Early Banksy Art, by frankiefrench on Feb 7, 2017 13:49:37 GMT 1, I thought you called it dredging up This is actually a worthwhile thread that I like. It wasn't someone bringing up a thread to complain about it, which seems a bit asinine. Cool. That was possibly a copy and paste which had more relevance in the thread for the French gallery currently listing that clown alongside Warhol and Haring. I hope the nonsense ends as soon as it began and you wont have to read complaints about him from me as I would like to see his name removed from this forum altogether. Point taken anyway.

PEZ, CHANOIR canvases for sale, by frankiefrench on Feb 3, 2017 16:52:33 GMT 1, I seriously might ask Pez if he even knows this rude, immature clown. One glaring alarm bell rang straight away when he used the name 'El Pez' Then there's always the strange suggestion that artists do not want to show images of their work. Next time he's in London i'll be sure to erect an 8 foot hoarding around every wall so that nobody see it and the 'gallery that you represent' (that strangely has no name) - can keep it all to themselves. How about sheets of black sugar paper over the pieces at the next show??

New Brainwash print available - Marilyn Monroe, by frankiefrench on Feb 3, 2017 16:42:12 GMT 1, Why does MBW even have a thread or any mention on this forum at all? It started out as a prank but people took it seriously, the derivative crap was meant to be a comment on derivative crap and somewhere along the line the boundaries have become totally blurred. His crap has become the very crap that the stunt with Banksy, Fairey and Insect included (they all had a hand in making the early works) was SUPPOSED to be holding a mirror up to and mocking the fickle 'urban art' world. Unfortunately money has corrupted this tool when people that didnt get the joke actually went and bought it. Did nobody even watch the spoof film??? F sake. Now we have people discussing this prat alongside genuine artists that worked hard for decades. Stop making (he's clearly not stupid), opportunist parasites famous. Please.

The Evolution of a Magazine - VNA , by frankiefrench on Feb 3, 2017 14:20:08 GMT 1, Love VNA, been a staunch supporter since issue 10 i think. Funnily enough i bumped into Geoff at Liv St the other day and had a quick chat. I think the lack of launch parties which you could previously set your watch too on a quarterly basis have dropped off somewhat due to the guys being Dad's & Roly moving to Oz..i hear that 35 is a biggie with a launch in London probable. As I (like many of you I'm guessing) miss those meet up's & queue banter for a VNA special drop. Absolutely mate, I remember Chaz from London police was a good night indeed, many beers were sank and no doubt lots of redecoration of the surrounding area went down as usual Good times.

Explain VNA Special value, by frankiefrench on Feb 3, 2017 8:33:13 GMT 1, I think they are excellent value for money as is/was VNA itself. Getting hold of them was a bit hit and miss as they were sometimes on sale at about ยฃ75? then a few made it into competition draws and I was lucky enough to get the Paul Insect cover issue with the pink envelope (African woman collage) for ยฃ40 with stickers and all sorts thrown in. An absolute steal. Framing the mag was not a problem and since then they have very kindly sent me a replacement issue (subscriber cover) with the woman face print on the cover. The dilemma being that I also like that one so much that it could end up getting a frame too.
As for value, it is very early days, in art terms these things have only just come out and we should not expect miracles for a few years just yet. I am sure they will become valuable but not really bothered about that as my clockwork Britain is here to stay. Is there a list of the artists printed cover editions?

Your latest Art Purchase?, by frankiefrench on Jan 27, 2017 18:31:16 GMT 1, Widely perceived to be the world epicentre of trading and finance. What better way to hide a multitude of sins than to just blow them up. Sorry, i'm straying off topic and onto speakers corner here and its very cold in Hyde Park, so like the spy, i'll come in. Strong piece either way in my opinion.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by frankiefrench on Jan 27, 2017 18:05:09 GMT 1, Ed Templeton original painting on wood "Suburban Girl" (39" x 39").
Big thank you to the good people at Roberts & Tilton.
This will sit nicely alongside my purchase by Ed last year.
"Leopard Skin Tights"
My god Ed has come so far with his painting. The top one has echoes of Alex Katz and Hockney, no bad thing. Stunning piece.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by frankiefrench on Jan 27, 2017 18:03:23 GMT 1, Anti Capitalism innit David Cameron... Printed on the Financial Times (Pink Newspaper)... torn to see the city in his head... seems fairly clear. Well, at least for me it was not :-) I neither realized it's Cameron nor that's the City. Thanks for clarification - makes a lot more sense now Me too, I totally didnt think it would be that obvious. What I SAW was a pair of falling twin towers hanging down and exposing the new corporate monster rising like a phoenix from the ashes (of their latest controlled demolition) That's the nature of art though, we complete the whole process by reading into it whatever we feel I guess. When I saw the name I briefly glimpsed and assumed this to be the work of our old anti nuclear campaigner Peter Kennard.

Kaws sets in LA Pop Up, by frankiefrench on Jan 27, 2017 14:43:21 GMT 1, Are the bootlegs on ali express any good? I'm hearing they are spot on from someone thats got a few. No. They're not like the real thing. Don't support them. They're making collecting Kaws work a nightmare, and people are being ripped off with fakes flooding the market. Knowing what to look out for is a concern if buying in the secondary market. I have friends in China but I don't want to leave it to other people to make those kind of judgement calls. There are so many fakes that like you say it is becoming a nightmare and putting people off taking the plunge at all. So my initial question was more on what tell signs would give them away. Only those equipped with real ones or having felt the quality might be able to tell the difference.

Pure Evil, D*Face and Paul Insect, by frankiefrench on Jan 26, 2017 19:53:18 GMT 1, Funny isn't it, after more than 10 years of amazing street / urban art, which has been derided and looked down upon by mainstream galleries and auction houses. Regularly written off as a flash in the pan, and a bubble which is always about to burst. Eventually they can no longer ignore the collector interest it creates, so they decide to herald themselves as ambassadors of the scene, why not actually having any real knowledge of what has taken place and the background to much of the artists and events that most of us here just take for granted. There are quite a few examples of this happening lately I think. If the wealthy establishment were to open their minds to the possibilities of what art can actually be, and had the courage to judge what is good, rather than only following the coin, perhaps they wouldn't always be having to play catch up like this and coming across as so profoundly cynical. Edit: Perhaps it's still better late than never. Sir you are correct and eloquent with it, i'm almost regretting the pile of burgers photo. It is tragic how little actual knowledge these people have and it just makes any attempt to sell appear opportunist and mercenary. Haven't seen anything from Kostabi in a while, I mean I know he gave up painting his own stuff at all after the eighties. As Mayor Koch said "Time will tell"

Invader - Paris locations, by frankiefrench on Jan 26, 2017 18:33:27 GMT 1, Hello,
I have a question for you people in the know.....
I am planning a day trip to Paris in March to check out 'Hello My Game is' and would also love to improve my score on the FlashInvaders.
Now, Is it worth spending cash on the Invader map for Paris, or do you know of anything online that shows their locations? Maybe I am being stupid but I can't find them on Google!
Never been to Paris before so I suppose I better catch a quick glimpse of the Eifel Tower and all that other stuff too..... :-)
Anyway, if this has been discussed many times before, just ignore!!
Charlie. Just make sure you look UP everywhere you go. He favours high locations out of reach of vandals trying to steal them. Some of the more spicey areas are always a good bet although they really are peppered everywhere and in some very slick high profile photo opp spots too. Best of luck.

Jef Aerosol original on card for sale., by frankiefrench on Jan 26, 2017 13:01:01 GMT 1, Having had some interest in the piece I can give some more information to help as much as possible. It's dark and I am no photographer but can take some not very good ones if the interest is there as it's currently hanging on the wall. It was sent directly from him in 2009* to an artist in England as a direct one for one trade piece and Jef will be able to confirm this as it was quite unique and messages originated from his www.flickr.com/photos/jefaerosol - account* It is currently framed in a temporary vintage frame and would benefit from nice framing professionally. Valued by Bonhams in 2012 at circa - 4.5 - 6k Piece is on cardboard and measures approx 19 x 16.5 inches. The edges are NOT exactly straight which makes a totally accurate measurement impossible, it looks amazing and should be float framed to accentuate the rough edges. The bottom line price is 4k and if no interest is shown on here then it will go into the next Bonhams urban art saleโฆ. but I will lose some in shipping, framing and fees so i'm happy to let it go at the lower end of the estimate. Serious & genuine offers happily considered. Pictures to follow. I would love to see a picture of it, purely because I am very fond of Jef and his work. Yes Coach, cheers. I'm going to brave the cold and open the curtains in here its bloody freezing outside but needs must. Ignore the frame. I've checked the date - it is 2009 - not 2008* on the piece.
