STOLEN BANKSY'S, by ashbeck on Mar 20, 2015 15:21:49 GMT 1, Hard to believe someone in the US would send a complete stranger a banksy without payment, must be a first. Really pleased for you balboa and Met that says a lot about you as a gallery, i wouldnt hesitate buying from you. even harder to believe several forum members would send a complete stranger several thousands without actually verifying ownership of the print. with the stranger disappearing with the funds.
yes i was cautious and surprised he agreed. was convinced when he supplied a copy of his passport.
you all can finger point all you want but andy as a gallery, do ask met art what forms of identifications were requested off ben? at any time was the number provided actually called? and who said the email address provided was mine?
this will be my last post on this topic. he has my name and address. feel free to send the police my way. if i had anything to hide, i won't be back on here.
everyone seems to have a law degree of some sought.

Maybe it's because I just watched a movie on the McMartin Trials, but something isn't adding up. There's got to be a missing piece of the puzzle somewhere. We should hold off on burning anyone at the stake until all facts come to light

STOLEN BANKSY'S, by andyroo0312 on Mar 20, 2015 15:39:58 GMT 1, Why is the US scammer still placing orders (Prescription and Hang Up) to Ashbeck's address if he knows nothing about this situation? Just a thought. can you clarify with hangup and prescription art both orders were being sent to my address? sloane square? Are you a Sloane Ranger?

STOLEN BANKSY'S, by Happy Shopper on Mar 20, 2015 15:59:09 GMT 1, ... and who said the email address provided was mine? Met Art did a few pages back:
"Surprise, surprise, the contact details we have from the person who ''bought'' it off us and the person who sold it to Balboa were exactly the same. Same mobile number, same email address.
These are as follows email - bmars2218@gmail.com"
If that's not true, then it proves your case, if it is true... well...

STOLEN BANKSY'S, by Deleted on Mar 20, 2015 17:14:05 GMT 1, dear lord, you don't even need a law degree to know what's going on here.
I honestly hope ashbeck was the one who did this, because if he wasn't he'll probably be the one busted for it anyway given what all sides are working with. To put it metaphorically, ashbeck either shot the dude, or was left with the gun and is extremely naive.

STOLEN BANKSY'S, by Unica on Mar 21, 2015 0:09:24 GMT 1, Ashbeck gave me permission to post the private message and so I shall (in full and unedited) for full disclosure. I am now keeping out of this discussion because I have my print and frankly no longer care who is guilty or not. The situation is now for the police to resolve. "let me clarify certain things because i am slowly becoming the victim. i messaged you with a difference item for sale which later got sold prior to us agreeing on a price. j0ker had messaged me several weeks prior to the purchase was even made with several items for sale and i know of three other members he also messaged. being that not too long ago another member on here sold several works and then disappeared with the payment, i wasn't too keen on dealing with a new member who couldn't/ wouldn't transact via face to face as such i suggested if he was willing to send me the print, after i had received and certain it wasn't a fake, i would wire the funds which unbelievably he agreed. i also asked for an identificaction which he honoured by supplying a copy of his passport. up to this point, i believed i had done my due diligence and was protecting my money. now where the story got interesting, he claimed he would send the print to his contact in the uk (a gallery) who would unframe, package and redirect to me. he asked for my number as its needed by the courier company. i had his passport, i hadn't sent a penny off my money and pest control confirmed the print was intact authentic and registered to the name he supplied. please point out out any red flags i had missed. joker said he needed cash and was currently in the states and as such he couldn't honour my request for a face to face deal. fast forward couple of days and the print arrived, funnily addressed to him but i assumed the gallery thought he was forwarding it to himself in the uk. i checked the print again with coa at hand and again pc confirmed its legitimate. at this point i honoured our agreement by sending him his payment. now several questions i wish to raise, can you confirm at any point met art actually called that number and spoke to joker. did they ever receive any calls from my number? or was the number only ever provided. also can you please confirm if they actually accepted any proof of id for the delivery address. galleries do it all the time, you send them your work, they receive, inspect then pay. i was at all times protecting myself from being scammed. if i had known it was dodgy, why would i have suggested refunding you your payment while a take it up with met art before you pointed out the fact that would mean we are both knowingly handling stolen goods. i have nothing to hide and as such i am more than happy to be interviewed by the police. till this moment joker hasn't signed back on here nor has he replied. yet i am supposedly joker. i doubt i would have used my home as the delivery address of a stolen merchandise or offered to refund you. anyways i am glad it got resolved in your favour . i am now left to somehow clear my self of all wrong doing." Well I think you should care who is guilty and who isn't, so no one else gets stung!

STOLEN BANKSY'S, by Unica on Mar 21, 2015 4:04:20 GMT 1, Unica ... I believe balboa was being rhetorical … DAPPY, please explain to me why its rhetorical?
He very simply says and I quote.
"I am now keeping out of this discussion because I have my print and frankly no longer care who is guilty or not. The situation is now for the police to resolve."
I can't see why this is rhetorical and why he shouldn't be challenged on this statement, being that many people expressed concern about his situation and now he doesn't give a S##T who ripped him off, when two weeks ago he was beside himself. I would think it would be beneficial to the forum to out the scammers and thieves so no one else is ripped off. Think of it as a civic duty for the good of the community.

STOLEN BANKSY'S, by .dappy on Mar 21, 2015 8:06:11 GMT 1, I know what balboa said, as that is why I said that he was being rhetorical.
Met Art & balboa and more recently PA and Hang Up have all posted about what and who happened giving a full explanation of the facts and what took place - the 'outing' and 'scam' as you call it, is there for everybody to see.
It is all written in the Thread - I am not sure that it couldn't be clearer.
The Thread will not disappear as it is now also posted in the 'Not So Good Dealings With' Thread.
I hope that explains why the comment made by balboa was rhetorical.

This has taken up too much of my time and emotional energy over the last couple of months and I just want to move on now. As Dappy says, everything is there for people to read. We cannot convict this person, only the police can. The best we can hope for is to pin it down to a user profile on here and it's very easy for them to set up a new account if we do.
