Well done to those who got one in the end. My experience seemed easier than most for some reason.

Banksy Choose your weapon - Queue Jumping Grey For Sale, by JW on Jun 29, 2022 13:14:09 GMT 1, Good luck with the sale. It's a lovely print and anyone would be lucky to have it on their wall.
I'm not sure I get the exchange rate explanation though. It's cheaper now to convert USD into GBP than it was 3 months ago... What am I missing?

Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by JW on Jun 21, 2022 20:19:05 GMT 1, Perhaps I've missed it, but there's surprisingly little discussion here recently about the Noir Coins that are now arriving in the hands of owners.
- Photo from discord.gg/thierrynoir
They look great! Regardless of whether you're a fan of the crypto angle or not, they'll look nice up on the wall.

Paul Insect "PEACE" Print, by JW on Jun 14, 2022 11:08:22 GMT 1, Interesting. I'd love to see the pics when you get some time.
I think yours may be different (but no less special - arguably even more if it is the original) to the hand-finished version Avant Arte announced would be allocated to a random winner - which happened to be me. Honestly can't believe my luck.
I've compared the paint drips on mine to the photos on their website and Instagram and am 100% certain it's mine.
It's really stunning with nice thick paint. Similar method used on the Clockwork Britain prints back in the day.
My paste up poster was also signed with black marker. Not sure if anyone else's was?
Here are some details (iPhone pics):

Paul Insect "PEACE" Print, by JW on Jun 13, 2022 15:50:31 GMT 1, Nice one! What a lovely surprise.
I'd be keen to see what your note says if you're willing to share. Is it hand-finished or signed?
(PS this nonsense word count isn't working properly for me on Chrome Desktop or mobile. I've had to try multiple different ways, and the only one that worked was quoting this message and then deleting everything for it to pick it up. And what is with the misleading and confusing "The thread in which you are posting will be stickied" message?
I'm sorry Daniel Silk, I get the intent, but this is yet another barrier to interacting here...)

Forum Website - Resolved, by JW on May 7, 2022 8:44:24 GMT 1, Try this? 1. Open the Settings app (Win+I keyboard shortcut). 2. Search "Mouse" 3. Toggle the "Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them" option to "off". Let me know Oh wow, that may have worked! I had to restart Chrome but it was happening in this thread, now it's not.
Thank you. That has been driving me bonkers for a long, long time.
I also had the issue with photos no longer showing up so had to disable uBlock. Thankfully adblock still keeps the bright constantly flashing ads away (which also drive me bonkers).

Help shipping large art prints, by JW on Apr 17, 2022 0:05:51 GMT 1, I ship for artists and given the choice I'd alway ship a print that size tubed. They're by their nature sturdier. Flat shipping is a nightmare and you're far better off building a crate if you're going down that route. The style of crate Pejac uses would be ideal. For a print of that value I'd double tube it. Print rolled in heavy weight kraft, triple taped with plenty of distance from the edges of the kraft. End protection on the kraft roll by taking strips and triple folding them then taping over the ends. Then bubble wrap around the kraft roll to ensure a snug fit in the tube. Seal that one up then put it in another tube or box that allows room for packing peanuts all the way round. Use sturdy tubes too. That's really great info so thank you. I buy tubes from Defendapack which have been very reliable to date, but I'm always looking for ways to ensure that the prints are safely packed into them.
If you were able to find some time to take photos of the process you describe in your post and links to materials you use, I'm sure many members (both buyers and sellers, including me) would benefit from your expertise.

Wanted - Banksy, by JW on Mar 21, 2022 22:04:40 GMT 1, It's the age old debate of whether said item is worth what the buyer paid (hammer +fees) or what the seller received (hammer -fees, if any).
In one-way markets you'll trade either side, but if it's relatively stable it's likely to be anywhere in between.
History will be the judge as to whether you were right to hold your ground or not - on both sides.

Wanted - Banksy, by JW on Mar 21, 2022 20:47:05 GMT 1, Purely speculating, but it might be the "recent hammers" comment that put some off.
If you're willing to meet somewhere in between hammer and inclusive of fees, it would be hard for most to argue against that.
Just my opinion.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by JW on Dec 14, 2021 21:25:04 GMT 1, A lot of people take out loans to purchase art, on the hope that their purchase will rise in value, a few people here used to discuss such methods 6-8years ago. The second bitcoin rise, a few people remortgaged their homes to purchase bitcoins and subsequently lost their homes. A lot of people are drawn to these markets to specifically make money and get caught up in the hype, look at the Banksy t shirts for example. You also have a few people that invest early in these scams and hype targeted to the unknowledgeable, I.e blok If they truly wanted to raise as much money for charity an open edition for month would of worked well at a sensible price Loans for personal art? Yes. There are even schemes such as Own Art that provide 0% financing up to £25k in some cases for people in the UK.

Banksy Bristol TShirt • Colston Four, by JW on Dec 11, 2021 18:45:43 GMT 1, If anyone could please provide the chest measurements of an M and L it would be much appreciated.
I saw the sign that said they are a slim fit so to go a size up, but I've seen that before and one person's view of "slim fit" is different to others.
Thanks!

Banksy Bristol TShirt • Colston Four, by JW on Dec 10, 2021 22:12:58 GMT 1, Was just about to say that it’s great for a buyer to get a numbered 1/200 but doesn’t leave much for the unfortunate 4 haha This isn't about raising money for the defendants. This is all about publicity for Banksy. You are talking absolute rubbish and just stirring shit as usual.
Why would he limit them to 200 for £25 a pop/number them/record them at Pest Control?
As a comparison, you could buy Walled Off Hotel shirts... shop.walledoffhotel.com/
Not limited. Not numbered. Not recorded by PCO.
(Edited as I thought they were still available online, but they may not be. I still stand by my point.)

New Banksy? Reading Prison , by JW on Dec 5, 2021 12:43:46 GMT 1, Here's the article from The Times.
Banksy sketches out £10m plan to free Oscar Wilde’s prison from developers
Banksy has pledged to raise millions of pounds to help buy the prison in which Oscar Wilde was incarcerated so it can be turned into an arts centre, rather than being sold to property developers to turn into flats.
The anonymous graffiti artist has offered to match the £10 million purchase price for HMP Reading — formerly Reading Gaol — by selling the stencil of a work he painted on the side of the grade II listed building in March.
Banksy is believed to have sold only one stencil before, making them the rarest part of his output. It has an estimated value of £10 million to £15 million and is set to be sold privately to a collector without an auction.
The record sale for a Banksy is £18.5 million, set at Sotheby’s in October for Love is in the Bin, the remains of a work that was partially shredded during a 2018 auction.
He said: “I had very little interest in Reading until I was on a rail replacement bus service that went past the jail. It’s rare to find an uninterrupted 500m-long paintable surface slap bang in the middle of a town; I literally clambered over the passenger next to me to get a closer look.
“I promised myself I’d paint the wall even before I knew what it was. I’m passionate about it now, though. Oscar Wilde is the patron saint of smashing two contrasting ideas together to create magic. Converting the place that destroyed him into a refuge for art feels so perfect we have to do it.”
Banksy’s offer, which is contingent on the Berkshire site being turned into an arts complex, supports plans by Reading borough council.
The derelict prison, disused since 2013, is owned by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and was first put up for sale in October 2019. The council bid £2.6 million in April last year and is lobbying to turn the jail into an arts centre to celebrate its heritage with a cinema, performance spaces and exhibition venues.
A petition organised by the Save Reading Gaol campaign has thousands of signatures and the support of the actors Dame Judi Dench, Stephen Fry and Kate Winslet.
The council bid was rejected and instead the MoJ agreed an undisclosed deal with Artisan Real Estate, but the sale collapsed in November last year because of significant heritage issues on the site. A second bid from the council was rejected in May and it was put back on the market in June.
Enter Banksy. The Bristol-based artist’s mural of an inmate escaping with a typewriter is considered a reference to Wilde, the jail’s most famous convict, who was held there from 1895 to 1897 for gross indecency after his affair with Lord Alfred “Bosie” Douglas was exposed.
Wilde wrote De Profundis, his letter of lament to his former lover, in his cell. After his release he remembered his time as a prisoner in The Ballad of Reading Gaol, one of the most quoted poems in English literature.
The stencil went on display at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery last week as part of an exhibition curated by the artist Grayson Perry to celebrate his Channel 4 series Grayson’s Art Club.
The jail is thought to stand on the site where Henry I, the son of William the Conqueror, was buried in 1136. His body is believed to lie beneath the car park. The jail also sits next to the ruins of Reading Abbey, the great Benedictine monastery founded by Henry, once among the largest in Europe.
The prison was opened in 1844. It was designed by George Gilbert Scott, architect of the Albert Memorial and the Midland Grand Hotel, now restored as the St Pancras Renaissance. Former inmates include the boxer Anthony Joshua, remanded there as a teenager when the prison was a young offenders’ institution, and the Victorian serial killer Amelia Dyer, who was said to have murdered up to 400 babies.
Matt Rodda, the Labour MP for Reading East, said last week that the council bid for the jail had been bolstered by a £2 million donation from a “leading figure in the arts community”.
The MoJ said: “The deadline for bids has passed and we are currently considering the ones we received.”

Next stop - fake accounts engaging in full-scale manipulation in both directions!

Dismaland canvas , by JW on Nov 14, 2021 2:17:56 GMT 1, The price should tell you everything you need to know.
"Artwork Buying Advice
There are a lot of people trying to sell fake Banksy’s who go to great lengths to make them seem real. If it seems too good to be true - it probably is.
You should always research the artwork you are being offered, there is normally information online as to what the edition size should be and distinctive features to look out for.
All artworks that have been certified as real should be accompanied by a Pest Control Office Certificate of Authentication.
Any galleries, online platforms or auction houses that you see selling artworks should have this paperwork to accompany the sale. If not, the work is likely to be a copy.
There are hundreds of stencils of Banksy images online, and unscrupulous people use them to make fakes - especially road signs for some reason - and then give them realistic sounding back stories in order to sell them for a lot of money. They are not real.
Always remain sceptical. There were no Dismaland Certificates of Authentication or ‘free art’, and Banksy has no license agreements - so things like the 'wine collaboration' are entirely deceitful."

There were no Dismaland Certificates of Authentication or ‘free art’, and Banksy has no license agreements - so things like the 'wine collaboration' are entirely deceitful." pestcontroloffice.com/real.asp

The show was entitled “A Forest”, unless I’m losing it in my old age, and I have a piece from that show. Yes I am also chatting to Max! Waterline show? A Forest was a print from the show.

I'm losing it in my old age too, so don't worry.
