Invader โข Invasion Kits IK, by RetroCanvas on Dec 12, 2006 19:37:02 GMT 1, I might start using that one.
Quite a few say that about my work and it really gets at me.
Here I am spending more time than people think on designing and painting stuff for people to just say "Thats easy" and "I could do that for ยฃ50" or "ยฃ300! F OFF!"
DIY art is great, but you are in fact appreciating an artists work by buying his/her own artwork.

A friend of mine in the art world told me a valuable thing a long time ago. When people say "Oh I could have done that" The answer is: "Maybe so... but you didn't!"

Conor Harrington, by RetroCanvas on Mar 7, 2007 0:24:05 GMT 1, Agreed, I love Conor's stuff. I don't see why you think he's behind Micallef though. Micallef's stuff just doesn't do anything for me.
Retro
I personally think that Conor Harrington is deservedly in line to be the next big thing after Antony Micallef, far more so than Dan Baldwin that everyone's been talking about. I bought an original a while back from the StolenSpace gallery and in the flesh his work is even more amazing than images online, one of the best things I've bought. I heard that Damien Hirst bought a few originals from the show he had at a Laz, and although that's not a reason in itself to buy his work, it can't be a bad sign. Hopefully the price of the new print through Laz will be under ยฃ1k, and I'd also keep an eye on StolenSpace for new work of his. IN a time where a lot of things are selling out on the back of hype and just to make a fast buck, I reckon Conor Harrington has staying power for the long term. Anyway, that's my two cents worth..

The artist is apparently a female artist named Erica Il Cane, not Eric Cilcane. They corrected the name on the POW website.

Not that I want to buy it but is that good old question in your head about selling it or keeping it?

Your latest Art Purchase?, by RetroCanvas on Jan 28, 2007 17:58:27 GMT 1, Thought I'd get at least a few comments about my latest purchase

You got it! You would have seen this at the Banksy, Crude Oils Exhibition in London Last year.
Just had the chance to take photo's of it and upload it.
I had it commission by Mr Eggs himself just before Chrimbo and its been personalised to me :-). I think the original one is lying in the hands of Mr Laz and don't think he'll hand it over to anyone.
www.retrocanvas.co.uk/images/Eggie Magritte back.jpg[/img]
I liked many of Eggs's prints but lots of em are sold out so decided to email with my request. Check him out at www.mreggs.com. Very nice chap and great artwork.
What do you peeps reackon of my Crude Oils souvenir? Bought it for the missus as it was her fave at the exhibition. Trust it not to be a Banksy. Women.. tut.. :-)

Your latest Art Purchase?, by RetroCanvas on Nov 17, 2006 13:58:41 GMT 1, The more I see this print the more I like it. It definately looks best in the flesh. I had seen it at Santa's ghetto last year but it wasn't framed as good as yours. It does make a big difference doesn't it.
Quality.

Banksy in Bristol, Park Street Mural, by RetroCanvas on May 13, 2007 10:56:54 GMT 1, I was out in Bristol last night and saw this close up from the bridge. Just wanted to say that it is tremendous. I don't know how Banksy got it there. He would have had to have had a very big ladder and it's so nicely done that it would have taken him some time. And where it is, no matter what time of the day or night, someone must have been around.
Seeing it in person is a must if you can, lets hope it stays there for a while.
Retro
p.s. I did take some photo's on my phone but it's utterly pointles to post them here (they're cack basically).

Early Banksy Art, by RetroCanvas on Feb 17, 2007 23:43:20 GMT 1, Cool, thought i'd read it somewhere, didn't think it was in a book though
DBZ??? Haven't a clue and the web tells me nothing about it either.
I'm sure someone on the forum will know, or will 'soon' know.
Retro
I think he said that in one of his books, didn't he? There's a couple more pre-stencil tags on this page from August 1999. Check out Kato and Sake. www.graffiti.org/dj/n-igma5/bristol1.htmlThey're usually with the tag DBZ by them - was DBZ their crew back then? It appears near Kato, Tes, and Sake's stuff. What's it stand for?

Early Banksy Art, by RetroCanvas on Feb 17, 2007 22:39:45 GMT 1, Yeah,
Apparently, in one of Banksy's rare interviews I read on the net somewhere, he says that he wasn't very good at the skill of spraycan art. Thats why he started to stencil.
Therefore, perhaps he was kato's assistant or something???
Retro
Just been nosin' around an old Graf online fanzine called N-Igma and there's a whole page of Bristol tags from April 1999. Check out any pics that say KATO and you'll see hand-sprayed Banksy tags by each one! www.graffiti.org/dj/n-igma3/uk1.htmlCan't see anything of even his early cartoon style in them though? Anyone recognise their location or know if they're still up?

Banksy Links, by RetroCanvas on Apr 29, 2007 21:04:35 GMT 1, Sorry, I haven't a clue when it was taken. I actually found this whilst googling 'space invaders'.
I've been meaning to do a space invader/retro arcade painting for ages but have been busy. wanted to look for some inspiration.

do you know how recent this was taken? i think my girl told me about this. there is a banksy rat a block away from my house i've been planning on photograhphing and posting on here. its at the corner of franklin and vermont in Los Angeles on the back of an electric box in the 711 parking lot. photos coming soon.
