Kaws Presenting The Past Print , by mad_eclectic on Sept 22, 2014 5:32:16 GMT 1, As far as I've understood the print was only availalbe through the online submission that took part over the weekend. It will be fun to see if anyone here gets the confirmation. So far I havent read anything on how the decision on who's getting the print will be made. If it's for the first 250 who signed up, then it guess it's long gone. But based on how he said registration through Sunday 21st, it could mean it ends with a lottery or something. Haven't heard of anyone getting the GO.

No prints were released for the show here in LA. I confirmed that several weeks ago.

Kaws Presenting The Past Print , by Dice on Sept 22, 2014 9:01:47 GMT 1, The print was on display in Hong Kong last week but I'm not sure if it was for sale.
I'm guessing there could be a second round of confirmations if some who originally got the confirmation decided not to "wire" the money over. What the hells wrong with paying on Visa anyway?

Which could cause a bit of mess if they are then put up for sale again.

Yes, it was for sale, and bought from my friend at $41,000 hkd
The set of 10 prints released last years were selling at $450,000 HKD, almost double of the released price.
However, early works selling price seems more 'reasonable'. search #kaws at instagram, you can see the price list

Kaws Presenting The Past Print , by Icesay on Sept 22, 2014 19:24:55 GMT 1, Money money money. Personally would be bored with this image in about 5 seconds. I don't care who the artist is, or how long they have been around. Is the image great, fantastic, thought provoking or just down right amazing? For me it's a no on all counts. For that kind of money there are hundreds of better pictures that you could look at again and again.

On a phone so I can't easily post the picks and without being to specific (I really don't want to daydream about what I can't buy). But I would definitely go for: - New Swoon variant (only $3200) - a Barry McGhee - a Murakami - a JR
At least in regards to my taste.

Yeah but in regards to this image Murakami is probably a better buy.

I'm sure you can think of plenty of others! But this thread is about Kaws and i got bored reading about the cost....my point was simply that great art doesn't cost a fortune until you say who is it by. If i like a tune i dance to it!

I'm reading an interesting book at the moment, something like The Supermodel and the soap box. Talks a bit about why people buy art, what motivates the buyer and what purpose it serves. I'm loving the book so far. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in the economics of the art market. I know I'm way off topic at the moment but it is somewhat related because it goes to why people would like the KAWS print enough to pay that much money vs other less expensive art.
