Gonefellow 🇬🇧 Print Release • Street Art • Art For Sale, by Black Apple Art on Dec 14, 2016 22:18:27 GMT 1, Modern multiples printing that? Really. why not get someone closer to home to do it for less (quality looks like any printer could do it) then you would make more for charity as the overheads must be stupid. Just, trying to be realistic : Gonefellow is The Mistery ( not outisx at all, stop some here saying stupidities : you have seen any similar JPS style in this one ? Me not) This prints are the best thing since Dismaland and his mysteries! Since the end of Banksy prints ! A lot of similar with mister B even if it's not him : Modern multiples. Shipping in a wood package. Funny COA. Etc .. And who do you think have paid the printing cost in LA - as you wrote ,,That it could be easier and cheaper in UK ) ?! Maybe those mystery prints ( best And mysterious since B. Years ) have been paid by someone ( s ? ) who is ( are ) close to the artist and his model . Nobody thought that here ? ( you all know the names of two legends closed to the man ! Why to still deny? You alll wanted a Soecial tee made by two persons , after BNE flop )? It's not a fantasy nor a phantasm, obviously we, they, could not pay nor play with so many Banksy styles And ressemblances as these fabulous prints., We are living a dream again ! Let's me keeping dreamin eyes wide opened ! And if you don't believe me. Never mind :-) I know I'm a fuckin fool and you all zapp or ignore my posts ! Let's me eat my soup now ! Slurp ! :-) Just have to reiterate that I truly think Lroy is a UAA treasure. Ok carry on...

Donuts, VLH, Applause, Retna , by Black Apple Art on Dec 6, 2016 10:00:26 GMT 1,
Surprises me that. The early screen prints were effectively student wall posters. At the prices they sold at and with the Banksy name in its relative infancy, I can understand many having significant condition issues, but, by the time Very Little Helps comes around, the Banksy market is in fervour. You have to apply for the chance to win this print and if lucky you then have to pay a significant amount of money. If you don't win and you really want it, you were paying triple release price on the secondary market.
For that to end with a print with those kind of condition issues I find fascinating. From all I have seen and continue to see, I'd estimate that 85%+ of B prints as a whole have issues and about 1/4 of those can be restored to 8 or better condition. Issues are definitely more prevalent in earlier releases but are also very common on more recent editions from mishandling and bad framing, especially those with deckled edges since most people ( framers) tend to float these the wrong way and create irreversible damage in the process. Bottom line is finding a 8+ print and above these days is truly a rare gem, this amongst pieces that are already rare in almost any condition ( with coa of course).

Should I be afraid to buy a Banksy?, by Black Apple Art on Dec 5, 2016 18:09:51 GMT 1, Hi everybody, lets make clear that this is just a rethorical question, as i (unfortunately) cannot afford to buy any of his works. Lets say one day i'll sell all my prints, add some extra money and buy one or two Banksy. Is it going to be a smart choice? Apart from the "buy only art that you like and you cant be wrong" mantra, we are not talking about a 300 pounds print here; when you are buying a Banksy you are not just buying art but also making an investment (and an expensive one). Now, let's not take into account the whole conspiracy theory of him being a product pushed into the market by a few gallerists, and let's not question this aspect. Banksy being "Banksy" it is a variable that should be put into account. What if one day he might go completely bananas and start releasing prints like there is no tomorrow with the only purpose to screw the international art market up? so, should i be afraid to buy a Banksy? Nope. Hands down best investment you can make in art and most other categories when taking into account factors like demand/supply, liquidity and appreciation. Then throw in his phenomenal history, deep meaning and an exciting future as a bonus.

Kaws Piranhas When You're Sleeping Print, by Black Apple Art on Nov 30, 2016 0:44:52 GMT 1, I think its kind of like not being allowed to have a tiger as a pet. I thought that. But according to my new friends on the fish forum, it's something to do with Piranhas being able to survive in Florida waters. I think they're worried they'll be released into the wild and eat all the alligators. Not legal in LA either and I assume most warm weather states. They can easily breed to dangerous levels in freshwater that averages between 76° and 83° F (24.5° and 28.5° C) so pretty much a no brainer in states with those ranges

Banksy original prices , by Black Apple Art on Nov 27, 2016 13:43:55 GMT 1, In my opinion, Banksy's best work is (and always has been) non-print related.
Not knocking his prints in the slightest, but his street works/outside japes are brilliant.
Whole heartedly agree doc
I agree as well. And as you have probability seen when people sometimes argue that the prices of his work are now out of reach for his true fans, I continue to believe that his best work is absolutely free, asside from the £3 Dismaland admision if you were a non local adult.

Banksy original prices , by Black Apple Art on Nov 27, 2016 12:51:58 GMT 1, I know it's comparing apples to oranges, but without actually putting the street work in, I wonder how this print/image would be received today, if an artist posted it on here as "my first print". You could argue that a lot of people wouldn't even be here to judge such a work had it not been for this artist and this work to begin with. An interesting conundrum! Good to keep in mind the guy hasn't had a public release in over 6 years. If you tried to find an artist that has done that who has had a quarter of the recognition as B, you'd come up with big ZERO. A true phenomenon that is only in it's infancy.

'Optimum' Low glare UV - is it worth it? Before & After , by Black Apple Art on Nov 19, 2016 2:19:47 GMT 1, Still not sure why but if you are in the US, Optium TruVue is literally half the cost as is most framing expenses. Also 100% true that after you have done one piece in the museum plexi, it will then make your other pieces look exponentially worse off.

Banksy £10 • Di Faced Tenner Full Sheet of 10, by Black Apple Art on Nov 10, 2016 23:13:05 GMT 1, the full sheets of di-faced tenners were released in two editions - a regular edition of 50, and an AP edition of 32, all of which were stamped, numbered and signed. anything that doesn't meet these specs is fake. thugs is correct. The only tenners issued COAs were the sheets since they are not cut into notes and hence the loophole where they are legal for PC to sell. I have seen both signed and unsigned sheets with PC. Anything else including the single notes are a total gamble and with so many fakes out there unless you got it from POW or Laz, they are pretty much worthless.

Unframing question, by Black Apple Art on Nov 4, 2016 21:31:28 GMT 1, Hi all, thinking of selling some of my banksys soon and wanted to ask for some advice. All are beautifully conservation framed by MFM with UV glass. Obviously i appreciate that most buyers want to inspect the print so no matter how great the framing, it needs unframing by the framer first no? Or do i sell framed? If i do get it unframed first before selling, whats the general consensus with Japanese hinges? Just cut them off proud and sell attached so they can be re-used for framing or get GB to remove them properly which probably isn't good for the print long term if it's going to be reframed in the same manner? Any help appreciated or pm me if you prefer To get the best price and for total transparency I would deframe and and have hinges removed. If they were done properly they will be easily removed which is the entire reason for using them.

can we dispel the notion that lower print # means anything?, by Black Apple Art on Oct 31, 2016 19:00:45 GMT 1, I believe this notion is derived from two factors spawned long ago.
#1) The fact that most signing any long number of items tend to have their best signatures in the beginning of the run ( given that they are signed in order) and often turn to scribbles and less recognizable at the end of a run. This is very prominent in many other collectibles that many not be numbered but judged on the quality of the signature aside from provenance of course.
#2) Purely the fact that the #1 and subsequent lower numbers have usually gone to friends or special people of the artist, giving it some mystical quality that it was intended for "someone special". I think it is pretty undeniable that when receiving a #1 in a series of pretty much anything of value, we automatically give it a higher value than the others in the series regardless of the logic against it. Rare anyone would get a #1 by chance as they are almost always pulled aside for someone or retained by the artist. Of course meaningless to some but definitely has value for many others in the same respect someone may give a higher value to a non variant "AP". Also very similar to the halo effect that a famous prior owner might give a car or work of art. JFK's golf clubs sold for $1.6M back in 1996 which could have been had for a few hundred new. An extreme case but the psychology is the same in the perceived higher value and desirability.

Dear Banksy, by Black Apple Art on Oct 31, 2016 17:08:52 GMT 1, Was anyone else surprised by just how (relatively) little saleable tat was on offer at Dismaland?
A less reputable outfit would have merchandised the sh*it out of it. I think that can be said for the entire B campaign to date and seems to be a theme he sticks too more than any other living artists anywhere near his level.

New Pejac work in Croatia, by Black Apple Art on Oct 28, 2016 2:51:30 GMT 1, In terms of creativity and his choice of 'materials' to work on, he is on par with mr b? He's one up imo! Who can think of doing those birds in broken glass? Definitely a point that sets them apart but keep in mind that Banksy's works, for the most part, are all "non sanctioned" and usually not possible to take the time pejac does for placement and using other mediums such as glass ect. Not to mention B having been at it for 16+ years with a massive body of stellar work and still anonymous and never caught. IMO pejac is still in the early stages of his career and even to be considered close to Bs level is a monumental accomplishment and well deserved.

Show us YOUR - Canvas, by Black Apple Art on Oct 18, 2016 17:59:21 GMT 1, Seems as relevant place as any but what are peoples thoughts on canvas behind UV glass or bare? Ive got a few I'm undecided on...obviously value will come into the equation.... I like the 'natural' hanging of canvases so you can really see the textures but know its a personal thing... I only use museum plexi on canvases that need protection and it's honestly hard to even see it's there. Plexi has come down in price considerably in the US so no excuse not to use it here. Framing in the UK is 2-3X more which I still don't quite understand.

Damien Hirst's first major exhibition since 2004, by Black Apple Art on Oct 17, 2016 22:38:45 GMT 1,
Damien Hirst is going Large for his first major exhibition since 2004. Ten years in the making it needs two venues to house it.
The exhibition, which will open to the public on April 9th 2017, marks the first time in the museums’ history that the two Venetian venues of the Pinault Collection will be dedicated to a single artist. It is also the first major solo exhibition dedicated to Damien Hirst in Italy since the 2004 retrospective at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Naples. The exhibition is curated by Elena Geuna, curator of the monographic shows dedicated to Rudolf Stingel (2013) and Sigmar Polke (2016) presented at Palazzo Grassi. Damien Hirst’s latest project has been ten years in the making. The Venice exhibition highlights the longstanding relationship shared by the artist and the Pinault Collection. A key artist for the Collection, Damien Hirst’s work has previously been exhibited at Palazzo Grassi, where it featured in the Palazzo’s 2006 inaugural exhibition “Where Are We Going?”. This group exhibition derived its title from the British artist’s steel and glass skeleton cabinet, ‘Where Are We Going? Where Do We Come From? Is There a Reason?’ (2000–2004). Damien Hirst also featured in “A Post-Pop selection” in 2007. In addition, the artist has appeared in major exhibitions of the Pinault Collection at the Conciergerie in Paris in 2013 (“A Triple Tour”), and at the Grimaldi Forum di Monaco in 2014 (“ArtLovers”).

LOS ANGELES Framers • Who do you Recommend?, by Black Apple Art on Oct 11, 2016 3:58:27 GMT 1, Their downtown location is appropriately called "downtown framing" and run by Jose. Will be impossible to beat there pricing as they have much more flexibility than their other locations and over many years they have framed hundreds of works for me and know how to properly frame a print and or canvas. Thanks Black Apple. How would you compare Framing Devil to Allan Jeffries and do you have any experience with their Manhattan Beach location (it's significantly closer to where I live compared to Framing Devil or DTLA)? PMed
