Sandra Chevrier - Original on canvas, by Shoot Again on Jun 24, 2015 8:10:04 GMT 1, This is one of the most authentic and transparent sales threads I have seen here. Congratulations dent. In the future make your sales whichever way you want, don't let others influence you. The price is good. Some people, maybe unwillingly and or unkowingly, are poisoning your heart, making you feel bad for suppossedly underselling at a lower and bargain price. Don't pay attention to those words. You got more than what you wanted, you made a return on investment, you kept your word, you were clear, transparent and gracious. You did good. Don't change. Congratulations! I think you misunderstood me lucky7, I have no intention "to make dent feel bad and poisoning his heart" !!! I told him weldone if he's happy with the price he got, good for him. My point is NOT about the price achieved (I have no clue / interest on Chevrier prices) but purely to highlight the fact that he's been played by a MUCH more experienced forumite than him and coming from a Forum Guardian this is just intolerable in my books (sorry if I'm the only one feeling that way, but had to say it)
My advice (not to end up an auction in the middle of a weekday morning with nobody around) still stands by the way, maybe not for dent (as he doesn't seem to care) but for other newbies here who we now know can easily be gamed by a Forum Guardian (!!!).
Weldone Fะฏ, looks like your fan club is very pleased for you, rightly so ;-) I give you that : it was a genius trick of yours ... the fact that the newbie is applauding you for playing him must just be the cherry on the top ;-(

I do believe that its worth more, but then again, I would like for the value of her work to rise seeing as I have one myself..

This is an absolute new low with the forum and makes a complete mockery of the "forum guardian" system. To manipulate a sale by a new member for your own personal gain is bad enough, for a Forum Guardian to do so is unforgiveable and this is EXACTLY why there were some many members opposed to FR being made one in the first place.
Personally I was happy to give him a chance, but its clear from this episode that FR cannot be trusted as a forum guardian. I would also welcome other forum guardians opinion on this, as plenty have read or liked or commented on this thread but remarkably quiet on the subject. Its turning into a bit of a boys club. Guardians should be here to stop trolling and help new members, not publicly rip them off.
Dent - welcome, good to see a new member with admirable ethics. To answer your question, it is perfectly acceptable to accept highest bids via PM for a valuable original or print. In fact its the norm, especially for high ticket items where potential buyers appreciate a bit of discretion. I did the same for a friends Barcode not long ago, no complaints, sold to a happy forum member in 2 days at a fair price. I have NEVER seen a sale carried out like yours before, except low value charity sale threads. Fair play to you if you're happy, but if I had been played like that I would void the sale and get a fair price for your piece somewhere else.

I obviously completely agree with twist65 that it would be good to hear back from at least a few other forum guardians on what has taken place here ...

Sandra Chevrier - Original on canvas, by Harveyn on Jun 24, 2015 10:58:54 GMT 1, I have only just caught up on this thread. My thoughts are as follows.
1. I am not aware of any rule that says you cannot ask for offers by pm and as a seller state what offers you have had. I am aware that the rules state that it is preferred that you should try to put an asking price on your for sale thread but this often does not happen for many reasons.
2. No Forum Guardian should quote rules inaccurately.
Edited to clarify.
Unless the rules change to prohibit seller's from revealing the highest offer they have had (impossible to monitor?) then I can only speak from my own experience as a forum member. I have made countless offers by pm and then been told by the seller that they have a higher offer already. It was then up to me to make the judgement whether that was the truth or not. In these circumstances I tend to go as far as I am prepared to pay then back off. People have to use their own sound judgement.

Totally uncalled-for to call someone out publicly for running a suspect/dodgy bidding war, just because they didn't accept your bid... and as a Forum Guardian! As others have said, this isn't a new way of selling, and it's up to buyers to decide what they'd like to pay and who they trust.

Especially as he is a guardian and should be setting a good example to other forum members. Derailing another members for sale thread, only to add a snipe bid at the last minute. Is this acceptable Silky?

Brilliant work, mate. Yes please, let's get back to Fะฏ's practices please... so, apart from Harveyn who politely acknowledged that something was clearly wrong, every other Forum Guardian (I thought we had an army of it nowdays ?!?) is fine with all this ? Or are they just to shy to confront Fะฏ ? Or rule number one amongst Forum Guardians is to stick together no matter what ?

Yes please, let's get back to Fะฏ's ย practices please... so, apart from Harveyn who politely acknowledgedย that something was clearly wrong, every other Forum Guardian (I thought we had an army of it nowdays ?!?) is fine with all this ? Or are they just to shy to confront Fะฏ ? Or rule number one amongst Forum Guardians is to stick together no matter what ?
Even if I am not a guardian, I completely agree with you shootagsin. I am quite disgusted by what happened here.

Sandra Chevrier - Original on canvas, by lucky7 on Jun 24, 2015 17:03:32 GMT 1, This is one of the most authentic and transparent sales threads I have seen here. My point is NOT about the price achieved (I have no clue / interest on Chevrier prices) but purely to highlight the fact that he's been played by a MUCH more experienced forumite than him and coming from a Forum Guardian this is just intolerable in my books (sorry if I'm the only one feeling that way, but had to say it) My advice (not to end up an auction in the middle of a weekday morning with nobody around) still stands by the way, maybe not for dent (as he doesn't seem to care) but for other newbies here who we now know can easily be gamed by a Forum Guardian (!!!). Weldone Fะฏ, looks like your fan club is very pleased for you, rightly so ;-) I give you that : it was a genius trick of yours ... the fact that the newbie is applauding you for playing him must just be the cherry on the top ;-( Fair enough. I guess my problem is with having this debate here. Saying there was something wrong with the sale, is the same as the behavior being criticized (influence).
I also don't like this is being discussed after the thought. The OP stated his plans well in advanced, we shouldn't wait until it's all over to bring arguments. What is the real problem here? The fact that a certain person won the bid?
Now, I don't know all the facts. I might be wrong. For example, it would be nice to know if the final price is higher or lower that the highest original bid received through PM.
I like the fact that you clarified your point of view: your problem is not with the OP or the price achieved. I agree. There is something bigger going on here amongst people who know themselves better than I know all of them, so I don't want to meddle as I am not informed. I wish you continue debating and defending your point of view, but I don't think this thread is the place. You are an established member here and have a lot of experience. I respect that. Thus, I applaud your interest in trying to make this board run straight.

Dobson, Dreadnatty and Dappy have all either posted or liked posted on this thread. All very quiet now. Defo coming across as a boys club mentality with Forum Guardians at the moment, there have been worrying examples of this on previous threads so it doesn't surprise me that other FGs are trying to sweep this one under the carpet.. Harvyn thanks for adding your thoughts. Good to know that you disagree with FR, although it was a very carefully worded response.. Feel free to PM if you want to discuss.

Sandra Chevrier - Original on canvas, by 11 on Jun 24, 2015 17:32:14 GMT 1, As per Dread's post - if you have issue with my conduct then PM me
As with everything else, waiting till after the event just so you can cause trouble is poor form and sadly it seems those with real issue have no loyalty to this forum at all and are doing it purely to cause yet more disruption.
If this had all been raised in good time then i would have given it some serious consideration but seems to me designed purely as propaganda to serve some very personal agendas

Sandra Chevrier - Original on canvas, by russkov on Jun 24, 2015 17:45:22 GMT 1, Wow, I am just reading the last replies from FGs and I prefer not to undertsand why you would "solve" the issue via PM. If it is a forum, it may remain public. I totally back-up the point of view of Shootagain, the position and moves of Fะฏ were not transparent immediately, and certainly not reflect teh best advice for a newbie. Let's call things the way they are. Always interesting this way of calling a conflict of interest a good deal when you are on the good side of the deal. I just applause DENT who is honoring his word and his deal, alas I am far not sure however that he would reitereate the experience on this forum. A pity as he still has wonderful pieces of Chevrier that he may sell in the future.

Sandra Chevrier - Original on canvas, by cmodart on Jun 24, 2015 17:50:32 GMT 1, I do not think there is anything wrong with bids privately, or accepting bids publicly. It does seem that FR used his status as a guardian to bait / shame a new member into conducting an open bid for his own gain.
This is the inherent problem of having guardians. All of the sudden, their opinion becomes more valid than the community in the eyes of those that are most susceptible to influence. Any disagreement devolves into a bunfight.
I think anyone who got the presale invite to the nearly immediately sold-out JLG show would have been more on this piece. I would stop short of saying it was a steal, but there was a successful manipulation IMO
