I unfortunately could not bid in this as I was out at sea but if What I am reading is true FR should be banned.

I assumed the bidding was in GBP?

If not, its a bargain!!!

It was clearly an auction in £pounds.
The seller said highest bidder over 1400£
And the first few bids included the £sign.
I can't see where there is any confusion.

Just to clarify a bit. All the bidding was in £. First I posted that I was gong to end the bidding around twelve o`clock on Monday. A few minutes before 12 I posted that I was going to end the bidding in 15 minutes, to give everybody a heads up. And I did end it after 15 minutes. It was FR who had the highest offer at 1850£, so he will be the new owner of the canvas. Like it or not.

That being said, I didn't predict that this sale (my first sale here) would end up in a discussion about the use of words, or turning out with people blaming each other for different things. I had hoped the forum was a place were people with the same interest trusted each other, and art could change hands between like minded people.

In my opinion it's fair for all parties that the highest bidder gets the right to buy the item that's for sale. If someone is willing to pay more than you for a canvas then its your own fault, not everybody elses. I can see that bidding processes on PM can be a trust challenge when you don't know who your bidding against, or if  the seller are playing you. But still it's the buyers own choice to place a bid.

I'm new to this forum, and I would have appreciated if somebody could clarify for me how I should sell here in the future without stepping on anybody's toes, but still get as good price as possible.

For me the winner was the person with the highest bid at the end. 

This is one of the most authentic and transparent sales threads I have seen here.

In the future make your sales whichever way you want, don't let others influence you.
The price is good. Some people, maybe unwillingly and or unkowingly, are poisoning your heart, making you feel bad for suppossedly underselling at a lower and bargain price. Don't pay attention to those words.

You got more than what you wanted, you made a return on investment, you kept your word, you were clear, transparent and gracious. You did good. Don't change.
