BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by twist65 on Dec 16, 2013 12:22:42 GMT 1, I know there are already good images etc on here to spot fakes, but I meant to do so last month and forgot - if it helps anyone else to avoid getting scammed then I figure worth posting again..
FAKE HYPNOTIC VIENNA - close up of front of bag - you can see where the bag has had the original print removed and turned inside out before reprinting, there is a slightly visible mirror image "deboss" of the original print from the bag... Note the 2012 letters mirror-imaged to the left of the new fake printed 2010 date...
Reverse - this was easier to spot especially when comparing the fake kit to a legit kit (something I should have done straight away but you live and learn)... The instructions sheet is inkjet printed - you can see the banding from the print head, and the cyan, magenta and yellow inks are also present, fuzzing the text slightly and appearing in the tints. On the legit kits I had, the label was either litho printed or screen printed, as the black was totally solid, so printed as a spot colour, really dense and sharp.
I scanned these high res at work, and forwarded copies of the scans to Orbi as I thought they would want as much info on fakes as possible. Really hope no-one else gets burnt with these, but sadly looks like a problem thats not going to go away... =[

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Cedric Mnich on Jan 27, 2014 14:56:09 GMT 1, I am the seller of Invasion Kit 13 at Artcurial next week. The auction house asked me for a proof of purchase (which of course I have) because there are fake kits circulating (info given by Invader himself to the auction house), especially kit 13 it seems. A french guy seems to have been sold fake ones in France and Italy. Invader filed a complaint, so be careful if you purchase Invader kits without any proof of origin.

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Justdave on Jan 27, 2014 16:46:24 GMT 1, Yes, there was a thread about this before Christmas. It's seems to be the Tokyo and hypnotic Vienna that are theones that have been faked. If you know what your looking for it can be spotted. There are also pics of what to look for on the other thread.

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by beatztom on Jan 27, 2014 23:04:31 GMT 1, Hey, that sucks :-(
I'd like to see pictures of what a fake kit looks like so that I can be on my guard!
I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the direction of the thread which deals with this subject, cheers!

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Cedric Mnich on Jan 29, 2014 11:03:29 GMT 1, Reading the thread. Wow. I guess it will be cautious to avoid any invader kit sales if the guy can't proof some real proof of purchase. The anti-static enveloppe can no longer be considered a reliable COA...
FYI, Artcurial asked me to prove the authenticity of my IK 13, I could easily prove it with my orbi order confirmation with my name and order number. I advise you all to keep that order info in your archives !

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Cedric Mnich on Jan 29, 2014 11:19:26 GMT 1, Hmmm Has the french fake provider been named ? I'd be curious to know who it is... Facebook has a strong invader community and counterfeiters should be known. FYI I opened a recent thread related to fake kits as I am currently selling my IK 13 at Artcurial auction next week. Good thing is that Invader/Orbi are vigilant now as they asked the auction house to be assured of the authenticity of mine (luckily I kept email exchanges with Orbi and invader when I had ordered mine).
urbanartassociation.com/thread/113134/fake-kits-careful?page=1&scrollTo=1156520
I guess future kit releases will have some sort of better COA / proof of purchase tracking item. But older kits will get risky to buy :-(

But if you read that thread someone heard from orbi that they don't keep a record of orders so anyone could edit a previous order confirmation to make it look like they brought at kit. The order numbers are also quite random. The only true way is if its sealed and by looking at the bag. If you look at picture examples on the thread on fake kits its very easy to see where the old stamp would have been rubbed away as it leaves indentations. I guess original package from space shop would help but again they could acquire these. Personally I'd only buy from source

However the Tokyo one was a good fake, you had to look really hard and know what you were looking for to spot it.

The problem is that some people bought kits 10 years ago, and don't have either the packaging nor the paperwork! I recently acquired 1,2, and 3 from a person who bought them off the space shop all those years ago. The person who sold them to me was trustworthy and I fully inspected the kits before making the deal. I would have preferred to have had original packaging and receipts, but there was no way in hell I was going to let IK #1,2 and 3 slip through my fingers!

Wow invasion kits 1, 2, and 3? Nice pick up. Are you going to frame them? Would love to see those bad boys framed up.

Doubt invasion kits are gonna ever be any cheaper. The way things are going they are just gonna keep going up.

I didn't bother because of same reason. Hoping for a new invader, and was a bit purchase happy recently. This art collecting is an expensive hobby. Ha ha.

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by 2badmice on Nov 6, 2014 12:27:21 GMT 1, I know there are already good images etc on here to spot fakes, but I meant to do so last month and forgot - if it helps anyone else to avoid getting scammed then I figure worth posting again.. =[ Just a quick update on this....the original bag does not have a date on it, so keep an eye out for that.
Also, the bag printing is way more sharp than that.

On the legit kits I had, the label was either litho printed or screen printed, as the black was totally solid, so printed as a spot colour, really dense and sharp.ย I scanned these high res at work, and forwarded copies of the scans to Orbi as I thought they would want as much info on fakes as possible. Really hope no-one else gets burnt with these, but sadly looks like a problem thats not going to go away... =[ Just a quick update on this....the original bag does not have a date on it, so keep an eye out for that. Also, the bag printing is way more sharp than that.
Some of the bags do have dates on, some don't. Depends what year they are.

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by pdjones512 on Oct 21, 2018 22:40:46 GMT 1, I've been reading a bit about people's experiences getting burned with fake invader kits. Does anyone have a resource or maybe a previous post or photos they could share on what to look for on a fake kit? Obviously original purchase receipt and shipping material is preferred but sometimes in the 2nd 3rd 4th owne that isnt feasible. So what else should I be looking out for? What about signed invader kits?

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by pada1 on Oct 22, 2018 5:35:28 GMT 1, Interested as well to know what a fake looks like, what it comes with.
Faking the tiled design and signature is not very difficult ino. But thr package requires a bit more logistic and samples in hands.

BEWARE โข Fake Invader Kits, by Chrisp on Oct 22, 2018 9:17:39 GMT 1, There were some fake kits with the exact same anti static packaging, there's a thread somewhere in this forum. Obviously an email receipt can be faked, best to stick to buying with original packaging but there is lots and lots without it.
I binned mine but sold my only kit a while ago. Prices get higher the problem gets worse.
