Can tell you my first idea was ' YOU can help get this gun off the streets ' with an eBay button underneath 'BUY-IT-NOW' for yourself!

My Stencils!, by rabbitlegs on May 17, 2007 2:38:30 GMT 1, There are 2 Montana's Spanish and German - they are not the same at all. I use both if I can't get Belton, as it's hard to get colors here in the US, but never mix them
Yep never mix brands! Good advice Ripper...
Ive ruined a couple of pieces trying to mix
Please dont think you need expensive 'Montana,Belton, blah, blah aerosols' to get results
I get cool results from Carplan/Tetrosyl auto/car repair sprays...and if you look at Nick walkers site...so does he!
FcUk the brand ...just spray!....(responsibly of course)

My Stencils!, by BK83 on May 17, 2007 4:19:13 GMT 1, For longevity, great colors and quality color mixing I would say stick to either Montana or Belton. if you just want to spray up a few pieces to either "get up" or just do some quick canvas action for the house, then yeh - generic brands are fine. But to be honest, all in all, you're better off sticking with Montanna or Belton for everything.

My Stencils!, by Ripper1331 on May 18, 2007 7:43:11 GMT 1, I wouldnโt say that you should never choose cheaper paints, I never use expensive blacks or whites but everything else is always Belton or Montana, but there is a difference you can see when side by side with other pieces.
I find that Belton and German Montana control the best and have the best colors - there really is a difference in the colors between these two and cheaper brands.
The Spanish Montana is really runny which can be problematic if your doing multi-layers or just starting and don't have good can control. I find other cheaper paints, Painters touch in the US, also have this problem. These do work well for backgrounds if you want a messier look.
It also really depends on the climate you're in. Klutch prefers Belton because it dries faster than other brands in Oregon, where I find that if it's really hot and dry in Los Angeles Belton can dry too fast and crack.
Even though these paints are more expensive you really can cover a lot with a can so itโs still cheaper than oils or acrylics.

My Stencils!, by Copyright on May 18, 2007 16:00:19 GMT 1, the problem with carplan or any auto intended paint is their celulose or oil based which dries solid, perfect for car work but can be a problem on canvas which is more flexable and theirfore brittle paints can crack. Montanas Beltons etc are a softer drying non celulose paint and theirfore slightly more forgiving on a flexable surface. Also the oil based pigment in car paints is by its nature slightly transparent whereas grafiti specific paints provide a more opaque coverage. Mixing the chemicals of celulose and non celulose paints can sometimes cause a bad reaction that bubbles or peals.
The montana paints are also good because the have variable preasure and multipul caps available. Theirs 2 basic types, black and gold, which is basicly matt and gloss, For stencil work id recoment the gold, matt finish one. It gives a more even powder coat and drys a lot faster which is usefull when working with layers. also the black, gloss paint is a lot stickyer and can clog up a stencil with fine detail and drys thicker. but great on walls. If your really unsure buy loads of paint caps etc and experemant
sorry if ive rambled or if any of this has been said previously. really like the grenade stencils.

My Stencils!, by BK83 on May 18, 2007 21:38:11 GMT 1, Hey DogByte -- great stuff, but remember -- use the shadows as a guide for cutting your stencils. -- the Che Ney idea is gold -- (although I hate to think of the guy as any kind of revolutionary -- I assume you are playing on the idea that Che was seen as a criminal and a revolutionary depending on whose side you were on)..
anyway back to my point -- use the shadows as a guide to cutting the stencil -- the cheney shadows over the nose are a little too much and are not correct with the shadowing of Che's hair. -- its a good idea to print your stencils out in gray and then draw in with black where you will actually make cuts.
other than that -- your stuff looks great -- keep up the great work!

My Stencils!, by rabbitlegs on Jun 7, 2007 12:02:54 GMT 1, Think this fella belongs here rather than Banksy's out section
Took a couple of months off and on, The stenciling was easy, sanding hardboard with fine sandpaper...mind-numbingly tedious
and no I aint doing another...unless you make me an offer I cannot refuse

My Stencils!, by Run Pig Run on Jun 12, 2007 17:08:18 GMT 1, hehe.
I don't like a single person knowing what i'm doing till it's done. I like to show them afterwards and watch them nod and say yeah, i like it while you can tell they're screaming out inside: "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT UGLY PEICE OF SHIT I HOPE HE DOESN'T THINK IT'S GOING ON THE WALL"
hehe.
