Banksy Canvas, by RetroCanvas on Apr 28, 2006 12:28:39 GMT 1, No problem, I haven't been posting as much lately but am always keeping up to date with the convo's that go on in here.
Just a thought but to increase the awarenes of the forum could you not create a banner that people could include on their ebay listings. It will benifit you as it will get you more members (hopefully) and it will benifit the seller as buyers will know that the sellar is so sure about the print/product that they will refer the buyers to the fans forum.
Just a thought.

Banksy Canvas, by RetroCanvas on Apr 27, 2006 23:39:43 GMT 1, Hello all but particullarly the mods,
Was just looking through the Original canvas section and thought that i'd mention that you could include the "you told that joke twice" painting. I can remember seeing an image of it on a bristol website with a section on banksy.
Good work, the forum is an asset to his work me thinks and it has improved at lot in a short space of time.

New Artists With Most Potential, by RetroCanvas on Jul 23, 2007 21:21:05 GMT 1, What do you mean when you say "who has most potential". Do you mean, who will appeal to most people or who has most potential to make a return on your investing in their work??? I suppose they go hand in hand.
With most artists, its just a case of getting your art in front of people. Just look what this forum has done to some artists over the last year, its amazing! My art is by no means ground breaking but I sold about 60 originals last year by getting out to the people that like and buy/commission art, just because they like it.
My answer to your question would be the artists that are doing the most promoting and getting the most publicity about their art. Nobody can beat Banksy, Surely??
Retro
Hey, It would be interesting to know what people think on artists with the most potential in the next 12 months. Who are the guys who are just starting out now, but who will have risen the highest this time in 2008. Your thoughts appreciated... Stuey*Esquire

What would you have?, by RetroCanvas on Jun 3, 2006 18:05:41 GMT 1, Is that any 'Banksy' print?? I take it is is so I'd like a signed Weston-Super-Mare. Why, because I went to art college there and I can relate to the meaning of the peice. It's also an early sold out print that would only be in the hands of the collectors and not the money grabbing ebay buyers.

new POW F5 logo, by RetroCanvas on May 22, 2007 0:43:51 GMT 1, I like that sort of stuff,
Obey's got a great one using the same idea.
cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110129768679&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:uk
I love the way it's really subtle.
nite253, Could you take it the next step and add an extra tone in there. By Normal dark grey, bold dark grey and black. That would be impressive.
I know what you mean about things like this taking time.
I did a hand painting for Virgin Mobile out of dots!
Check it here www.retrocanvas.co.uk/gallery_1.html
Took ages, I love it tho
Retro
Along with my che (see below) I have created the POW logo using F5! I know the image has been done to death but I had to start on something easily recognizable, what do you guys think? This is a picture of Che Guevara, made up from Che's Farewell Letter to Fidel Castro on the 1st April 1965. let me know what you think?

I.e. giving you up to the second details of new Banksy prints!

my mac f5 key does nowt! certainly doesn't guarantee me a BANKSY by pushing it! what does it do, combine a collective power of force i.e. voltron, to stop these ebum thieves from purchasing prints and sticking on the bay within minutes!

Banksy.co.uk • Official Banksy Website , by RetroCanvas on Mar 5, 2007 22:40:57 GMT 1, Just noticed also,
On the shop page, the image at the top of the menu bar is a man throwing a copyright sign in the bin. Quality.
I wonder why the people that sell the fake banksy shirts, badges, canvases etc don't care that they're breaking copyright law!

Print numbering, by RetroCanvas on Jan 29, 2006 11:20:40 GMT 1, I have a signed one. It is 53/150 and is signed Banksy04
If everyone is game. I think it would be a good exercise to make some kind of spreadsheet that includes the print name, number of how many, signed or not, year next to signiture and the sides the sig and stamp are (if they have one) what do you think?
I don't mind doing this. I'm slightly worried about all these differences people are saying about the numbering etc.

POW - is it worth it anymore?, by RetroCanvas on Dec 2, 2006 21:09:30 GMT 1, I hear what you're saying. I think that POW are slightly pushing it on the service front. I think they are also struggling to stick with their initial brand values, the buy to sell market dosn't help them there!
In my opinion, I still think that they are 'affordable'. And as an artist myself I understand the work involved in creating such work so they do deserve a pat on the back for that.
Dealing with the artist does have it's advantages. I sell my paintings on a one to one basis so that every customer gets exactly what they want. I have just commissioned a painting direct from Mr Eggs (www.mreggs.com) and I would really recomend his stuff.
Any way, the oven is beeping at me,
Retro
Most of us on this forum have been supporting POW for quite some time and are entitled to feel disappointed with what has happened recently. Personally, I felt that the sale of the applause print was a mess - disorganised and random. After visiting SG myself and hearing similar tales from everyone else, I feel that we have all been treated with contempt. Poor customer service is one thing - this is more sinister. We have been told that SG is affordable art and the perfect tonic to corporate christmas. I feel that SG gave me one of the most corporate, unfriendly experiences I have ever had! I'm asking myself is it worth it? Is it that affordable? Do I want to be treated this way by an organisation? Are their values still valid? The answer to the last question is a definite no for me. I will be trying to buy stuff direct from artists in the future wherever possible, in an effort to avoid contributing to the POW monster ego and the contempt they treat their customers with.

Banksy Crude Oils - Video, by RetroCanvas on Jun 6, 2006 12:37:54 GMT 1, He pulled a 'Banksy' at a Banksy exhibition :-)
I didn't know it was Mr Eggs, quality.
In that case, there's no need to put it up on the site. If someone does want to see a pic of it, I do have one on pc. Let me know and i'll post it on here.

Banksy Crude Oils - Video, by RetroCanvas on Jun 5, 2006 22:52:14 GMT 1, Hi All, particularly moderators,
Wast just going through all the original canvases and noticed that you have got all the Crude Oils paintings apart from the really small one of the bloke with an egg on his face. How could you miss it :-)
Also, I know this is petty, but you have named the 'Tomato Soup' canvas 'Tomato Sauce' in the Originals section ;-)
Youo could have a, 'Whats Wrong With Us' thread like they do in magazines. People can point out where you've gone wrong, tut.

Deal of the day, by RetroCanvas on May 5, 2007 18:39:52 GMT 1, Banksy's Soup Can poster from POW for a tenner is a really BIG bargain.
Get a cheap frame and mount for £20 and for just under £35 you've got yourself a nice wall space filler.
Do we all agree?
