Recommended Art Books, by Coach on Mar 15, 2021 21:26:52 GMT 1, Its really nice to be on a thread where so many people share so many great recommendations/links - nice one. And no bitching too! I’ve found this thread great too. On more than one occasion I’ve made a purchase that I would have otherwise missed.
It’s a delightful haven

Your Most Under Appreciated Piece, by Coach on Mar 10, 2021 0:07:36 GMT 1, His street work is fantastic. I’d hazard a guess that was painted around the time of his Signal Gallery show, which was excellent. Case is 1/4 of the MACLAIM Crew along with Tasso, Rusk and Akut (who with Hera is Herakut). All 4 of them are superb. Indeed it was sir. I have scant recollection of the show itself, but two pictures further on my photostream I was in Signal Gallery 🤣 www.flickr.com/photos/piersmason/4403973479/in/photostreamTasso did a livepaint at Cargo at some point, and this work blew me away www.flickr.com/photos/piersmason/747420375One of my highest viewed pics too, which is nice!
Great pics. Thank you. I love the Case Maclaim tag a few pictures along. I used to own another Case, which was mostly of skin, save for a male nipple and a fly. Loved that painting.

Your Most Under Appreciated Piece, by Coach on Mar 9, 2021 23:47:23 GMT 1, I have three huge paintings by Case, one of my favourite artists. For reasons that escape me many people don’t seem to like them. I can’t fathom their antipathy. I think they are exquisite. I dont know much about Case, but this street piece I came across somewhere back in the day has always stuck in my mind. flic.kr/p/7Heue7

Kaws what party (signed edition) book, by Coach on Mar 7, 2021 23:29:09 GMT 1, I think these are really nice, looks like a great book quality wise for $49 signed with no dedication. Even though I have a few things dedicated, it's nice to see a limited run of 500 for a book edition with his signature. I'm not sure he's done this outside of the old small black book, which is super old with the running chum. Could be wrong. When he did his first museum show at The Aldrich, in Connecticut 2010, the Rizzoli book was issued for the show and he signed a number of those - you paid, they shipped. Pretty much the same process as this book. I still have mine. And because I signed up for the book I got the first notice of availability for the first Spongebob print, which I bought for $800. Still have that also.
Voila!

Ephemera hoarder , by Coach on Mar 5, 2021 19:15:55 GMT 1, Thought would be interesting to see if I’m the only one with this strange incurable condition, it’s main symptom being the continuous collecting of art related tatt to the constant annoyance of the other half! Anyone else keeps hold of show flyers, postcards, zines, stickers etc? How do you store them? I’m currently decluttering and trying to organise these better. I generally store in these boxes (and have a few more tucked away) Also would be cool to see photos of anyone else’s collection
You’re not even close to a worrying level yet! Don’t worry!

Kaws what party (signed edition) book, by Coach on Mar 5, 2021 19:11:02 GMT 1, Your right that errors can happen. But it wasn`t my fault and absolutely foreseeable that more people want to buy the book. Out of stock is in my opinion different than canceling an order a week later. At least they could offer a voucher like 5 % for the next order.
Twice now you have said it’s not your fault. No one has said it was (including Phaidon). Reminding you of their T&C’s is not saying it was your fault.
Are we not all yet used to the disappointment of not being able to buy something that is a limited edition? Things being oversold is something that happens. It’s the nature of our collecting. Something else will be on the horizon that we want just as much if not more. Whilst disappointing, it’s not worth all this discombobulation imo.

Kaws what party (signed edition) book, by Coach on Mar 5, 2021 18:44:36 GMT 1, I understand all the disappointment expressed here. That said, I’ve spent a small fortune at Phaidon over the years. Their books are invariably superb and I’ve never had any problem with them. It seems to me that an inventory mistake was made. Who knows whether that was at Phaidon or further up the supply chain. To err is human. These things happen. And as for their T&C’s suggesting you shouldn’t buy from them, I doubt that any other large online book retailer says anything different.

Art insurance with criminal record?, by Coach on Mar 5, 2021 0:27:44 GMT 1, wtf does “spent” mean? ur not considered a felon anymore after a certain period of time i’m assuming? or is that the UK word 4 parole/probation.... u fkrs talk funny lol😉
In the U.K. many convictions are considered spent after a certain period of time. This means that, for example, you do not have to tell a prospective employer about it. The time is not short. It doesn’t apply to some offences. Safeguarding issues are catered for. The idea is one of rehabilitation, rather than retribution. I suspect that most modern criminologists consider rehabilitation to be a better criminal justice system than retribution. It’s quite separate from parole or release on license. It’s a forward thinking system. Not forward thinking enough imo.

Bob Ross x Banksy, by Coach on Mar 4, 2021 23:56:25 GMT 1, In a 2010 interview, Del Naja said "Painting is difficult for me because I'm colour blind. Back in the day, I had to label my spray cans with what colour they were because I couldn't tell. It's like the emperor's new clothes: [people] telling me it's great, and me pretending that's what I intended." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Del_Naja 382 weeks ago... no names on top, but @ least we know they use paint from Home depot. probably Krylon or rustoleum.

New Banksy? Reading Prison , by Coach on Mar 4, 2021 23:48:27 GMT 1, Won't be long before this is tagged. Home Reading Council have got a guard on watch 24/7. Even at 7ft high some p*ick will soil it.
It would be a shame if it gets buffed. A great shame. But I would rather that than it gets covered in Perspex Or even worse, cut out if the wall for a rich person to own. Street art and graffiti is by its very nature both for everyone to enjoy and ephemeral. It doesn’t and shouldn’t last for ever.

New Banksy? Reading Prison , by Coach on Mar 4, 2021 22:50:28 GMT 1, There was an art event a couple of years ago which allowed people to wander around certain parts of the gaol to view art placed in some of the cells. Oscar Wilde's cell was accessible. I've got a few photos taken within the prison, one of which is of a sign outside the cells referencing graffiti found in a cell. It states 'occupants to be placed on report if graffiting has occurred during occupation'.
Heartbreaking to think of a man of such fine taste, creativity and capacity for love being put in such a cell for nothing more than loving another person.
