love the small intimate venues the best but there's something about the grandeur and history of that place which makes everything feel like an event there.

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by eye like on Jun 3, 2020 23:11:09 GMT 1, Met, thank you so much for posting this. I almost missed it as I donโt frequent this site as much as once I did. Iโm flabbergasted that my memory, so often sketchy these days, was right about Israel being the song that broke the Stravinsky! What a way to start the gig. Iโm not surprised that Helter Skelter stuck in eye like โs memory though as the video you posted shows that that was the second and final encore. Spellbound wonderful as the first. Siouxsieโs performance was superb. She had such a fabulous stage presence, though in part I suspect that that was in part influenced by youthful infatuation! Thank you for finding and sharing the video. The opening shots of the gathering crowd were great, though it didnโt show one thing I still vividly remember; the growing excitement at the front during the Stravinsky. Iโm glad to see that it was recorded over two shows as I was perplexed by the sudden change of dress half way through, only for it to change back! Thoroughly enjoyed a trip down memory lane this evening thanks to you met. It was indeed a great video, thanks Met.

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by eye like on May 18, 2020 23:22:24 GMT 1, Siouxsie at the Albert Hall with Robert Smith on guitar. What a gig that was. I saw them with Smith too. Fabulous. Gig started with Stravinsky, until they kicked off with Israel (or it might have been Helter Skelter) Yes thatโs right! Think it was Helter Skelter. Brilliant stuff. And Smith was the only guitarist who could fill McGeochโs shoes.

Coronavirus effect on the art market?, by eye like on May 4, 2020 18:51:42 GMT 1, RIP Dave Greenfield. Right up there with fellow keyboardist Ray Manzarek in truly defining the sound of their respective bands. Oh man that's bad news. What a legend and still so great.
I grew up near Guildford where the lads came from and lost count of the times I saw them, the last only a year ago. Black and White is still one of my favourite albums of that era.

Court decision on the 5Pointz Case , by eye like on Feb 22, 2020 0:18:12 GMT 1, You do make an interesting point. I hadnโt really considered that might be a consequence.
But then if the verdict had gone the other way justice really wouldnโt have been done, so on balance Iโm still happy it went the way it did.
The artists had been allowed to paint there for over a decade and then one night he just erases the lot without any warning or discussion. I think the size of the judgement against him was as much down to the contempt he showed for the artists and their work, as it was the way he went about it.
I would hope the ruling wouldnโt stop owners, but i accept it might well lead to more of them asking the artist to sign a contract waiving their rights before they can paint.

What a fantastic outcome, and the court really ripped in to Wolkoff and his legal team on all points. How refreshing to see the legal system working for the artist's benefit for a change.
