BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by bigtlt on Nov 10, 2013 11:47:29 GMT 1, Think it might be best to name the gallery.
If people have a paper trail back to that gallery it gives them the chance to do something about it.

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Invaded 420 on Nov 10, 2013 12:02:03 GMT 1, For people worried about fakes. Just hold the packaging up to a light, and if there is any raised embossing that is imprinted into the bag that does not line up with the yellow writing then I would be concerned. The one in the pic 'hypnotic Vienna' was more obvious because the bag was never dated. But the newer dated ones are harder to see as these have the yellow printed date over the embossing on the fake bag. I hope this helps. Are all bags embossed? Is the yellow date on the front always? Was googling images and most examples appear to be on the front, where as mine isn't - so alarm bells started ringing. But I found a similar example here: www.maxwellcolette.com/artist/space_invader/50286/ik_11_blue_2009/Are they all supposed to look like this with yellow print on front? Will post pics of mine but was just wondering. I seen this exact one on eBay with no yellow stamp on the front a few months ago. Deffinately looked dodgy to me

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Deleted on Nov 10, 2013 12:12:13 GMT 1, I just received a picture of someone who thinks his kit is a fake too..
Def a fake kit, you can clearly see the embossed triangle with the circle and the 'new' stamp on top of the embossed one but slightly off to the right.

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Happy Shopper on Nov 10, 2013 12:22:09 GMT 1, Also, I assumed those bags were printed by the company that makes them. Meaning that anyone could by them without having to make "fakes".
Does Invader really get that yellow text printed himself?

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Deleted on Nov 10, 2013 12:23:01 GMT 1, Good idea but we need to be 100% sure they are fake....
I am 100% sure that my kits (the sealed bags) are fake. Orbi told me and the bag has a 2012 embossed stamp in it. This is impossible since the kit was from 2008. "When someone took the time and effort of faking the bag the kit itself is also labeled as a fake" Orbi told me this. I don't want to name the gallery because they seem like a legit gallery and i don't want to harm any business or reputation. I do know some other members bought at this gallery too. And i know that this gallery bought more kits from the French guy. The gallery is on this forum so they could reply on this thread if they want to.

Meaning that anyone could by them without having to make "fakes". Does Invader really get that yellow text printed himself? I think the company prints the bags. So if you know where you can buy the bags you don't need to re-print them. But perhaps Orbi can explain that? I do know that the bag is exactly like the invader bag. (Could be a bag from another kit)
Until they're named (so people can check their paper trail) I'd assume no one will be buying these kits without a receipt from invader! Just check the kits right now. (Check the embossed stamp, the yellow paint, and compare the kit to other kits/pictures) The gallery is informed and i think the gallery should reply themselves. To explain what's going on. This way they can explain and answer any questions. At this point the gallery is not selling any more kits.

The bags come with the yellow print already on them. I'm an engineer and we get sensitive electrical components in these bags, I think that's what they are originally intended. To protect them from static.

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by mrquirt on Nov 10, 2013 13:23:44 GMT 1, Hello everybody. The guy who sold the kits it's me. The kits supposed to be fake are 5
3 Tokyo 2 Vienna
I bought the first couple of kits form a french guy telling him if he could found other similar I'll be happy to buy them. I bought 5 kits in one year, kits was perfect, I could not see anything wrong since Json wrote me. I sold this kits to:
1Tokio 1Vienna to J w** w**e 1Tokio 1Vienna to J R**h 1Tokio to M S**e
All buyers will be contacted. Of course as a gallerist this is a real nightmare and I'm very disappointed and I was waiting to have back the kits from Json to see the pieces and decide what to do and kits are in their way to me at the moment, but Json mailed me about the post and here I am. For any questions please mail to stefano@999gallery.com

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by howies on Nov 10, 2013 13:26:53 GMT 1, we are going to have a whole new Banksy/POW provenance drama on our hands, Invader prices are moving up at a rapid rate, the last batch of tiles were all signed to avoid this but all previous batches of tiles that are unsigned opened and displayed have the ability of being forged! Is Invader able to verify older tiles without bags with a COA and provenance? I doubt it as they are in reality only tiles, interesting times ahead on this one.

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Deleted on Nov 10, 2013 13:29:40 GMT 1, Hi 999,
Thanks for replying on this thread. Hope this helps with people who have questions about the fake kits. Seems a bit more fake ones have been sold. So it seems that this French guy also faked the kits itself? If he sold you 3 Tokyo and 2 Vienna kits perhaps he made/sold more of them.... And clearly did not only fake the bags.
This French guy should be sued! Orbi should also know this French guys name and address....

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by sal on Nov 10, 2013 14:03:21 GMT 1, First of all, gefeliciteerd and best of luck with the family upgrade Json24!
Orbi told me that when the kit has been opened there is no way of telling if the kit itself is real.
I find this a bit wrong - kits are sold with instructions on how to use em (place em on the wall), but yet they suggest that when you open it you pretty much ruin the work?! I really can't wrap my head around this concept?! So the whole idea behind it is that you keep them stored in original pakcage in order to retain their value, or display them sealed, which IMHO looks really bad?! It kind of feels as they are selling stocks or golden bars instead of an artwork.
My 3D kit has been out of the bag and framed since I got it, and I never looked back. Hearing that the artist (or his store) suggest that being risky business doesn't really feel right.

If there sposed to be opened then surely there supposed to be opened without a knife, just slid out at the unsealed end. In this case ik14 sig would be ripped in half? So it seems to me they were sposed to be left sealed. Obviously 15 the open end doesn't run through sig so easy to open without ruining sig. Mixed messages. I got my 14 opened but with a scalpel (which felt weird. Felt it should have been opened the way it was intended but like i said i didnt wanna damage the sig) an 15 un opened as of yet.

Hearing that the artist (or his store) suggest that being risky business doesn't really feel right. Bedankt Sal Orbi told it to me in the context of our conversation. I was asking if he could see if the kit itself was also a fake. He told me that when the seal was faked there was no way of telling if the kit itself was also fake or real. If you have prov of buying the kit from Invader and have the bag (with or without the sig) you are pretty save re having a real kit. If you buy a kit which is opened it is very hard to see if the tiles have been faked. The hard part of faking is (and now : used to be) the bag.
I could understand the instructions just bein there for novelty almost. As it kinda implies to stick it outside maybe an invader has said many times he didn't wanna make the game 2 player
Edit : I also think that the whole idea was that the kits who were sold in the past were meant to be stuck on buildings (expanding the invasion). But a lot of people started collecting them and trading in them, prices kept climbing and now most of the invader kits will never be opened because it will loose it's value.

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Pipes on Nov 10, 2013 14:55:49 GMT 1, Are all bags embossed? Is the yellow date on the front always? Was googling images and most examples appear to be on the front, where as mine isn't - so alarm bells started ringing. But I found a similar example here: www.maxwellcolette.com/artist/space_invader/50286/ik_11_blue_2009/Are they all supposed to look like this with yellow print on front? Will post pics of mine but was just wondering. I would say the pic with no yellow print could be a fake. Some of the kits came with dates in yellow and some didn't. It depends what year. All bags from the same edition should be the same ie all with yellow print. But if it is dated it should match the year the kit was made, it's not the yellow writing you need to be looking for, it's if there is embossing underneath that doesn't line up with the yellow print. On the 2 kits in question both had a 2012 emboss in the bag but hypnotic Vienna was made in 2009 and never had a date on the bags anyway. Does anyone know specifically about IK11?
Mine is not embossed (uh oh) and the yellow print faces the sticker on the other side of the bag (double uh oh)
Was bought from am online gallery - but my doubts are getting stronger.
Are all bags embossed? Is the yellow date on the front always? Was googling images and most examples appear to be on the front, where as mine isn't - so alarm bells started ringing. BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Invaded 420 on Nov 10, 2013 14:58:01 GMT 1, Yeah I believe that too man. As In The early invasion guide it gives hints to spreading the invasion with kits but more recent years invader seemed to change his mind in being 2 player And people Putin kits up. If it was just helping spreading the invasion then no one would spend 300โฌ + in kits wen they could buy cheap tiles an put pieces up around the city they live in. Like you said it turned into a collecting thing years ago and with it invaders attitude on getting help spreading the invasion also changed. Love the kits though an will always try and collect them as I couldn't afford an original or alias. There a great idea.

The embossed bit is not done on purpose. It was done when the original yellow print was printed on the package. It leaves a little imprint in the package. So check the package if you can find this little embossed print under the yellow text. If you find it on a different part of the package where the yellow text is you should contact Orbi. Or post a picture so i or Justdave can take a look at it. Hold it up against the light so you can easily spot the embossed print...

Its as if the bag is inside out.

You can see the embossed date "2012" and you can see the original triangle in half the round too. Doesn't appear to be ANY embossing - but I can't see it on other IK11's either - can anyone verify IK11 has embossed text/triangle?
Text appears to be correct and the fold is even in the same place as above. But thats not rocket science to fake.
If you are going to go to trouble of faking - would expect to make the bag the right way around.
