JetSet Graffiti, by spirit on Feb 17, 2010 18:31:26 GMT 1, Good Efforts like this one are tarnished by this persons words, and that is unfortunate.
No. Good efforts like this one are tarnished by your own previous very poor behaviour and that is unfortunate - but you have no-one to blame but yourself. I can't believe you would try to put blame on someone who is only trying to get back the money you owe them. It's disgraceful.
You seem to love patting yourself on the back for the good you do while completely ignoring legitimate and serious customer complaints. Why anyone is still willing to do business with you knowing your history is completely beyond me.
Personally I think Silky is right to keep your account open until these complaints have been satisfactorily dealt with. Then you should be banned for good - just like you are on every other street art forum.

NEW ARTWORK FOR SALE...., by spirit on Feb 17, 2010 12:51:35 GMT 1, What's all the snidey comments about?
Well if you're going to advertise an artists work for sale it's usual practice to say who the artist is at least...

Mr Brainwash: THE artist of the 2010's?, by spirit on Feb 16, 2010 18:22:19 GMT 1, Are you not contradicting yourself a little here? In your first sentence you seem to accept that Turner has made a huge impact (albeit relatively recently) but in your third sentence you say he hasn't had much impact. Also, I am not sure that the fact that these painters did not make a huge impact in their own lifetime makes their impact on art history any less important. After all, they keep some pretty good company in that respect - Van Gogh, Gaugin, Soutine etc. Yeah you're right I am. But apart from Constable, Turner, Moore, Hepworth and the YBA's what have British artists ever done for us?!
;D ROMANES EUNT DOMUS
well since you asked...
Thomas Gainsborough William Hogarth Joshua Reynolds William Blake Alfred Munnings George Stubbs David Hockney Francis Bacon Peter Blake Paula Rego Cornelia Parker

Mr Brainwash: THE artist of the 2010's?, by spirit on Feb 16, 2010 17:30:15 GMT 1, Turner was a successful landscape painter in his lifetime but never made a huge impact until relatively recently. Constable enjoyed no success whatsoever during his lifetime and again his value and contribution has been post-rationalised. They were both 'romantic' painters, which became very fashionable in the 60s and 70s and is why their significance became so huge. I don't think either of them actually had much impact on art history - they're anomalies really. EDIT: but I'll concede that Turner was waaaay ahead of his time and very misunderstood, so largely ignored for a long time after his death

Mr Brainwash: THE artist of the 2010's?, by spirit on Feb 16, 2010 15:25:05 GMT 1, In terms of global significance British art only came into its own with the YBA's in the 90's. Anything before that was parochial at best or jumping on the band wagon of significant art movements in Europe and the States at worst. It's only with hind sight that much of its significance has been established but still, I would argue, without making a big global splash. The only area where the British excelled prior to the YBA's was in sculpture during the first half of the 20th Century, particularly with the early work of Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. exactly
What about Turner etc?

WTB Matt Small signed book+ print, by spirit on Feb 13, 2010 1:00:46 GMT 1, They weren't prints - each one was a numbered original. Never worked out a way of displaying mine.
Bite the bullet and cut it out. I did and have no regrets - sent it off to MRFM as soon as I got it and been enjoying it on the wall ever since. Much better than being tucked away in a drawer.

Mear One 🇺🇸 Street Art • New Print Release , by spirit on Feb 12, 2010 17:45:33 GMT 1, come on.. this is a very weak image of Jimi, nothing about his energy at all.. there are more creative ways to express his music, halucinations, love, submission than using some fluorescent colors.. some of the faces look more like snoop dogg than Jimi Hendrix.. sorry but this release does absolutely no justice to Jimi or the price asked..
Have to agree. The fact that you can't help but compare it to Choe's Jimmy (which is great imo) really doesn't help either.

However, I still feel that the things that make this good...
have been totally lost in this print.

Steve Powers 🇺🇸 ESPO • New York Street Art • New Release, by spirit on Feb 12, 2010 12:18:22 GMT 1, Much better than his last POW print. Bit of a let down that one, which I think has slightly ruined the interest now. Shame. Big edition size too!
I read that as "slightly ruined the internet" initially, which I thought was a brilliantly harsh putdown for an online release.

For Sale. Banksy SAS, by spirit on Feb 10, 2010 21:13:50 GMT 1, I just sold mine for £1850 to a forum member at the weekend. I don't think you'll have any trouble selling at that price based on the amount of offers I got.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by spirit on Feb 10, 2010 0:42:09 GMT 1, Great collection you got there omen!
And now for something completely different - for me at least...
Came across an Artist called Vahge yesterday thanks to a heads up by Dr B on WK.
Not remotely street art or anywhere near my usual artistic taste zone but was immediately captivated and intrigued by these small but incredibly detailed and surreal collages.
www.andrewmichaelford.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=8068175
Spent most of today thinking about them to make sure it wasn't just the booze talking last night and have just purchased a couple that I think work very well together. Have nothing else like this in my collection so I thought I'd get 2 so they could keep each other company.
They are 6x8" original collages on canvas panel covered with a thick glaze. Managed to negotiate a good deal for the pair so set me back just over £100 each delivered.
Not to everyone's taste I'm sure, very marmite, but I honestly can't remember when I last saw an original artwork in the £100 price bracket that displayed such remarkable raw talent imo.

OT: What colour iPod nano to get my mrs?, by spirit on Feb 9, 2010 16:20:33 GMT 1, I guess as she's your missus you should know what she likes and which colour suits her best!
You'd think so after 12 years wouldn't you. However, experience tells me that whichever one I get, she'd want the other one...
...so I went with black.

What is the price on Nola today for grey and white, by spirit on Feb 9, 2010 0:43:35 GMT 1, lovely nola lovely nola - grey is my fave over white but i actually prefer very little helps over nola
I'm with you there. Nola has certainly grown on me a bit but VLH is one of my favourites and the best recent print by quite a way imo.
Still over the moon that I got one yesterday!

Is anything original anymore???, by spirit on Feb 9, 2010 0:07:58 GMT 1, There's a guy who shows up at all the openings at White Cube in Hoxton Square. He screams and shouts and then pulls down his pants, sticks his hand up his arse and pulls it out covered in s**t. It's some kind of protest art apparently. That's pretty original.
Mad people have been throwing their own s**t around forever.
Calling it art may well be original though...should we refer to this new school as the bowel movement?
