D*Face Pop Tart Print, by daveart on Jan 21, 2011 15:30:58 GMT 1, the blue is defintely dark compared to the yellow.. crappy iPhone pic isn't helping.. but without the red lips, blue eye, pale skin tone, etc.. the blue is basically a darker image.
yah.. framed at different times so they dont match in size perfectly.. so i just moved the blue one down two inches so you cant tell they dont match. silly framers.

D*Face Pop Tart Print, by daveart on Jan 21, 2011 15:06:40 GMT 1, Not sure about the images on perspex.. could like to see pictures. Regardless of the value discussion going here.. the prints are definitely attention getters. not that my wife would let these in the house.. but do well in the office.. by the time you ship and frame.. dont quibble over a hundred pounds up or down. just do it and enjoy.

Angel Ortiz LA2 LA II • Artist Discussion , by daveart on Jan 20, 2011 4:20:59 GMT 1, In case anyone needs to tie their Banksy CYW print to Keith Haring and then from Keith Haring to LA 2. I re watched the movie The Universe of Keith Haring to be able to tell you all that at about minute 18 in the movie - during an interview with artist Fab 5 Freddie - he references LA 2 and the impact he had on KH .. and then the movie shows some pictures of collaboration work LA 2 did with Keith Haring for their joint show at the Shafrazi gallery. it goes by kind of quickly.. but it's there and you can clearly see the repeating patterns and the LA ROCK tag in a few pieces. Maybe next year Banksy can collaborate with LA 2? just a thought...

In Search of & price check: Murakami DOBs + 727-272, by daveart on Jan 14, 2011 23:28:11 GMT 1, Like these Murakami's .. as others have posted in other threads .. I think Murakami and team are flooding the market with too many variations. wold stick with the older ones.
The 727 images luckily are pretty unique.
and variation of DOB - Homage to Francis Bacon
And a few normal DOB's
All look good in office setting... sorry for the crappy iphone pics.. but you get the idea..

Anyone Familiar with this ebay Seller, by daveart on Jan 11, 2011 20:45:43 GMT 1, Bumping this back to the top as this seller has disappeared again ...

It feels like all he did was string me out past the point in time you can file a complaint on Ebay. <are you all aware you only get 45 days?> shipping delay, oh i didnt realize you wanted me to ship delay, forgot to take it to the post delay, etc, been sick delay, etc. Being in the states, I am not going to fight with this guy... better things to do with my time. Fair warning to everyone else. This guy ships slightly damaged prints as perfect and doesnt ship COA's as promised.
I'll HAPPILY pull all this down if/when he ever follows through.

The death of Banksy, by daveart on Jan 6, 2011 19:06:02 GMT 1, Whether for this reasons stated about Banksy being a 'group' or just coincidence .. i personally am not so interested any any Banksy print since 2007 and find myself scheming how to buy the 2003/04/05 prints way ahead of the 08/09/10 prints. the seem more real and more likely to have been directly influenced by the man himself before the fame, workers/scene set in..
A little off topic.. I read a similar article a long while back regarding performance artists and they pointed to Blue Man Group as being a performance group that can have multiple shows and live on forever as the blue man group because most audience members have no idea or care who is behind the blue paint.
on another note. Murakami openly uses a 'team' approach... who's to say they will not crank out new Murakami brand images long after he hangs it up and sits on the beach. maybe he already has. who knows.

Visit MIAMI 🇺🇲 Street Art, Galleries, Events, by daveart on Jan 5, 2011 15:46:24 GMT 1, I go to Miami /Miami Beach area quite a bit for work .. Not sure your age/what you are into .. but .. you can 'party' anywhere. So, since you mention your missus ... here is the perfect evening on miami beach to enjoy architecture, beautiful spaces, avoid the party crowd, and impress your girl.
-For an amazing place to have a drink and enjoy an asian/modern architectural/art - Setai Miami Beach is worth an hour of your time to sit in the courtyard and walk around the grounds. www.setai.com/
-From there, go art deco and walk down to the Delano Hotel and walk through the lobby and have another drink. www.delano-hotel.com
-Walk from there to lincoln road. Walking mall of restaurants and shops. Have dinner sitting outside at a sushi restaurant or for traditional cuban try 'Yuca' get a seat by the window.
-Bonus place.. depending on your age <ha ha > go from there to your hotel and sleep. or, if you are just getting warmed up.. Check out what is going on at Live at Fontainebleau - doesnt get going until 11PM usually .. but they have some amazing parties there. Live is an experience you cant imagine until you get there. you need to cab from lincoln road.. dont make your girl walk there.
For all of these spots.. dress for success.. and bring lots of cash
If you are 21 and just looking to party.. completely disregard all this advice.

I was told the paperwork would be shipped separately. etc .etc. etc. but now he doesnt respond to me at all. but suddenly has these other prints listed.. so i want to give him them a chance to make this all correct. or see if someone knows the person to help encourage him to contact me..

Who is Keith Haring?, by daveart on Dec 14, 2010 15:42:07 GMT 1, Since we have brought up LAII -- here are two of my pieces that show in the same room a Keith Haring from the Growing series and two original LAII on canvas. AS wearology mentions.. did LAII influence KH or did KH influence LAII.
Haring - From the Growing Series.
LAII
Not hard to see the similarities. these were created about 22 years apart...

Who is Keith Haring?, by daveart on Dec 13, 2010 21:24:24 GMT 1, -Everyone must watch the movie: The Universe of Keith Haring.
- As i posted on the other thread.. Put me down as not happy Banksy put KH's dog on a leash. maybe the same way others would react if Shep did print with a Banksy Rat on a leash. that said .. if i had won the lottery i would have bought the print.
- I think Banksy has taken the anonymity thing a step too far. as mentioned above KH was out in public all the time doing work for others and various community groups. maybe it was just simpler times and people weren't raving mad to get his work and queing for hours in the cold. but in hind sight.. they would have been smart to snap us as many as possible in 1980's as the chalk drawings are very valuable now. not to mention his signed prints .. and the originals are priced way beyond the valuation any current urban artist can even dream. <yet>
In my opinion .. KH far surpasses Banksy in breadth of work and delivery, scale, etc.. Hopefully Banksy soldiers on .. in public at some point .. and continues creating a large body of work that has impact for 30+ years as KH did.
Banksy is the hottest thing going right now for sure.. but skip your next $5,000-$10,000 Banksy purchase and buy a KH piece. your collection will benefit by the diversity.
you also have to remember how forward thinking KH was in 1980's .. Not a simple time to be a street artist, or gay, ... think reagan and the powerful conservative movement...
last thought. KH was free drawing with paint. no disrespect to the stencil artists... but i think there is an important difference to be discussed there.

Banksy • Choose Your Weapon Print, by daveart on Nov 29, 2010 2:32:59 GMT 1, I like the concept of this as I have collected Haring prints for years and more recently Banksy. I am however kind of put off by the shape of the dog. If Banksy is giving respect to KH through this print .. shouldn't the dog be the correct shape ? ( i havent scanned the whole KH image library but I dont ever recall the dog's mouth being turned up ). It seems to me by making the dog his own shape and putting his leash on the dog it is implying that he somehow owns/better than/ master of KH ? or maybe I'm just digging too deep here. If someone has a KH image showing the dog in this way please post.
The dog should look like this. one of the few print runs showing only the dog from the icon series approved prior to KH's death but KH did not live long enough to sign.

Kaws • Sponge Bob KawsBob Set, Yellow, Black, Red, by daveart on Nov 8, 2010 20:00:35 GMT 1, let the guy sell it or trade it without hassle. that's my 2cents. people get caught up in it because its new. have ha hard time believing this print will be worth debating in two years... but i've been wrong before. that said.. is all of this over a piece of yellow paper with a sketch of sponge bob on it? as much as i like art and all and hate it when people look at things and say "dude.. my son could draw that!" uhh.. on this one.. i just have to say .. "dude....."

THE COA AND PROVENANCE CULTURE, by daveart on Oct 26, 2010 22:20:45 GMT 1, I am all for a nice paper trail .. but also find it odd that buyers feel that someone that could manage to nicely fake a large print couldn't also be bothered to fake a nice COA .. once someone decides to break the law its a tricky situation.

WTB(M) Banksy Barcode, by daveart on Oct 19, 2010 21:58:21 GMT 1, I have been thinking about trying to track down a Banksy Barcode. that's the (M) = MAYBE = depending on what is offered and at what price, etc.. so just curious if anyone out there has one that needs to find a new home. Looking for an unsigned version. I am in the US so would have to consider shipping if yours if framed. PM me if you have something to have me take a look at. Basically going to go by expressobeans and best guess for pricing guide.. please have paperwork sorted out or be willing to get it sorted out. not in a huge hurry..
Thanks.
