DIY Framing, by Mister Frame Man on Jun 16, 2008 11:20:53 GMT 1, Great thread......I have been meaning to do something like this for ages but just haven't got round to it!
You all know by now that we offer a conservation framing service for your valuable high end prints. However we also have a workshop catering for the general public through our shops in Norwich and Cambridge which is not such a high end service. We can make any size frame with or without mount, with UV glass or standard glass, with backing board and supply tapes and hinges for self mounting etc etc etc!
For example I can provide: Frame 60x80cm with mount ยฃ30.00 Frame 50x70cm with mount ยฃ25.00 Frame 40x50cm with mount ยฃ20.00
Bespoke sizes also not a problem - ANY SIZE AVAILABLE!
For a quote please mail me at: gary@photographyframing.co.uk with the following info
Mount Size, Frame Size, Glass Type, frame Colour & Extra Materials Required - I can the get back to you with a price.
Please do not confuse this with our framing service as the materials are not conservation and I would not recommend these frames for your "special" prints!
Bad News: Carriage would be ยฃ12.95, but if ordering a couple of frames that's not so bad!
Good News: Delivery could be next day if required!
Many Thanks
Gary

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Mister Frame Man on May 30, 2008 6:36:44 GMT 1, Great Collection MFM. Hey, is that Barcode in the bathroom? Awesome. Except for Bono, all is v cool. Great Matt Smalls also. Yep, Right opposite the shower! Love Rat above toilet!
Rebate tape, aluminium backing tape and water resistant Cori board on the back - Nothing gets in there! If framed correctly there is no problem hanging works in the bathroom!
Just think of all that extra wall space! ;D

Not Mine.....But Too Good Not To Share!, by Mister Frame Man on Apr 30, 2008 17:02:41 GMT 1, Hi Gary, nice work. Why is this box so deep? Could it be half as deep and look a little less like a plastic box? Can you do the same thing with more traditional materials? Please let me know. Ta.
I made the box that depth to give it stability as the owner wanted to place it on a shelf! Could be made more shallow, could also be made using all clear acrylic as opposed to white sides!

Not Mine.....But Too Good Not To Share!, by Mister Frame Man on Apr 30, 2008 16:58:54 GMT 1, Is it possible for 2 equally sized prints to be put in a similar frame so you can flip em over if you feel like looking at something different? Yes, but would need to be pretty small pieces!

Vandal Airways Framing, by Mister Frame Man on Apr 30, 2008 16:04:33 GMT 1, ive got a couple of last year's nick walker prints (handycap and gold nozzle) and want to put them in something that doesnt cost more than the prints themselves. you think these are worth it or not? We too can make any size frame and supply with glass and board at a very good price! Obviously, this wouldn't class as conservation framing, but we can do basic cheap frames!

Vandal Airways Framing, by Mister Frame Man on Apr 30, 2008 14:51:54 GMT 1, I quite fancy doing one of these in a silver frame, but splatting paint on the frame or on the mountboard to replicate "The Vandal" look - Anyone fancy letting me experiment for a "special" price?

Not Mine.....But Too Good Not To Share!, by Mister Frame Man on Apr 30, 2008 11:31:45 GMT 1, This is a piece recently framed which really shows the benefits of using acrylic. Artwork sandwiched between two acrylic mounts and presented in the centre of a clear acrylic box allowing both sides of the work to be enjoyed!

Framed Stop & Search Photos , by Mister Frame Man on Apr 29, 2008 9:46:02 GMT 1, Of course I don't mind HC. And yes it was done by mr frame man (although interestingly not floated give his comment above!) Hi Pez,
Hope you are well mate!
I had to sacrifice the float mounting on your piece because if floated I would have had to space back to prevent the print touching the glass. With that particular frame there is not the depth in the rebate to do so! In my opinion that frame is perfect for Stop & Search so used the inner black mount to gain the same effect!

Framed Stop & Search Photos , by Mister Frame Man on Apr 28, 2008 14:49:18 GMT 1, With this particular print, I would float on a charcoal backing board, and mount 1/4" away from the deckled edge with 1/8" of duck egg blue and a top mount to match the paper!
However, I am not going to ram my opinion down anyone elses throat. I don't consider there to be a "wrong" way or a "right" way to frame a print - Unlike a lot of people on this thread!

Mister Frameman โข Mr Frameman, by Mister Frame Man on Apr 9, 2008 18:30:57 GMT 1, The 'Found Show' were excellent. It was just that I saw one of the immodium ones more recently. Personally I would have reframed those that are still for sale 'cos it's not good publicity.
The ones that are sold now come to me to be framed and the ones in the gallery are for samples only. Unfortunately if I were to reframe those in the gallery they would be "bad publicity" again in 4 weeks time as they are not particularly well looked after!
.......Thanks for your "Found" comments!
.......How about I do your next piece and you can sample my work 1st hand?

Mister Frameman โข Mr Frameman, by Mister Frame Man on Apr 9, 2008 17:33:37 GMT 1, I saw the immodium originals that were lying around the Leonard Street Gallery and were framed by Mr Frameman and I can say I have never seen framing that bad before. No joints were on the level and the backing board wasn't flush. I can only imagine that it was a bad day as everyone on here seems to rave about him.
Totally fair comment....They were bad! I was given that job about 12 hours before the exhibition and had to make those frames out of 2x2 timber with mdf backing and then hand paint them. Sometimes, despite how much you dislike doing something you have to do it to keep the client happy! It's a shame you have never seen any of the other work I have done for TLSG!
