Artorious007, by bbperez1 on Mar 9, 2020 4:30:04 GMT 1, it's not all genuine, some of it at first glance can look like that but he's known to push the sh*t he collects to then resell it at a profit, Kaws is very smart with money hence why he's having that success, he knows how to play the market and he does it time after time. Also, at the end of the day, if an artist's career is suddenly hyped because of one dude pushing, it's not sustainable and we're back on the pump & dump circle of things leaving that artist with nothing pretty quickly. artorious is also pointing the finger to IG collectors and other tools that solely focus on those artists trying to hope on the pump&dump bandwagon. Dont want to name anybody but you see them everywhere around here, the FB group and IG There’s a lot of members on here who are the epitome of what this IG account is describing 🚨 New Art Alert L 🚨

Getting my Banksquiat framed. Some urgent questions..., by bbperez1 on Mar 9, 2020 4:20:35 GMT 1, Use the power of the forum. Ask for a good NY framer in here, if there is one place there has to be a good one, it’s NY. From your story it all sounds good, except the thing about the tape. If your framer doesn’t know about non-adhesive / fully reversible hinges (that be the ‘tape’) I’m a bit worried.
That’s exactly my first impression, too.

Thanks guys! Aside from Bogin being a class act of a person; his work is incredible. I was fortunate enough to be included throughout the process so I got to really see what goes into making one of these monsters. It’s 40in in diameter. I chose the colors with Greg. They’re a combination of my favorite color and my daughters favorite color.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by bbperez1 on Mar 8, 2020 16:36:33 GMT 1, Wanted this as soon as they started showing them.. forget the haters, this is sooooo clean and nice in a world where most every print is incredibly bright and so colorful.. this stands out in a great way in my opinion. And the packaging, box, book, etc are even nicer than I expected
Yea. That book print is sweet af! I bought one too when was the last time kaws did a full on companion like this for a print.. I’ll wait.
Awesome pickup RTC! I’m sure we talked about this previously but the print and the book/presentation box was incredible

Your latest Art Purchase?, by bbperez1 on Feb 23, 2020 3:37:39 GMT 1, Here are a few recent purchases of mine. Bogin: love it. I’ve posted it previously but can’t get over its size compared to the woman wrapping it. Tyrrell Winston: this guy is interesting. Love the mediums he uses. I think if his career is guided correctly. The marketability is through the roof. Tomoo Gokita: Ed. 40 print. Recent release with Pace. Joakim Ojanen Bronze sculpture. It’s an edition of 6. Purchased from the good people over at Richard Heller gallery awesome pickups. The Winston piece - what’s the medium? Is it actually deflated basketballs or some other material sculpted and painted?
Real deflated basketballs. Then he fills them with silicon or liquid epoxy to conserve their deflated shape.

Javier Calleja 🇪🇸 Málaga, Spain • Drawings • Sculture, by bbperez1 on Feb 10, 2020 2:55:54 GMT 1, Honestly half of the prints are probably being sold to members on this forum. We are part of the problem. But it’s your money so do whatever but we all are f*cking up the entire market by continuing to buy these overpriced prints. I get if you are selling originals at auction house for millions then I can kind of see why their prints would be expensive but if you only can only sell one original for less than 300k (Harland miller) or Javier at 50k then your prints should not be more expensive than any blue chip artist which sells in the millions. Harland Miller, Avant Art and maybe even now Tomoo Gokita are going to kill the print market. Loie Hollowel print at RX is just sitting at 10k, the original price made more sense but the later tier price is way too high, and Harland Miller penguin with Counter is going nowhere. To me these new price for prints last year and this year have totally killed this hobby. You can pick up some great originals from newer artists whom have just a much potential as Javier or even Harland Miller.
This isn’t a hobby.

Javier Calleja 🇪🇸 Málaga, Spain • Drawings • Sculture, by bbperez1 on Feb 9, 2020 17:44:37 GMT 1, Prices of prints are now at a ridiculous high. Tomoo Gokita new print release starts at 12k... this hobby is now for the extremely rich. $12k?!? Jesus. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even inquire about prints from most of the artists I really like because nearly none of them are priced less than originals from up and coming / undiscovered artists and I get so much more enjoyment out of original pieces where the artist’s technique really shines. Alternatively, I find that I’m getting less and less enjoyment from the prints on my wall. But this is just me and if you’re looking at it as an investment than you’re probably better off fighting for a chance to drop $3500 on a Calleja print.
That Tomoo is sweet af. 😈

Your latest Art Purchase?, by bbperez1 on Feb 2, 2020 19:31:14 GMT 1, I just picked up this Erik H. Foss original on paper. I bought a Tyrell Winston original too. Nice pickup. I’ve been chatting with Eric on Instagram he’s a super chill and humble guy. Truth be told I’m having a little heart burn shelling out for a work on paper, haven’t ruled it out because I really like his work, but just haven’t gotten there yet. It’s not necessarily cheap. That said, he’s the kind of artist I like supporting and it’s been nice getting a chance to shoot thes**t with him.
He and I grew up fairly close to each other. But he’s older. We skated the same places growing up. He’s awesome. His work isn’t cheap. But he’s an artist I am going to support. I want to get one of his 3D pieces on canvas.
MSG me on IG and I will show you which pieces I’m talking about.

Robert Nava - framed drawing for sale, by bbperez1 on Jan 17, 2020 22:05:40 GMT 1, I’m confused (granted not all that atypical) but what’s going on here? Btw I’ve seen a lot of awesome Nava drawings floating around the interweb lately. How hard are these to get your hands on and what’s a fair price?
