Faile • Dog Prints, All Editions , by daveart on Nov 8, 2017 4:01:58 GMT 1, Thank you Faile313 for the links. these dogs were so cheap back in the day. i think many of them were stuck in cheap frames with tape. similar story to a lot of the early Banksy prints. I would still buy that monster dog .. at a lower price. it is what it is and they are not making any more. but the price is just pretty high given the tape in my humble opinion. time will tell.........

Banksy Print, Canvas, WANTED, by daveart on Nov 7, 2017 19:08:48 GMT 1, funny that this piece now needs elaboration.
Do you mean : 1.Original Sale ends from 2006 signed 2.Original Sale Ends from 2006 unsigned 3.Upcoming Sale Ends from 2017 - or what year will they date these i wonder. Did they make new ones in 2017 or are these things been sitting around from 20xx some previous date.
well anyway, carry on..

D*Face Pop Tart Print, by daveart on Nov 7, 2017 0:07:11 GMT 1, $3000 is strong money. it is a very iconic piece and DFace has stayed at the top of the game for a good while now .. do think it is well deserved but in the end i think the buyer over paid as these can be had for a bit less.

Murakami And then, And then Garble Glop, by daveart on Nov 1, 2017 20:30:25 GMT 1, Letting go one of my DOB's .. this is a very early DOB from 2006 - not to be confused with the many color editions that have come since. Which are in my opinion .. not nearly as good am i biased.. well, YES!
Murakami And then, and then DOB - Garble GLOP Run 300 19.6 * 19.6
Stored flat since purchased many years back. This is not in the original packaging.
Asking $1250 + Shipping
Oh, and for those that read this far.. once this sells.. i am going to sell a FAILE dog... so, line up your funds if you have been waiting for an early dog - i'll even give first refusal to the buyer of the DOB .. DOB must sell first
teaser image for next sale.......

.........., by daveart on Oct 20, 2017 19:40:01 GMT 1, Regardless of the auction information above.. id put this closer to the original posters asking price.. minus reasonable offers discount.. Retna Art Alliance Provocateurs prints of 200 edition are routinely getting over 3K usd on the bay now.. strange but true. This is bigger, more color, lower edition, looks nicely framed - id never sell for 2.5 K .. good luck with the sale... seems like someone will want this. Or . hmm. maybe i played this wrong.. Let me know if you will take 2.5K for it !

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by daveart on Oct 11, 2017 16:27:31 GMT 1, I have just read the last two pages of this in reverse and am completely lost... Does it make any more sense at all if you read all ten pages from the beginning ?

Swoon Archivist Circle, by daveart on Aug 4, 2017 15:02:00 GMT 1, I picked up a Bicycle Boy and Ice Queen thinking the shipping costs might reduce if I bought two but alas that wasn't the case. Nevertheless, I have great admiration for Swoon and am more than happy to support her in this latest endeavour. I picked up a few things as well and thought the shipping and handling was steep.
one thing i found confusing on the site. I think what they are saying is that say the block for the print was made in 2010 or whatever year - but that they are making new impressions for this sale. does that sound correct? or do you understand it that they have the old block AND also have these old impressions from that time period. not sure if it really matters that much but seems important to know when the impression on paper was actually made.

Swoon Archivist Circle, by daveart on Aug 2, 2017 17:45:05 GMT 1, If you are not following along on instagram/facebook - Swoon is preparing for a large retrospective show at the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center.
www.contemporaryartscenter.org/exhibitions/2017/09/swoon
To support the show the Swoon team has put up new and old work on a website specifically to raise funds and awareness for the show at CAC.
Information here : swoonstudio.org/archivists-circle/
Swoon really puts heart and soul into her work and I believe that by collecting her art you are getting not only great art but are also giving support to a wonderful team of people.
I am posting here to encourage people to go take a look, maybe buy a piece - there are some very affordable screen prints all the way up to her editioned originals - etc.
Thank you !

Faile • Dog Prints, All Editions , by daveart on Jul 16, 2017 16:47:49 GMT 1, is it really masking tape .. or a framers tape ? I have seen prints with framing material on the back where the hinges were cut rather than removed - as long as it is framing material it doesnt pose any danger to the quality of the print.. and if it really bothered you i am sure a person that knew what they were doing could wet them and get them off for $50 or something. if it really is a masking tape or non archival tape. eh. still very little risk to the impression i would think any time in our lives.

I give it ... 10 , 9 , 8 , 7 ... haha I knew this wouldn't make it a full page without you popping in :-) I'll give it until tomorrow morning. see that's real restraint there.. i'm a few dogs short of needing a license for running a dog pound..

Retna Print them all, by daveart on Jul 11, 2017 20:56:35 GMT 1, only twelve ? these will sell out in 24 hours i would think. . agree with others it isnt the easiest image to warm up to but after looking at it a bit more it is growing on me. and i like the old school printing technique of the stone ,etc. only selfishily wish it were half the price.

Weird Damien Hirst signature, by daveart on Jul 1, 2017 0:38:46 GMT 1, same butterfly is available on white cube i believe for approx same price. no reason to take risks with the butterflies.. they are around.. and plenty of them it seems.. the signatures do look different which seems od.. both galleries should know their way around these pieces..
whitecube.com/shop/editions/damien_hirst_to_lure/
always thought a set of 4 would look great on the wall .. never did it..

Street art copyright issues?, by daveart on Jun 26, 2017 18:48:19 GMT 1, I find this seems to happen throughout the scene - the artists seem to - i think 'appropriate' is the nicest term - images from around the various brands in the world. i do find it a bit ironic though when artists scream bloody murder when a brand uses their art as a background or it shows up in an ad somewhere.... then it's all lawyers and intellectual property ..blah blah. bottom line to me.. its all about the money and which party happens to have a lawyer on speed dial..
not being a lawyer - my 2 cents is he is probably fine doing art but if he tried to make an electronic game he would pounced on and stopped quickly.

Invader RVE Repetition Variation Evolution Print, by daveart on Jun 26, 2017 17:27:10 GMT 1, Good Lord .. 10 pages .. 8,700 page views.. in about four hours. this has to be a new record... - its cool - i get it - but invader pieces have been available for a good while at nice entry points and this amazing price escalation and frenzy in the last 6-8+ months is dizzying.

Using Collection for Art Show , by daveart on Jun 26, 2017 14:29:28 GMT 1, wow. that swoon piece is incredible. could you share some info on it? The Swoon is an original piece based on the thalassa image. Thalassa is Swoon's representation of the goddess of the ocean ? something like that . I believe the image was first used by her in a commissioned installation she did for the New Orleans Museum of Art. It was in part inspired by the deep water horizon oil spill .. This piece is called Colored Red Sea Horses - and is massive at almost 80 inches framed.

Using Collection for Art Show , by daveart on Jun 26, 2017 14:08:54 GMT 1, Thank you all. Sharing the art is really what this is all about. We are in a mid size midwest USA town and it is really kind of odd the number of people that have really never heard of Banksy, Brainwash, Swoon, Fairey.. so i get a lot of "what is this?" and that is kind of fun. And then you get another group come through and someone is practically crazy with excitement taking pictures and selfies and jumping around like "oh my God i cant believe this is here !!" and that is fun too. The show is all packed up now. I pay some art installers from the local art museum to come help and man they take it very seriously which is such a pleasure.
I'll get over the cost and hassle by next May just in time to do it all again..

Using Collection for Art Show , by daveart on Jun 24, 2017 23:54:28 GMT 1, Hi all, I have been around this forum for a good while and have done many purchases, sales, etc and also had the great fortune to meet some people at shows etc. Five years ago I started doing an annual show with my collection at a local gallery that is in a public Social Club. The club is in an inner city ( for our somewhat small city that isn't saying a lot ) area and focuses on programming ranging from wellness classes to cooking classes and everything in between. They have a gallery as well that predominantly shows local artwork and shows from local schools, etc. So, I do a show in their gallery to try to bring a bunch of people down and give exposure to all the other programming and also - have some fun - drink some beer etc. etc. Anyway, its stressful. expensive. etc. risky even. but.. I have found it rewarding and i have had some great conversations with people about the art. the artists, etc. This year i really focused part of the show on issues covered by urban art and had little informational sheets about the art and the artists. I also had a wall of more fun art - Brainwash - so that the whole thing didn't get too preachy. Fairey - We the People for immigration. Swoon Thalassa for environment. Swoon Portrait of Silvia Elena ( a really touching/sad back story) for issues about violence towards women.
Anyway, that's the story. thanks for reading.. and here are pictures of the show. Most taken without people- just one with a person in it so you get a sense of scale on that one. its a big beautiful Swoon....
I think these show most of the views.. i hope you enjoy.. many thanks to people on this forum that have provided input and help over the years. I am truly interested in the art, the back story of the pieces, and the social commentary of the whole scene.
**and ... for the most part .. not for sale **
ok, here we go..
We the People - and i got some newspapers from the day they were published

Sandra Chevrier Originals..., by daveart on Jun 6, 2017 14:38:17 GMT 1, These are really good. Sandra is a hugely talented artist. I know all the artists here have talent of varying types. Some is conceptual, some is great timing and wit, and some is just full on ability to create.. and i think Sandra is one of the very few that can start with a white sheet of paper, some paint, and a few brushes and actually make something amazing. As compared to say invader who is uhh.. assembling tiles. Nothing wrong with that.. but the artistic talent is way way behind the concept, timing, wit talent. Sandra has true artistic ability to create and i hope that carries her long into the future. Someone should snap these up and enjoy them for many years.

Keith Haring - The Story of Red and Blue, by daveart on May 25, 2017 17:34:52 GMT 1, and here is paddle8's entry into the world of deceptive descriptions...
paddle8.com/work/keith-haring/63604-no-13-from-the-story-of-red-and-blue
in case the link doesnt work..
it says : "Signed and dated in pencil on recto; numbered on verso and stamped by Estate of Keith Haring "
ha ha.. what ?
it should say clearly ..."Stamped, numbered, dated, and signed on Recto (Back) by Julia Gruen executor of the Keith Haring Estate" ..
in my humble opinion..
so there you go .. check their wording.. get pictures front and back.. etc. most people that frame KH Estate prints will leave an open block in the back of the frame so you can see the estate stamp and signature ..

Keith Haring - The Story of Red and Blue, by daveart on May 25, 2017 17:30:31 GMT 1, for example.. sorry to ramble on..
here is a gallery - Joseph Fine art.. www.josephfineart.co.uk/artists/30-keith-haring/works/705/
"Stamp signed with the artist's signature and dated bottom right. Signed, numbered, dated and stamped, verso by the Keith Haring Estate"
this is total BS to confuse people. stamped signed.. ha. whatever. its estate signed and my opinion is KH did not actually touch this work. if he had there would be no reason at all for Julia Gruen to estate sign it.. and the estate signatures were only done after his death. confusing at best and fraudulent at worst.

Keith Haring - The Story of Red and Blue, by daveart on May 25, 2017 17:27:17 GMT 1, if you are considering buying get pictures of the actual piece - front and back - i think you will find that the back has a hand stamp area on it where it is stamped and then information filled in ...by the estate .. and signed by Julia Gruen. search google and look at images. wont take long to find an image of what this looks like.
KH did pass at about this time and 'MAYBE' there are some signed by him.. i dont know aobut that .. those would be highly valuable.. these ones signed by the estate are usually pretty reasonably priced.
galleries play this game with the pop shop images as well. some are signed by KH and some are signed by the estate. I periodically send notes to galleries that are listing items as signed and tell them they should update their listing to say "estate signed" i wonder how many people get taken in by this little scheme.

RETNA - Diptych print, by daveart on May 25, 2017 16:46:45 GMT 1, if one or two are held back .. that seems legit to say 'sold out' if they have 45 of them then that would be manipulation.. seems to be people are saying this is not just one or two held back. so i think if they are accusing the gallery of that they should have some actual information to share.
