Share the STIK love!, by agu on Apr 13, 2016 8:48:42 GMT 1, Thanks for posting. I would have missed it. It strange how Stiks work just "pops" more with sharp lines and a clean background, esp when you consider its origins as street art i.e sprayed lines with a "street" background. In some ways he's achieved what Banksy used PC to do. I.e. make removing the work from the street less desireable.

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by agu on Apr 10, 2016 20:18:16 GMT 1, Thank You Chrisell66. Clearly I need to delve deeper. Any idea what happens once the foundation "pulled the plug"? I guess that has ramifications for pest control. What would happen to the ledger of registered COA's if they upped sticks?

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by agu on Apr 10, 2016 11:48:01 GMT 1, I'm still interested in the the work of and legend that surrounds banksy rather than the money the nimorc is/is not going to make, so I'm going to stick my neck out again. Just in case anyone fancies a discussion.
2 questions:
Why is there zero interest in finding out if this is in any way draw by the man himself ?
Why is Pest control the ONLY way to authenticate a banksy? This is not true for other art so why does it hold true in this case? PC is certainly the easiest, most accurate route - But why is it excepted as the only one?

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by agu on Apr 3, 2016 19:42:27 GMT 1, I would like to offer an alternative ยฃ0.02. Letโs not worry about how much it is worth and if someone I do not know is/is not going to make a windfall. Letโs consider its interest as art. i.e what it is and what it shows us about the way the artist works.
If it is an early sketch of Pulp Fiction, THATโS JUST INTERESTING! As someone who collects Banksy for his art rather than the future value, I would love to see part of the formation process such a brilliant piece or just an artistโs freehand doodle.
Why will PC not authenticate? I understand that, by refusing to authenticate work they do not want to see sold, Pest Control, prevents forgeries, theft and discourages people removing street art from the street. This is a useful to banksy/art lovers and buyers - it stops us being ripped off - and helps preserve the โworks in the wildโ for all to enjoy. For this, we thank you. In this specific case, Iโm not sure what a refusal to authenticate is doing for anyone.
Assuming piece was legitimately acquired, i.e. it was leftover after Santaโs Grotto and that ninorc was given the piece/asked permission to remove it from a relevant person, at the time. If so, he broke no laws and did not remove work from the street. You could argue that as a sample it was intended to drive sales, if not be sold itself and therefore was a piece with commercial intent. Why should the fact that it was a sample vs. print vs a proof (many of which are sold), and many years later might be valuable, be held against him? Itโs not like he stole the screens and is producing knock offs, or ripped down a wall to get it. Nor we can go back and raid the bins for more pieces. In fact, he may have done us all a favour, by looking and preserving a small part of the back story to an awesome piece.
So my suggestions: Letโs not worry for if not ninorc is โs**t outta luckโ or โrolling in cloverโ either way itโs his future, good luck to him. Many people make much more money, doing perfectly legal but totally evil things - every day. As members or the UAA letโs collectively ask PC to consider authenticating this piece of history so it is not lost or falsely revered. Finally we could come up with a way to break the deadlock. And constructive ways with which this can happen. If authenticated: No-one is hurt Banksy would be due his artistโs rights on any sale - not that he wants/needs them Ninorc could agree to give anything over the ยฃ15k service charge bill he faces to a charity and upload decent hi-res pics to the forum We all get to know/ see if this is a little bit of history
Ninorc / PC / UUA want do you say? We could light a small candle of interest in a dull s**tty world of bombs and Trump hate politics/ and make some-ones day that's got to be a better ending surely.
That said, Ninorc if you took it without consent...

Share the STIK love!, by agu on Apr 2, 2016 21:57:15 GMT 1, I have a blue Liberty print I think I might sell after this ! let me know if you do, I'd love to take it off your hands I'll fight you for it!...Not really. What it comes down to is Stiks work as many lovers and a limited supply.
Why is it in demand? For me, its about is a kindness and simplicity to it that contrasts to an over produced, over stimulated, less thoughtful world. Thats pretty valuable.
Why is supply limited? Stik wants it to be special and is not a greed head. He also has to "find a balance" which is not known or clear, in his shoes - a cautious approach is probably right. The rest plays out on its own.
Just my ยฃ0.02

Inside Art Collectors Homes, by agu on Mar 29, 2016 13:20:03 GMT 1, I like it. I feel like finding a piece of art by an artist that goes by Unknown is going to be more that a PITA 100% agree, I have spent 20mins trying to find anything on this dude...or dudette. Nothing..too many flase positives in any search. While undoubtedly cool, it may hinder this artist's rise to fame

Show us Your own Artwork ๐จ, by agu on Mar 28, 2016 20:06:42 GMT 1, bloody germans, I did this in my local VW dealers toilet why? I am assuming it is a reference to the emissions scandal that has put a serious dent in the resale value of the car he spent his hard earned buying. I would side with him on the ire/pissed-of-edness but point out that (dishonest) people of various nationalities worked to hide the truth on behalf of the company.

Share the STIK love!, by agu on Mar 28, 2016 9:25:16 GMT 1, Street art is only growing in popularity! People under 40 do not want old oil paintings of lords hanging on their walls IMO. Stik doesn't flood the market too and isn't motivated by money at all (like Eelus etc) In a way I hope he doesn't become unpopular so I can afford to buy more prints for my wall! yeps, I don't like Eelus too I have a few early Eeluses or is it Eeli. that I love. Shat at, What you lookin at, See what I saw also, Nesting, Falling and Raven haired... but I have to say I am "moving on" in my tastes. Maybe Eelus is the starter drug for Urban Art? Nothing to scary not likely to offend etc. That said Tiffany for Breakfast was fun.

Share the STIK love!, by agu on Mar 27, 2016 8:24:42 GMT 1, should I have to sell my single mom then, Daniel ? I don't know , I spoke about with my nephew this morning ( I had an offer for 5 k ) , he knows that I am not rich ( I'm not complaining that's a fact ) , I was lucky ( I could buy a signed Banksy then if I known about ) enough with horses to get some prints after Banksy movie and to get this mum for 70 ยฃ... My nephew asked me why, why I don't sell it ? I just answered, because I like it on my wall. There is some prints ( apart another Big Bang in my life )that I will never sell , because I am passionate of all since I am a kid : collector of all and nothing ! Just jumping from collections to collections : liberty and colors are inside also , and not only outside, running by the street between the walls. Yes, I can understand your questions about Stik , but a lot won't stay too : what happened to Roa, Dal East, Evol, Etc etc ? .., three of the best ! Is Zoehac will stay ( another amazing creator ) ? Not sure... Yeah, I guess only time will tell. Time answers most questions. How often do you hear on antiques roadshow "they were very popular at the time but"...Toby jugs where once all the rage. IMHO if it you don't want to look at it... Don't buy it. If you want to make only shares in the tech giants are a better bet...for me, I love the simplicity of Stik. Also love that his art is gentle and positive.

Inside Art Collectors Homes, by agu on Mar 20, 2016 9:12:57 GMT 1, No need to frame it, it's a crispy clean image and looks great as it is. I personally think only busy paintings on canvas need framing like Parla or forum artist abc are good examples framed. Another vote for no frame. I love seeing the canvas edges, makes them "feel real: for me. Love work who is it by?
Also love the eames rocking chair is it upholstered? Have never seen one that colour.
Nice rocket too...

Inside Art Collectors Homes, by agu on Mar 15, 2016 12:43:26 GMT 1, "I enjoy your enthusiasm, the artwork itself (with notable exceptions) a little less so." Ouch!. My mum always said if you can't say something nice...
FWITW, IMHO This thread has been amazing, and on any level these places have been above and beyond the rancid chintz-fests, that I regularly get dragged to in order to listen to someone-else's offspring torturing an out of tune violin. I kid you not, if I see one more poster of french bistro art or a car boot sale landscape I will not be responsible for my actions.
and I LOVE Love the Bobba Fett print who is it by?

For Sales Thread Improvements , by agu on Mar 13, 2016 14:37:20 GMT 1, Great to see the discussion about newbie sales thread. As a newbie I have been really impressed by the quality of discussion and debate on all topics so I offer this POV.
"More people selling their art here acts a service to the members, even if they do not contribute to the debate" 1) We get first dibs on the work before the wider world. 2) If the seller is know and get support postings from others we can be more confident 3) Comments from the more clued up members help to warn of dangers: fakes/overpricing/condition etc
At the end of the day if someone just wants to offload great art, I'm happy to get the chance to bag it before some dealer/flipper.
The more the community acts like a community, vs discussion on sales threads warnings, endorsements etc, the community benefits from choice AND information which is a real advantage. 1 post wonders will have to provide realistic prices and more assurances to get their sales vs established trusted members.
The guardians/senior members et al should not bear the responsibility for policing but I can honestly say when I see a positive or negative comment from a 6 star 6,599 posting member it carries considerable weight for me at any rate which would ultimately affect the buy/no buy or the final price. So in that sense the seller benefits from being a contributing member.
Net net : no rules required...but I do enjoy seeing people flamed. Does that make me a bad person?

FS: Unsigned Paper. Great Image. Ed25, by agu on Mar 13, 2016 13:29:21 GMT 1, Does anyone else share my deep concern that such an important piece might be leaving the country. Surely we can find the means to keep in in England for future generations to enjoy. Even if it is lost in some huge national museum storage vault, at least we can enjoy the knowledge that it in on British soil.

FS: Unsigned Paper. Great Image. Ed25, by agu on Mar 11, 2016 5:58:05 GMT 1, An astute observation. The buying of the piece of paper would move the concept past the conceptual and bring the art into being. Making it, if you will, the distillate of the found art movement, while at the same time embodying minimalism thus bringing together a number of important schools of art in a single synaptic conclusion...
IMHO GLWS

Eelus original edition 25, by agu on Mar 1, 2016 16:49:27 GMT 1, Omg that is so cool.
My wife would kill me if I arrived home with that. I have a print on the wall ! Question ยฃ1250 seems so cheap. IMHO this is one of his **best pieces** in a great colourway for a CANVAS! I regularly see the latest pieces (of which I am not in love with) trading for over ยฃ1k for print, but these earlier ones don't seem to get the love.
Why is that? A Banksy canvas is worth 10x a print so why not for EELUS?
WDTLFWGT (well done the luck f.. er I mean person who gets this)

Eine Change Box Set, by agu on Feb 21, 2016 23:07:52 GMT 1, I have always been surprised that so much of his work is available at such reasonable prices. I love his work I just can't decide which one I want. That said...If you are a looking for a quick buck then he probably is not the artist to go for but what do I know.
The golden rule "Only buy it, if you like it".

Tendinitis, Upper forearm - any advice, by agu on Feb 21, 2016 10:56:58 GMT 1, Fair point and I would stress that I am not a Physio. That said the tendons run through the whole muscle and I find my forearm gets really stiff and it seems to exert more pressure into a couple of points near my elbow. Which then get **REALLY** sore. I also understand that ligaments have very poor blood supply. Massage works for me, I have 3 theories. 1) It frees the muscle to spread the load 2) It improves blood flow to a the ligaments 3) I like having my arms covered in oil and stroked by a friendly therapist
I know for sure 3 is true, the others maybe
Would also highly recommend getting posture/seating etc sorted if you work at a desk/on a computer
Failing all the above take it easy if "working from home"
