I find that an odd comment mate, look at what Nick has achieved he can stand along side any of those artists.

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by jerikr on May 7, 2008 2:06:48 GMT 1, The bigger question is why NW gets respect from only half of the people on here. He's legit and does great work. So what gives?

I think you are missing the point of auctions. They are not to decide who is 'good' or 'great' in the world of Urban Art. They are there to sell stuff people want to buy, making money for the auction house in the process. The NW stuff wouldn't be there if no one was willing to buy. Your opinions are obviously not in the best interests of Bonhams.

I'm glad there's no Neate. I'm also surprised that there's NW, and that's not a judgement on his talent. I just feel that many artists are going too quickly from POW style galleries straight through to the major (international) auction houses without a chance to really lay down proper foundations.

Bit difficult for Bonhams to go backwards on that. He has commanded huge amounts of money (commission for them) in their auctions before. Some will argue he does have foundations, but that aside - Bonhams don't really 'care' about passing fads (maybe NW is, maybe he isn't) but the bottom line.

Working my book to a fair 10% over-round I'd go:
<$120........ 10/1 120-150..... 8/1 150-180..... 6/1 180-220...... 3/1 220-260...... 2/1 260-300...... 3/1 >300........... 5/1

Bonhams β’ Art Auctions β’ London π¬π§, by Bram on May 13, 2008 13:24:00 GMT 1, There is something about auctions that gives me that "hairs on the back of your neck" kind of feeling. I don't know if it's the ambiance or the smell of the really really rich but there is defo something electric about it.
A bit like the casino. Someone on here said that people who buy from the auction houses don't go on ebay and hence why people (rich or stupid) pay more at the auctions than they would off the bay but I suppose it's similar to why you may see James Bond in a casino in Monte Carlo and not in my local bookies.

If that is only slightly out of your reach, you've got yourself a new best mate ;D
