They work pretty hard etc but the have a good time learn how to ski/snowboard etc. they party quite a lot but it's all pretty safe in comparrison to say going out in Cov it's an easy way for a youngster to experience life at a ski resort and some skiing/boarding away from dad etc on the cheap. But they have bosses who check on them. The people who are in the chalet might be a pain etc. so it's not all free and easy. They work pretty hard Assume you lad wants to do it. Your welcome to pm me if I can help anymore.

Martin Whatson En Pointe Print Release, by johnnyh on Nov 8, 2014 10:35:39 GMT 1, Generally in the art world people can't afford to care. To global a market and infringement is difficult to police and to chase up etc. lawyers, bills etc and you would probably Winn little in compensation etc.
Music on the other hand is ran by corporations and music publishing houses.....they have lawyers and legal departments coming out of their ears. Also the people infringing are either no bodies in which case they watch and care little or they are signed to another large publishing house or a large record label who have s**t loads of money and can pay big sums for any copyright infringements that they make.
So as usual is controlled by economics as opposed to right and wrong.
Ps Rene's problem was probably the fact that he knicked it from someone else!!!!

Stratosphere - "I would sell my soul to keep painting but..", by johnnyh on Nov 8, 2014 6:48:21 GMT 1, Brilliant stuff chaps. This definitely (aside from mad Andy at Castle's raffle) the best concept on here for a long while.
Great to see something supporting street art and artists not just flooding yesterday's latest print.
Hope everyone supports this

Martin Whatson En Pointe Print Release, by johnnyh on Nov 8, 2014 5:57:16 GMT 1, Well... That is not entirely accurate, is it? In one of her latest works (see her instagram) she is clearly copying a comic... Does she have talent? Sure. I guess... And so do hundreds and hundreds of not-famous artists... Her biggest contribution: adding comics to portraits... They're nice... Her artistic skills are not out of this world... Some of us are fan-boys, some of us are not. I actually prefer Sylvia Ji... But being the poor sod that I am, cannot afford her OGs... But do own two of her giclee prints. However- beauty (read: art) lies on the eye of the beholder... Cheers! You draw a smiley face and i will copy it by drawing it. this is not copyright infringement as i will draw it with my own hands. you take a photo and i will scan it in and print it out and add tags to it. this is copyright infringement as i have not reproduced the image with my own hands. hopefully that explains it. Unfortunately it doesn't for example work in the public domain may not have copy right protection. there are also exemptions from the base copyright rule. Thing called fair use. copyright can also be time consuming and expensive to protect particularly if your an artist and it is not the most valuable piece and the infringer is in another country. one of the exceptions to the copyright rule is transformative work. Which is what Martin would claim in this case in that although he started with the original image what he ended up with is actually his own unique artwork. Which is what happened in the Richard Prince case someone mentioned earlier. so regardless of what people think and shout about it...I would tend to believe that in a copyright law case they would probably side with Martin in that he transformed the work but I could be wrong on that which is why the copyright rule is a pain I the arse to manage particularly in the art market as it is very subjective

GCHQ intercepting communications with lawyers!, by johnnyh on Nov 7, 2014 16:10:49 GMT 1, He he your quite right sparky999 .......but as lawyers/barristers often say.... "I put it to you sir....that if the countries lawyers cannot or do not stop this blatant infringement by the crown......what chance or good does it do you shouting about it on an art forum? " Alternatively you could rip up a Banksy in protest!!! Art has historically been a leading light in forming the groundswell of a revolution - discussions about politics/human rights and freedom have every place on an art forum in my opinion. That may well be true but as I say I have a feeling the lawyers can look after themselves!!!
So probably best to leave your revolution for a day or two till something else pops up or at least till after the weekend!!

GCHQ intercepting communications with lawyers!, by johnnyh on Nov 7, 2014 15:50:41 GMT 1, Wouldn't worry about the lawyers they will probably get legal aid from the government to take the government to court.
Mi5 will bug the meeting and hear them fiddling their expenses but won't dare say anything otherwise they will know their listening and the whole process will start again.
Do you re kon the Goverment will get legal aid to defend the case that way they will be able to get a better lawyer than they have spies.....a good lawyer never gets caught!!

GCHQ intercepting communications with lawyers!, by johnnyh on Nov 7, 2014 11:41:22 GMT 1, Communications intercepted by a third party can be misconstrued with out appropriate context. The threat of terrorism is small - even if we had put zero money and effort into preventing terrorist attacks in the UK/America it's unlikely more than a few thousand people would have been killed as a result. If we had taken that time/money and effort and put it into healthcare/education/medical research we could of saved tens of millions of lives. To provide the 'safety' we currently enjoy we have had to be ok with torture/detention with out trial/conviction based entirely on hearsay/loss of privacy of communication/ financial privacy and now communication with our lawyers and I assume our doctors as well. Tis what the secret service is for though and to be fair they are only listening to lawyers who defend terrorists etc and from what I have read only those that have taken them to court. Now if you take M15 to court you've got to expect them to ( how shall we say) make enquires.
They don't do it to your average bloke talking to his lawyer for example if they had eaves dropped on John Terry talking to his lawyer I am pretty sure he would have got more than an 8 game ban.

Banksy-destroying council 'moronic' and 'cretinous', by johnnyh on Nov 7, 2014 10:21:12 GMT 1, Some brilliant comments
But it said it would be "delighted" if Banksy decided to return to Clacton to paint an "appropriate" piece of art

GCHQ intercepting communications with lawyers!, by johnnyh on Nov 7, 2014 9:59:16 GMT 1, Not sure that it should be such a big surprise that the country's secret spying agency has been spying in secret!!! Would tend to suggest that either they don't do it very much or they are not very good at it as they do tend to lose the cases!!! Which I suppose is supported by the fact that they have been caught and its on the BBC !! one would have hoped that the countries top secret spy's would spy and no one would know..which is the whole point I suppose so my complaint is that the incompetents got caught Your only complaint is that GCHQ got caught violating the basic right to privacy with counsel and encroached on the fundamental values of privacy and freedom, something many consider a basic human right? Whilst I absolutely respect your right to express an opinion - it is my opinion that people who are so inept as to not realise the cost of this intrusion of our basic human rights are the reason we currently live in a corrupt welfare driven society. I could go on but from experience idiots remain idots no matter how much information you give them. In my experience idiots usually fail to understand irony or sarcasm?

Ai Wei Wei at Blenheim Palace, by johnnyh on Nov 7, 2014 9:05:44 GMT 1, Cheers Londonboy.
Sounds good thought really interesting the combination.
Re the Antiques I have a feeling that the pieces are re works of old vases but they are not rare Ming type stuff as the press release stuff indicates. So I would not worry that Chinese treasures are being used or destroyed think it's a bit more symbolism than reality...not saying there not old but.. the wood stuff is that used from replacements during repairs etc but again would use a bit of a pinch of salt
china is pretty protective of its history and relics these days and realizes how much was destroyed during the cultural revolution and in rapid modernization

Andy Warhol 🇺🇸 Real or Fake? • Sunday B. Morning Print, by johnnyh on Nov 7, 2014 6:06:19 GMT 1, This looks like a really interesting show if your around there
www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2014/nov/06/sp-transmitting-andy-warhol-review-tate-liverpool
Discover the man who transformed the modern art world. Transmitting Andy Warhol brings together more than 100 artworks from one of the most influential, controversial and notorious artists of the twentieth century. The exhibition provides a new insight into the breadth of Warhol’s artistic processes, his philosophies, as well as the social, political and aesthetic implications of his ground-breaking practice. It was Warhol’s democratic belief that ‘art should be for everyone’. Transmitting Andy Warhol explores how the artist embraced the mass mediums of his time - publishing, film, music, and broadcast to transmit his ideas and imagery to as many people as possible. In doing so, Warhol radically re-defined access to culture and art, challenging traditional notions of high and low culture, private and mass experience. In his desire to make art public, Warhol’s practice spanned the worlds of art, media, music, fashion and celebrity. Exhibition highlights include the Marilyn Diptych 1962, Dance Diagram 1962 and Do-it-Yourself 1962 paintings. These will be shown alongside Warhol’s television commercials, fashion illustrations for Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, concert posters, his TV show and a dazzling display of his trailblazing celebrity magazine Interview. The exhibition will also include the much loved works Three Brillo Soap Pad Boxes 1964/68 and Campbell’s Soup I 1968. The exhibition includes a spectacular presentation of the travelling multi-media spectacle The Exploding Plastic Inevitable (EPI), Warhol’s famed ‘total art’ environment. Used as a framework for a series of performances by the Velvet Underground and Nico, EPI will bring the atmosphere of 1960s New York to the Liverpool Waterfront. Transmitting Andy Warhol is exhibited alongside Gretchen Bender and the The Serving Library to form Tate Liverpool’s autumn/winter season - Making Things Public. Across the gallery, you are invited to explore how artists from different generations have responded to and experimented with the pervasive influence of mass and broadcast media. Whether you’re visiting Liverpool to do your Christmas shopping, take in the Liverpool Christmas lights or enjoy Liverpool’s Christmas markets, Tate Liverpool is the perfect addition to your trip. We have a wide selection of unique, art inspired Christmas gifts in the Tate Liverpool shop and a delicious selection of comforting treats in the Tate Liverpool Café; perfect for a winter’s day. Be sure to try one of our fabulous Marilyn cupcakes, also available gluten free.

Martin Whatson En Pointe Print Release, by johnnyh on Nov 6, 2014 5:58:51 GMT 1, Got to agree with Thomasmer there as a lot of people forget he started out on here and was just doing his thing and as he says pretty sure he will carry on doing his thing.
He is also a very nice guy I used to be in touch with him quite reg on here. He did a lovely Eternal Reflection canvas for me.....it was very cheap and he donated half what zi gave him to charity.
He has always taken a fair bit of stick on here and although other than that Eternal Reflection Zi don't have anything else it is good to see him doing well. Not too easy to earn a living as an artist particularly when you have a young family and are starting your art career so good luck to him I say
