Bast Piggy Ed of 8, by twist65 on Jan 10, 2013 13:27:14 GMT 1, personally thought it would have been better floated on black too but each to their own I guess.. silly question, is archival tape removable?

Your latest Art Purchase?, by twist65 on Jan 10, 2013 12:29:56 GMT 1, (please excuse the low quality photos, but I just couldn't wait for a nice sunny day to photograph and share this) here is my latest addition, a commission piece by Christopher Derek Bruno "simply" named "Lenticular Composition #6 Custos Morum".. the entire commission went super easy and smooth, as CDB is definitely a top guy to deal with.. from agreeing on a concept, to packaging and shipping, I just couldn't be happier with this deal and the final piece: at first I was amazed with how sturdy and well crafted the piece is!.. coming with a custom hanging bracket, and all the directions on the packaging and the back of the piece, it feels like high quality furniture brand put it together in their hi tech factory: this is his smallest piece of this kind to date, and once I placed it on it's spot, I couldn't believe what a complex image he managed to fit into it!.. or two images to be precise... plus, the entire thing is painted with spraypaint, and seeing the clean, solid transparency he got with it, is just wow: sorry if it's coming across like Im bragging too much about it, but Im really impressed with the concept, execution, quality, and strength of this piece.. it really makes walking around the house more fun!
blimey sal, i'd be bragging too, that looks amazing!! A new name for me too, thanks for sharing. Would be well happy walking past that in different directions every day!!

Les Ballets de Faile, by twist65 on Jan 10, 2013 0:56:12 GMT 1, each to their own I guess, if provocative art floats your boat then I don't think Faile have ever ticked that box so not sure it can be levelled as a criticism. They were given the opportunity to work with NYCB on this project, who threw open their archives for them. Naturally they embraced this in their own way, using a visual language they've been developing for years rather than going off on a radical new stylistic tangent. I suppose it's quite a literal response to the brief but personally I think their work shows much more class and finesse than, say, if Shep or someone had been given the same opportunity.
I get the jigsaw/kite thing though and can see how blocks etc could be perceived as gimmicky. I've always seen it as Faile's way of exploring different media whilst retaining full control over their output, Personally i'd like to see a lot more artists personally create pretty much everything they sign their own name on. But i'd take a print or canvas over a puzzle box every time. I'm not an investor, have a few low end prints and am an unashamed fan, so am always excited to see some new Faile imagery.

Bast Piggy Ed of 8, by twist65 on Jan 7, 2013 10:19:44 GMT 1, always loved that image, and winter for me that canvas is 2012 piece of the year on here, total stunner... don't think my wife would agree either though! Was hoping for another Xmas day drop this year, I was one of the sad people casually checking the site...
good luck with your search kenzler

New Faile Frame Offer - Details Added!, by twist65 on Jan 4, 2013 14:22:04 GMT 1, think you've made a rod for your own back here Fary! In a good way though..!
Having seen MartinM's pic, I think I now prefer the 2cm frame. Defo floated, and ideally with colour spacers. With UV glass. I have a Saved and a Heartbreak, would need em sending up to the North East (England, not London) =]

CHECK OUT POW! New Christmas releases! , by twist65 on Dec 20, 2012 17:43:27 GMT 1, didn't the Clockwork Orange specials drop at the weekend? Can't remember...
I don't mind when, if at all they release stuff, I just still think that a large part of it is not due to some well crafted release strategy, more they're not very organised.. I don't mind that either, just saying!

CHECK OUT POW! New Christmas releases! , by twist65 on Dec 20, 2012 15:36:16 GMT 1, i think POW like us to think it's all part of some secretive PR masterplan to keep us on our tenterhooks. But really I reckon its cos they don't know their ar$e from their elbow.. Last years Xmas list and coming soons a case in point. Just because they've advertised a Dran and an Invader, that doesn't mean we'll see em...

Faile two new prints, by twist65 on Dec 18, 2012 16:42:20 GMT 1, yeah they're just existing larger screens. I'm just guessing but I thought thats what the first printed layer was on all 3 of these prints, ran sideways and then the centre painted over so it was just an abstract border in the end. maybe they did the backs first to test it out and measure how the larger image overlapped the cut sheets?
also they used to do this with the butchers paper prints they mailed out with old editions, often there was an image on the front then another test image or 2 cropped funny on the back..
stang the back of your heartbreak is my fave reverse yet!

CHECK OUT POW! New Christmas releases! , by twist65 on Dec 17, 2012 17:40:14 GMT 1, to be fair invader, dran and tilt are pretty much the biggest artists they've got left, apart from Paul Insect who's obviously been busy stateside. and escif's done some of the best walls of the year. so for me I think they're a pretty good release roster, just maybe not the best POW releases by these artists.
wonder what else is lined up? bound to be some more as we haven't seen the obligatory 3D print yet.. =]

Best print release in 2012 and the winner is.., by twist65 on Dec 14, 2012 16:17:02 GMT 1, Clockwork Britain - for me the most on point social commentary print of the year and a killer image to boot. the only print i've ever loved and missed enough to go for on the secondary market
Faile Tonight - I don't have one but for edition size x price x quality hard to beat
Sides that the Conor Harringtons and the Mode 2 kiss print look pretty awesome, loved the Hushes too but besides that bit of a dull year I reckon

Faile two new prints, by twist65 on Dec 14, 2012 14:18:13 GMT 1, some slightly harsh words there! In all honesty I got a heartbreak on the sneek peek, went for a saved and another heartbreak in the email bunfight, the idea being if I scored an extra heartbreak I could use it to score a tonight. I didn't get an extra one but if that makes me a bad person so be it =]
