The moment you take a Banksy out its frame and realise...., by Dungle on Jul 23, 2014 21:49:00 GMT 1, Can this be taken off by the man Bignall or is this print one that you can't do that on?
Do I go and burn down the framing shop that did it!

The moment you take a Banksy out its frame and realise...., by ABC on Jul 23, 2014 21:52:02 GMT 1, I'm sure if it were normal paper then that would not be a massive issue. However, I would not risk removing a flags print, far too easy to damage. That said what do I know...

The moment you take a Banksy out its frame and realise...., by Dungle on Jul 23, 2014 21:56:13 GMT 1, Leave it as is, its ok innit?, bang it back in the frame. Was taking it out to,get it properly framed by MFM as it's always been in a shitty frame and I actually really like the image and the ones at Sotheby's inspired me to reframe and get it up on the wall.
guess it'll have to be framed like this now, but it ain't gonna look the best and will limit what can be done.

Ahh ballsโฆ. this print picks up finger marks and creases far too easily, a nightmareโฆ !
I doubt even Graham Bignell could work his magic without damaging it.
I see the framer made a note of the edition number he covered for you.

The moment you take a Banksy out its frame and realise...., by Dungle on Jul 23, 2014 21:57:30 GMT 1, How did you request it be framed (museum board etc) and do you have the invoice So long ago I deffo don't have the receipts and couldn't be sure how I asked for it to be framed.
what makes it worse is I got 2 framed, and gave one to a mate who'll now be in for a shock too.

The moment you take a Banksy out its frame and realise...., by skitchy on Jul 23, 2014 22:01:02 GMT 1, Wasn't there a dry mounted rude copper on here a while ago? Wonder what happened to that..
You can soak antique prints in water to remove dry mounting, not sure you would want to do that with this!

The moment you take a Banksy out its frame and realise...., by Coach on Jul 23, 2014 22:11:26 GMT 1, Gutted for you dungle. If you know who framed it, you could still ask for an explanation. And see where that leads.

The moment you take a Banksy out its frame and realise...., by Dungle on Jul 23, 2014 22:29:03 GMT 1, It seems everyone wants to buy it!
I'm not selling it at the moment.
Will speak to Bignall (has anyone got his contact details please) and see if anything can be done.
If it can't I'll probably just get it reframed anyway, as I can't be arsed to have to track another one down.
Will let those that have PM'd know if I am going to sell if I get offered a mint flags in the meantime, but I won't be responding to you each individually.

The moment you take a Banksy out its frame and realise...., by Chrisp on Jul 23, 2014 22:38:19 GMT 1, I have all ways thought about this but never known the answer. A company should have public liability and companies selling a product, ie framing should have products liability, if not they are a shabby setup. If a framer damages a print you should be covered under their products liability. It's not like it's worth a few pounds is it?!

The moment you take a Banksy out its frame and realise...., by Deleted on Jul 23, 2014 22:43:10 GMT 1, I have all ways thought about this but never known the answer. A company should have public liability and companies selling a product, ie framing should have products liability, if not they are a shabby setup. If a framer damages a print you should be covered under their products liability. It's not like it's worth a few pounds is it?! If you specify the value of the print (as well as emphasize that it will likely increase in value; one of the reasons you are asking for archival framing materials to be used) and this is reflected in the framing receipt/invoice, then it should serve as ample evidence to reclaim any lost value in (hopefully small claims) court.
If it's something like a Banksy you framed in 2003, you would need to be extremely explicit though re: your belief that it could potentially be worth the amount it is today (I'm not sure anyone was that explicit back then). Nowadays, you could use Banksy as a reference point for appreciation of value for urban art prints to show the expectation of price increase wasn't unreasonable.
Sorry to get all legal, I know this is the last place for that.
