I have no idea, but my guess is that these two prints can be quite valuable. I know the unsigned Mary is a bit costly, and I would scream my lungs out if I lost anything that valuable imidiatly.

There can be a massive lag between the time that the item was paid for, received and when the credit card company says something is wrong. Given how long the credit card company takes and how long Pest Control takes to verify a change in ownership some awful situations may occur. |

I guess the lesson to be learnt is that when contacting PC to confirm the current owner it should be found out how long they have actually been assigned to that print for. If its less than 6months probably best to stay away as something like this can rear it's ugly head.

Hopefully everything will work out with Metropolis getting their money and me keeping my print. I'm not impressed with the huge flaw in the Pest Control system though. I could have bought the print 4 months and 8 days after the credit card fraud took place and have been told that everything is in order.

Forgive me, but I genuinely don't understand what that flaw could be, given that the post from the gallery says "We are in the process of informing Pest Control as to their status and have already reported it to Action Fraud Squad." I am assuming that as the gallery just found out there's a problem with the card there was no way for PC to know. Good luck in resolving this both Metropolis Art and Balboa. |

Not alluding to people involved in this instance but too many people are playing at being galleries now with Banksy (as well as other Artists) prints, all adding a chunk on for each offloading, in a rush to make profit sometimes corners are cut.

There are myriad legitimate reasons why a seller might want to move a print on so quickly, so I cast no aspersions, but following the sale by the gallery, there then followed at least 2 sales and possibly 3 of the same print in less than 1 month, bringing to my mind at least, the proverbial "hot" potato.

I think if the card was authorised at the time by the bank, then they will be the losers in this. It might take a bit of fighting from the gallery, but as long as they had the security numbers and address of the buyer, this can be the only outcome.
Not a nice situation to be in, but pretty sure you will not be the loser in this.
Good luck with it all though and hope it doesn't taint the love for the print.

Also if the card was stolen on a certain day, Wonder how long it took the card owner to notify the credit card company?
The prints were delivered to an address so that should be simple enough for the police.
Unless it's one of those organised gangs.
