Good grief. In some respects this would make an ideal wedding present for some friends of ours, but I'm not sure my wife would ever forgive me.

TateWard โข Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by k2 on Jul 3, 2019 10:54:36 GMT 1, On one of the bidding platforms it said this... VAT on all UK auctions is payable on the premium charged. So you will pay hammer price, plus 25% sales premium and VAT on that premium which is a further 5%. ย If you are bidding from outside the EU and the work is exported there then the VAT is waived. ย The website you are looking at also adds their own fee of 3% to use the platform hence the higher figure (this is why it's always better to bid direct with the house you'll save money)ย
I think he is rightly questioning the โVAT/tax on hammer: 20%โ which Iโm assuming is incorrect, but would certainly have made me think twice.

Pejac - Yin-Yang, by k2 on Jul 3, 2019 9:59:40 GMT 1, Nice offer. I'd say it would have to be someone that knows you very well.ย In an ideal world people would be jumping all over this, but as you say trust issues might get in the way.ย "Trust issues might get in the way"? ย Might??? ย No offence to anybody on here but there is no way I would ever give out my cc + cvv to anybody at all, regardless of how well I knew them. ย That is the most dangerous suggestion I have ever heard in my life!
And if someone were brave/bold/foolish/whatever enough to do this, please make sure that you do not send your credit card details by pm on this site. This site is not secure and any details that you send can be intercepted en route.

Pejac - Yin-Yang, by k2 on Jul 2, 2019 17:27:43 GMT 1, Never even changed to add cart - just straight to sold out. Don't believe that one was legit to be honest. With Woocommerce, you can kind of hack it to add items to the basket that are flagged as Coming Soon. Thanks for the PMs and for making me feeling so popular, but just to confirm:
1. I didn't buy it, nothing is for sale. Really. 2. There's no bot that I can send to you - it's just a case of understanding how a Woocommerce website works and hitting it with a hammer a bit so it works slightly differently.

I was able to add the product to my basket at about 4:40 and could get all the way through to the final step of the payment flow, but didn't buy it because a) I don't want it, and b) I can't afford it.
But it's not rocket science and I suspect others were able to checkout prior to the official launch time.

Jonni Cheatwood upcoming print, by k2 on Jul 1, 2019 23:30:31 GMT 1, How were you able to purchase 2 prints. Did you write to Jonni under 2 names? Just for the public to know because we have gotten emails from collectors because this post. We are not selling preorders. Jonni kindly asked a couple of his collectors ability to purchase the print early. A handful of people got that opportunity. Posting this in public when the artist extended a courtesy seems rather odd. Read more: urbanartassociation.com/thread/158156/jonni-cheatwood-upcoming-print?page=2#ixzz5sRnYRPPlur mistaken Hall, assuming ur the asst director of mirus, the man iโve spoken 2 prior, i use this same name on my emails, instagram, n many other forums as 2 make sure my identity is never n question, as like many others who choose 2, i never hide behind a keyboard, lol! i contacted jonni personally n i was 1 of the handful he extended the courtesy 2 for a preorder, yes.... which Hall (you?) from mirus sent me n invoice 4 n was paid n full minutes after i saw it.... i ordered 1 print.... paid for 1 print.... am 2 receive 1 print from the main edition, 2 join my daughters wall of art we both enjoy, not 2 flip on the aftermarket 4 profit like many of the others will.... i posted the completed sale as it was relevant 2 the topic n i was proud n honored 2 b one of the first chosen 2 pre-order such a talented young mans 1st print release.... i c nothing odd n that at all.... please email me directly if u have further concerns or u feel iโve done something inappropriate โ๐ป&โค๏ธ I think the confusion was simply because you write '2' instead of 'to'.
For the record, the abbreviations do make your posts quite difficult to read.

Pejac - Yin-Yang, by k2 on Jun 26, 2019 23:40:12 GMT 1, This looks great but not only will this not fit in a normal flat file, it will cost north of ยฃ1k to get framed properly - even then, a print of this size float framed will be rippled all over after a few months. If youโre willing to spend close to ยฃ3k with shipping and tax included you may aswell try to source the new Harland print. I was in total agreement with you until your last sentence which seems a bit of a strange thing to say.

Pejac - Yin-Yang, by k2 on Jun 26, 2019 17:36:33 GMT 1, I can't imagine wanting to dedicate so much space to what is a fairly depressing message. Much like A Forest, I think it's a fabulous drawing but I wouldn't want to look at it every day at this scale. Perhaps a different matter at the same size of the original drawings.
Cynically, these seem unnecessarily large in order to justify the cost.

My recent works and experiments , by k2 on Jun 20, 2019 23:58:53 GMT 1, Just adding a message to this thread to congratulate Chris on his graduation from Camberwell and for a very successful degree show.
I've got to know him quite well since this original message and he's a thoroughly decent chap - wishing him all the best in the 'real world'.

Aryz ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข Painting โข Print Release , by k2 on Jun 20, 2019 23:43:35 GMT 1, Thank you for sharing. I like that. But I was disappointed, when following the link, by the price. It seems like that is all too common these days unfortunately isn't it.
I like it too, but it's certainly not cheap. And as it's fairly huge I suppose it would be pricey to frame. Not something that I have room for unfortunately.
I'm not sure if this link will work, or how else to share it, but there are currently some interesting videos of the process on his Instagram. I believe these videos will disappear in a few hours, but for now it's an interesting glimpse - www.instagram.com/stories/mr_aryz/?hl=en
I don't really have any insight on how prices are set, so I'm not sure if the printworks who worked on it, or the process used to create it, have any bearing on the cost.

Aryz ๐บ๐ธ Street Art โข Painting โข Print Release , by k2 on Jun 20, 2019 23:21:27 GMT 1, 110,5 x 74,5cm / edition of 100 ............... โAs he announced via social media earlier this month, Aryz is currently carrying out an artistic residency in France. He is involved in several projects, which will be revealed throughout the year, but one in particular stands out, marking the beginning of this period: the launch of his first lithography.
For this project, Aryz dared to take on this work on stone at the Idem Paris printworks, an emblematic art press located in the Montparnasse district of Paris, built in 1881 by the printer Emile Dufrรฉ. In 1976 it passed into the hands of Fernand Mourlot and took the name Mourlot Printing, which has welcomed artists such as Matisse, Picasso, Braque, Giacometti and Calder, among other masters of 20th century painting. In 1997 it changed its name to Idem, and today it is an emblematic space that invites creation, a meeting point for the major artists of the French and international scene.
Both the work and the technique of lithography itself have special value, and are not the only things of note. The reason why Aryz has decided to use this process is because it is a challenge he always wanted to face. It is a technique that merits a lot of respect since it was used in the second half of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century for poster printing, a source of inspiration for Aryz.
According to the artist, there are many processes that are labeled lithography today but should not be considered as such because often the technique involves a photographic process, rather than printing using stone. The vast majority of so-called lithographs are really offset prints. He considers that the essence and the value of the process is precisely the drawing on stone, and that although it is a technique for which very high prices are normally paid, it was very important that the price be reasonable as it is his first work using this printing method."

Theyโre the sellerโs private links within their photobox account, so wonโt work for anyone else.
But if you have a look at their (numerous) previous posts for the same items youโll be able to see them.
Very nice they are too!

Home made frames / framing , by k2 on Jun 14, 2019 14:19:01 GMT 1, High st glaziers usually have 2mm float in stock, is about 2x as expensive as Wessex charges but they obvs. charge for delivery. Why bother with routing, just buy moulding from a framing supplier? Wessex or Rose and Hollis or Lion Definitely - it's also cheaper to buy moulding than it is to make it yourself, unless you're using very cheap timber.
But if is very satisfying to make the whole frame from scratch - particularly if it gives you a reason to justify the relatively expensive tools that you might have bought on a whim.

Home made frames / framing , by k2 on Jun 14, 2019 11:59:59 GMT 1, Youโve done an awesome job! This is the kind of thing that really interests me but i lack any of those DIY skills men are supposed to have... Also, when you make your own frame, where do you buy the glass from? In the UK, I have bought Museum glass cut-to-size and shipped from Wessex Pictures. I also bought a full size sheet of Optium Acrylic from Brampton Framing once - it was relatively inexpensive compared to the markup (justifiably) added by framers, but it was absolutely huge and slightly scary to handle until it had been cut down.
In the US, I have seen Tru-Vue glass for sale at Michaels. At Michaels it seems to be branded slightly differently, with the range called 'Masterpiece', but the range seemed very similar to the typical range of Tru-Vue products. I'm not sure if they're just renamed products, or if there are subtle differences.
If you are interested in making your own frames, I would recommend making some simple tray frames for canvases first. It's much easier as you don't need to worry so much about glazing, or routing rabbets for the glass to sit behind etc.

Damien Hirst H6 โข The Aspects, by k2 on Jun 13, 2019 10:42:29 GMT 1, Am I the only one that was able to cart "H6 Mercy" and pay on the 10 th when first they come out online on the foundation Beyeler shop? my card was charged , and I got order confirmation. i sent them email asking for confirmation but no reply yet.... any feed back on Beyeler foundation ? did anyone bought something recently?
You could cart and pay for 500 of them if you wanted. A flaw in their e-commerce system.
If youโre lucky they might honour it though - particularly if itโs less hassle than processing a refund etc.

Kaws FRAMED, by k2 on Jun 4, 2019 1:45:12 GMT 1, Just got my MOCAD print back from the framer...ย
Nice to see one being framed!
However, respectfully I would say that this doesnโt work particularly well for me. Thereโs so much going on that my eye is constantly drawn away from the print itself. Introducing an additional colour with the mount also seems unnecessary and a bit jarring.
Of course my opinion means nothing, and the most important thing is that you enjoy it, and if your choice of framing makes you enjoy it even more then fair play to you.

Donald Trump, by k2 on Jun 2, 2019 20:31:25 GMT 1, According to your own logic, you could get a job in the trades and be earning six figures within 5 years. You made it sound quite easy and achievable to anyone. If youโre working a combined 140 hours a week between you and struggling to make ends meet, does that not suggest that perhaps itโs not quite as easy as you made it sound? While I've thought about it, my chrons disease issues over the last few years have hammpered that chance. Also, I'm happy where I am in regards to work. Lots of family in the trades, it's not something I'd enjoy. I'll take happiness over money No one said struggling, I just said I can't afford an additional 2-3k a month to afford a child with daycare Etc.. I've also gotten to the point in my life where I'm old enough to be happy without.my hours at work are my choice. Thanks for calling me lazy without asking details, but bailing out those that don't even wanna work lol. Hilarity at it's finest
I didnโt call you lazy, and I certainly donโt think that.
According to your own logic, you could get a job in the trades and be earning six figures within 5 years. Donald Trump, by k2 on Jun 2, 2019 18:58:57 GMT 1, Are we coming back round to the poor people shouldn't have children argument? Oh joy. When the upper middle class starts building 2 bedroom houses more often than not, and choosing no children because of affordability it's a viable discussion. Even at lower middle class income in my house, we know we can't afford $4-500 a week for daycare alone plus expenses. So we painfully have to choose to not have children.... Should someone else have the choice simply because they're unable to work ? Honest question.... And even then. Should there be a limit imposed? Seriously, have you ever worked with, hired, handled personal cases, or worked in an environment where you counsel and work with these families? It's difficult to see someone on full assistance having 3,4,5 children, then go home and tell my wife we can't because we are doing our best and working 60-80 hours a week each just to have what options we do have in life...

Brexit, by k2 on May 30, 2019 9:54:26 GMT 1, Rory Stewart (is he the lovechild of tony blair and prince charles?) now calling the other runners 'snake oil salesmen" for claiming we wont pay the 39billion if we go no deal. Good start.
Did you see that video he made in Kew Gardens, pretending to hold a camera?
If you ignore his voting record (which you canโt of course) he seems like a nice enough chap, but certainly feels like heโd be eaten alive by the more predatory members of his party.

Brexit, by k2 on May 27, 2019 0:14:40 GMT 1, Brexit party smashing it ! Labour taking a kicking Most voters, I suspect, are seeing this as a 1 issue election. Thus far a dead heat between the Brexit party and the two parties that have stood on a remain footing - 32% each. (Much greater remain mandate in Scotland). I thought Emily Thornberry was refreshingly candid on the BBC coverage earlier on, pretty much summing up how I've felt as a Labour voter lately. I'd very much like to see more transparent Labour policy coming through in response to this result.

Counter Editions Joyce Pensato, by k2 on May 26, 2019 1:26:30 GMT 1, Brace yourselves... Some Joyce Pensatos lurking on the back walls. Could be from CE's private collection used to spruce up the office....or could be proofs for an upcoming edition and we will be in for another bun fight??!!* *Subject to pricing I had a meeting in a swanky office a week or so ago, and in the reception area they had a huge Pensato piece based on Homer Simpson. That may sound terrible, but it was absolutely stunning - gave me the tingles and everything.
Strangely it was the only piece of art I saw in the whole place - normally when you see something of note in a place of business, the walls are littered with artwork, but this seemed to be the only thing on display.

IMPORTANT - Banksy news from Pest Control , by k2 on May 24, 2019 14:11:53 GMT 1, News from Pest Control -ย Pest Control Office are making sellers & collectors aware that the following work has been reported as stolen Banksy : Screen print : Welcome To Hell : Signed : 58/75 : Certificate of Authentication Please contact authenticate@pestcontroloffice.com if you have recently been offered or bought this work. Please do not buy or consign Banksy works to Kevin Zuchowski-Morrison at Rise Gallery. We have seen repeated incidents where the print or money does not materialise. There are many excellent secondary market Banksy galleries and traders operating. There are also very dishonest ones. As a response to this weโve brought the handling of secondary market sales in-house to guarantee a legitimate transaction for the buyer and seller, and minimise the fraud we have to deal with. Contact us on authenticate@pestcontroloffice.com if you want a gallery recommendation or for us to handle the process ourselves. Pest Control Office Authentications authenticate@pestcontroloffice.com
Looking forward to murrkeโs take on all this!
