Paul Insect • Clockwork Britain, by JW on Apr 6, 2023 21:34:22 GMT 1, Whoever buys this won't regret it. I own a white canvas and it's probably my favourite piece.
At this price the downside is (relatively) limited. There's much larger and poorer print editions going for not much less than this out there.
Insect will have his day...

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by JW on Mar 17, 2023 20:52:52 GMT 1, As well as Dismaland, a couple of years later. But what on earth was the sound engineer playing at during the above 1976 version of this classic tune? Or the cameramen, for that matter? While I don't wish to come across as a conspiracy theorist, they all pretty much sidelined the sound and images of the real star of the song, Gene Frenkle (1950–2000). Brilliant.
One question though, did (Don’t Fear) The Reaper make an appearance at Dismaland? I may well be wrong but I only recall Stayin' Alive playing on repeat.

Banksy in Kiev, Ukraine 🇺🇦, by JW on Feb 22, 2023 23:19:53 GMT 1,
Paintings on the ruins of Ukrainian buildings by British graffiti artist Banksy have received new protections.
The artworks have been covered by shockproof glass, in the hope that they will survive any further damage brought on by Russia's bombardments.
The artist is believed to have painted the murals, including in Borodyanka, just outside Kyiv, in November last year.
Borodyanka was heavily damaged during Russia's attempt to capture the capital in February, when it was subjected to air strikes and artillery shelling. With the area blockaded, civilians faced starvation until Ukrainian forces recaptured the area in April.
Four murals in his signature style were spotted in total on damaged buildings in and around Kyiv, including one depicting a gymnast doing a handstand amid debris.

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by JW on Feb 12, 2023 0:05:44 GMT 1, Full disclosure - I did reach out to Charlie Bronson as I have an unsigned GWB I may look to sell over the next 6-12 months (and sorry for not replying back - life keeps getting in the way at the moment).
I can honestly see the edge burn, but it's really not bad and the print looks in great shape otherwise assuming the back is the same.
If you plan to float mount it you may be othered. Once you see it, it's all you'll see. But if you mount it, happy days.

Banksy Happy Chopper Print, by JW on Feb 8, 2023 21:37:26 GMT 1, This one was unsigned. I'm certain this topic comes up every now and then.
Bonhams
Banksy (British, born 1975) Happy Choppers Screenprint in colours, 2003, on wove, inscribed 'AP/DN' and numbered 673/750 in pencil, published by Pictures on Walls, London, the full sheet, 700 x 500mm (27 1 /2 x 19 5/8in)(SH) Footnotes This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Pest Control Office.
I've got zero to do with this sale by the way. I'm just amazed at the sheer volume of mis/disinformation spread here.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by JW on Jan 26, 2023 20:44:48 GMT 1, Thats correct. I just found the mail you mentioned in my inbox. There was no mail coming from GDP. That's the one. Though the cynic in me worries that scammers could use it on their ebay listings, so I didn't post it here.
More-so the confirmation email than this one though.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by JW on Jan 26, 2023 19:44:36 GMT 1, Nope, not a load of tosh, emails from GDP and first edition will always hold more water, just a fact. You can tell it is a fact when the first edition always sell for more than the other 3500. Market dictates. I don't recall there being an email from GDP. When buying you were directed to the Love Welcomes website. This is correct.
Once the GDP site went up, the only item that included a link to buy was the Welcome Mat and as you say, you were directed to the Love Welcomes site to purchase direct.
A few other things.
A pre-order email did also go out from LW that day but nothing from GDP (at least to the general public...) and referred to them as the "first run".
A few days later, a confirmation email from LW referred to them as the "first batch of mats to be created."
Lastly, mats with the label stiched on the back didn't stop at 500. I bought a second one with the label on the back a few months after release and it is slightly above that number, but I'm not sure what the cut-off point was.
My guess is it just became much less time consuming to attach them with one stich vs the many required to attached it to the back.
My personal preference? Like the Box Sets I prefer the first batch(es), but others may find later batches more asthetically pleasing.

Banksy • frAGILE • Legacy of War Foundation , by JW on Dec 10, 2022 1:49:12 GMT 1, Interesting to use an albino rat... I agree at first I thought the choice of a white rat was interesting but then I looked at it a bit more. To me its more a small feeder mouse. The kind you feed to a snake or something. Its clawing its way back up and not ready to give up. I really like this image and the way its displayed. If anyone gets an email for it and does want it--- shoot me a message. Nice take. The optimist in me wants to think the mouse is on the other side of the glass cage and sliding down on its way to freedom... but the scratches aren't quite there yet. Hopefully soon.

Paul Insect FRAMED, by JW on Dec 2, 2022 20:10:08 GMT 1, what's up with pictures disappearing? Page loads and images get removed. Been like that for a while now. If you have an adblocker on, that's probably what's causing the issue.
You have to turn it off and put up with the seizure-inducing flashing ads if you want to see pictures.

Bitcoin, by JW on Nov 16, 2022 20:20:40 GMT 1, My long term focus is on rare earth metals and lithium. Albermarle and SQM de Chile are a big part of my pension portfolio. As much as I don't like mining, if we are to get out of the climate crisis even partially unscathed then we will need lots of lithium and lots of rare earth metals. China controls most of the latter, so any western company that finds a rich seam of them will be an amazing investment. Have some money in small cap miners focusing on them; same as the small cap crypto in that if they break out it'll be huge. That's where my money is going, anyway. Like I said, I am just some tit on the internet so don't take this as gospel Any concern about water scarcity in Chilean mining regions? Mines waste a lot of water and ore grades are only going to decline as demand increases.

RIP John Dolan of George the dog fame, by JW on Nov 11, 2022 23:39:49 GMT 1, So, in a bit of better news, i managed to find George (with much help from streetvet!) and have fostered the little guy. Just wonderful. Probably the best news I've seen on this forum.
You're a gem of a human being and George is very lucky.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by JW on Sept 27, 2022 23:23:35 GMT 1, I did though, you’re reference doesn’t say anything about “locked up in the vault never to be used again” That little statement was posted many places when they originally “continued” the test press series and now I don’t see it anywhere on their IG posts or website. It’s still on page 1 of this thread It's still there on the website: www.clownskateboards.com/shop/banksy-test-press-series
"These boards are part of the CLOWN BANKSY TEST PRESS series, which finishes what we started in August 2000 by COMPLETING THE 100 OF EACH as we agreed to do with BANKSY. The original acetates are being used 20 years later to handprint this series, making it officially a continuation of the run. After this run the screens and the acetate will be retired never to be used again, locked away forever in the Clown vaults."
I mean, keep spewing out incorrect statements if you want. I'll just keep replying with facts though.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by JW on Sept 26, 2022 22:06:06 GMT 1, Looking quickly at Clown skateboards IG it looks like the old posts about the original acetates being locked up in a vault never to be used again have been deleted. Not a shocker, I’ll keep waiting until I can get a basic deck for retail……. It’ll happen once their whole limited edition, printer proofs, continuing the original run of 150 etc bullshit has run its course. You clearly did look very quickly...
http://instagr.am/p/CGe0RGhl8hB
They can and will continue to use their logo. The size also looks different on the new decks compared to the Test Press release.

Damien Hirst • The Currency Unique Prints, by JW on Sept 24, 2022 23:03:35 GMT 1, Personally, I think these should be offered to people who didn't manage to get a currency in the first place. Just to even things up a bit. At least not make it all about those that are already holders. I will register my interest like everyone and hope for the best, I just don't like the idea it is weighted in favour of people that are already quite lucky to have got one. Nice idea but a bit naive imo. Surely these will go mainly to nft holders so they have something physical in return for sticking with the experiment? Why else would DH hold his? Those who redeemed for physic, wallet or not have already made their choice and those who weren't part of the experiment can't add any data. What about those of us who applied (strictly following the application rules like a fool, in hindsight) and didn't get selected?
I'm a repeat Heni customer that missed out on the Currency. Am I less deserving of this new print?

Mason Storm 🇬🇧 New Print Release • Who is Mason Storm?, by JW on Aug 21, 2022 21:56:59 GMT 1, This is the problem 🤔 Banksy has created the demand, and then just left others to supply. Without keeping up with demand, the whole thing has gone out of control with fake exhibitions touring the World, and lists of artists copying and releasing editions of his work. Is that really the problem? Is it acceptable because Banksy can't trademark his own work (unless he confirms his real identity)?
In any other field this kind of release would be considered a blatant counterfeit.
Are fake Rolexes ok because they limit supply?
Genuine questions. This guy can release whatever he wants, but I don't agree that Banksy is the problem here.

Banksy STREET ART, by JW on Aug 5, 2022 15:48:48 GMT 1, www.thetimes.co.uk/article/elusive-banksy-rat-artwork-from-west-bank-reappears-in-tel-aviv-gallery-0ww5cjt33
Elusive Banksy rat artwork from West Bank reappears in Tel Aviv gallery
When the graffiti artist Banksy toured the West Bank and Gaza 15 years ago, the works he left behind on security walls and checkpoints satirised the Israeli occupation.
Satire has had its revenge. One of his pieces, a much-celebrated mural of a rat with a slingshot that disappeared from view some years ago, has turned up in a fashionable Tel Aviv art gallery.
To add insult to injury, the gallery and Israeli media have reclaimed the image of the rat as their own — saying that, rather than being an apparent tribute to teenage Palestinian stone-throwers, it symbolises the biblical fight between the Israelite David and Goliath, the giant warrior of the Philistines, the ancient term that is now the Arabic for Palestinians.
“As far as we know, we’re the only ones in Israel who have a Banksy creation,” an employee of the upmarket Urban Gallery, in the middle of Tel Aviv’s financial district, told Ynet, an Israeli news website.
Banksy first went to Israel and the West Bank in 2005, leaving behind sardonic images of idyllic family life and children on a beach on the grey concrete security barrier that divides the two entities and, many Palestinians say, keeps them locked in a prison in their own country.
The rat picture was spray-painted on the side of a bullet-scarred and abandoned checkpoint of the Israeli Defence Forces on the outskirts of Bethlehem.
Some time later, it was painted over by an unknown graffiti artist, who scrawled “RIP Banksy rat” on it. It then disappeared altogether, along with the section of the checkpoint wall that held it.
There are competing accounts of how it reached the Urban Gallery. According to Ynet, the work was taken away and stored in a nearby building for its own protection, after it became involved in a dispute between local Palestinian Christians and Muslims.
When that building was due to be demolished, the artwork was cleaned and restored and then moved to the art gallery by mutual agreement with the local Bethlehem authorities, Ynet added.
However, Koby Abergel, an Israeli art dealer who works with Urban Gallery, told the Associated Press he bought the piece for an undisclosed sum from an “associate” in Bethlehem he refused to name.
The cracked slab of wall containing the mural was lifted out by crane, driven through the security barrier and then taken the 50 miles to Tel Aviv on a flatbed lorry.
The Israeli government unit that administers civilian affairs in parts of the West Bank under its control says it had no knowledge of the operation. The Palestinian authorities have condemned the removal as a breach of international law, which forbids the removal of cultural objects from occupied territories.
“This is theft of the property of the Palestinian people,” a spokesman for the Palestinian tourism ministry said. “These were paintings by an international artist for Bethlehem, for Palestine, and for visitors to Bethlehem and Palestine. So transferring them, manipulating them and stealing them is definitely an illegal act.”
Banksy has created numerous artworks in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in recent years, including one depicting a girl conducting a body search on an Israeli soldier, another showing a dove wearing a flak jacket, and a masked protester hurling a bouquet of flowers. He also designed the Walled Off Hotel guesthouse in Bethlehem, which is filled with his artwork.
The artist did not respond to requests for comment.
This is not the first time his work has been lifted from the West Bank. In 2008, two paintings — Wet Dog and Stop and Search — were removed from the walls of a bus shelter and butcher shop in Bethlehem. They were eventually bought by galleries in the United States and Britain, and exhibited in 2011.
Abergel says it is up to viewers to draw their own conclusions about the artwork and its implications. “We brought it to the main street of Tel Aviv to be shown to the audience and to show his messages,” the art dealer added. “He should be happy with it.”

So transferring them, manipulating them and stealing them is definitely an illegal act.” Banksy has created numerous artworks in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in recent years, including one depicting a girl conducting a body search on an Israeli soldier, another showing a dove wearing a flak jacket, and a masked protester hurling a bouquet of flowers.

Might help you get a few genuine bites if you set your expectations.

Invader • 3D Little Big Space • Sculpture, by JW on Jul 26, 2022 19:57:54 GMT 1, This is from the email sent on the 14th July:
Once order verifications are finalized on our end, we will need another 10 business days to start processing your order together with our fulfillment partner in Hong Kong and kickoff the shipping phase which will take a total of 10 business days to complete all applications for landings across the Globe.
We're on the 8th business day since that email, and that doesn't include the extra time needed to verify orders.
So everyone needs to simmer down.
