That's odd...
When first talking with him Sat morning, he thought we were 'across the pond' and initially quoted us $75???
Getting greedy?
Edit: he also charged sales tax even though it was being shipped out of state. I tried to tell him it wasn't required but didn't think it was worth the trouble to pursue any farther after my initial query.

The cost of the prints quoted as $321 + $100 shipping "across the pond", still pretty good for a low edition Blek?

It's about what I was charged: 300 for the print and 7% sales tax.
Like you said nice prints at a good price so I didn't argue

Blek le Rat show in NYC Weds Oct 8, by Deleted on Oct 6, 2014 0:01:06 GMT 1, I picked up Alex (although the invoice had violin instead of "guitar")... Would have looked lovely with colors... But I guess Blek's style is monochromatic... Pretty stoked to own a print by a legend. Alas, Banksy is out of my reach.

Blek le Rat show in NYC Weds Oct 8, by randomname on Oct 7, 2014 23:54:23 GMT 1, For a second, I thought he might be doing a show without riding Banksy's coattails. But then I clicked on the link.
Blek Le Rat is the artist widely credited as The Father of Stencil Art and has been called "The Man Who Gave Birth to Banksy" by the Sunday Times. Even Banksy himself acknowledges the pedigree of Blek le Rat saying "every time I think I've painted something slightly original, I find out that Blek le Rat has done it as well, only twenty years earlier"
He's got a lot of milage out of something Banksy said sarcastically.

To pretend banksy has not in any way been inspired by blek is silly. Not even worth arguing over.

By the nature of the medium, there will be some similarities. If you look at the timeline of Blek's work, you'll find he changed his style to be more like Banksy's after he started becoming famous.

Go ahead and post images that back up that statement if you'd like. I'll, in turn, post photos of old ass blek stencils that banksy made near copies of long after. I'm not saying he stole them, but c'mon man, seems like you've been mr. brainwashed.

My inability to pick one up is finance related, not lack of access.

I'm not saying he stole them, but c'mon man, seems like you've been mr. brainwashed. Like I said, look at the timeline of his work. Before 2002, everything he did was a one-color stencil (usually black). After that, he started putting down a white base layer like a certain other artist who was fairly well known by then. Banksy had been using stencils since the late 90s.
That might not sound like a very big difference, but when you look at the work, this doesn't look too similar to Banksy.
This, on the other hand, looks much closer.
Blek takes credit for being the "father of stencil art." Stencil art has been around for at least 1,200 years and stencil graffiti began showing up in NYC in the 60s and 70s. So he didn't invent the stencil and he didn't invent stencil graffiti. If two people choose to paint stencils of people, some similarities are inevitable.
So in short, I think the similarities between their work are overstated, especially when you compare Blek's early work to Banksy. I also think Blek has made a pretty good career for himself using Banksy's name every chance he gets.

What you fail to mention is blek's pieces without a white layer are on white walls. The images you point to in his timeline even show that.
Blek has been making art far longer than banksy, and he certainly wasn't a nobody before banksycame around - especially in france. and your arguement that stencil has been around for 1200 years is ridiclous as you know that's not what they mean when they say that. If you can point to someone who's more well known for doing stencils before blek's time, I welcome hearing about them...
