BANKSY The Unauthorised Retrospective , by Deleted on Jun 7, 2014 15:40:11 GMT 1, Strange conversation, pretty obvious he's a millionaire, his brand (Banksy) alone would be worth millions, just like Trump etc etc never mind his originals being sold to the VIPs, his film, his artist resale rights, POW sales, he aint hard up that's for sure!

BANKSY The Unauthorised Retrospective , by Deleted on Jun 7, 2014 15:48:10 GMT 1, This whole thing is sort of like WWE wrestling. We pretend everyone's not in on it but we know they are. Do you think Laz is doing this independently from Banksy and his PR team? Not bloody likely. Yup.
Laz with past connection to Banksy / Sothebys with connection to loadsamoney client base.
Clears the attics anyhow. imo.
There again, you never know.

BANKSY The Unauthorised Retrospective , by Deleted on Jun 7, 2014 15:53:04 GMT 1, I'm sure i read somewhere there's a one-off 'Morons' variant that will be available. Anyone got any pictures/details? In the early press releases for Better Out Than In the attic there was mention of a version yes, around 9k GBP it said..
Wonder if there will be a stall selling canvasses nearby?.
Wonder if Tom Baxter will go?.

If I'd been more switched on I should have looked around the sothebys location for empty shops to rent for a few weeks, ah well maybe next time

BANKSY The Unauthorised Retrospective , by Deleted on Jun 7, 2014 16:18:34 GMT 1, The Mayfair event will mark another move closer to the establishment for the Bristol-born artist, who has always had an ambivalent, and sometimes rancorous, relationship with the upper end of the art market. In 2007, after huge auction prices were achieved for some of his works at Sotheby's, Banksy released the limited-edition print "Morons," showing a tuxedo-clad auctioneer taking bids for a painting. Sotheby's will be offering a version of the print in their S|2 show, priced at around 9,000 pounds, about $15,000. Banksy's paintings will be valued at several hundred thousands of pounds, the consultant said.
Here it was Andy, its probably gone up now though!.

Tom Baxter will probably try to buy the walls surrounding the artwork.

BANKSY The Unauthorised Retrospective , by Deleted on Jun 7, 2014 16:43:40 GMT 1, Not sure what to make of that to be honest Wiz, can't see Laz selling stuff half price, maybe he's asking 9k for a signed sepia morons released edition, I suppose it is a version as theres a blk/white released version. If he's selling a unique variant for 9k I'll be unconsolable for telling everyone and not bagging it for myself. Too late to delete all the posts?

Low estimate to draw in the punters....

BANKSY The Unauthorised Retrospective , by eschiff on Jun 7, 2014 17:37:50 GMT 1, read this in the guardian
The two men parted company years ago, and the exhibition – in Sotheby's recently opened selling gallery, across the road from the auction rooms – is billed as "the Unauthorised Retrospective". "I emailed his people, they know. Not pleased," Lazarides said. Banksy will, however, profit from the show, under the artist's resale rights provision that gives him from 4% of the price of each work up to a cap of about £9,000.

i thought they would have fixed prices as theyre being sold private rather than estimates etc, i could be wrong though?

BANKSY The Unauthorised Retrospective , by Deleted on Jun 7, 2014 20:01:08 GMT 1, It will be very interesting to see how many people this show will attract. It's a real pull for Sotherbys and will be a real insight into the Banksy market current and future. Will be interesting to see how much of Sotherbys traditional customer base visit the show. Whether he is involved or not this could certainly end up as a very significant show in terms of his status in the "Art World" Now the prices are out there I wouldnt be surprised if Banksy says something on his site about the event.
