Stik Sleeping Baby, by tab1 on Sept 7, 2015 19:50:30 GMT 1, I went there today and went to the cafe and I don't think they anticipate big crowds. I explained that they may just have a few people turn up on the day and I think she detected the irony in what I was saying. The guy who is organising wasn't there today, but my guess is this event will have to be ticketed in some way.
Dedication there Should of called , the art director is on hols back next week.. Personally at ยฃ500 and one per person I don't think crowds will be that big , the panic and fret caused on here might think it's a banksy release. Comparing to the foyles book launch is not just as they were only ยฃ20 each Stiks other event releases years ago were only ยฃ50 and ยฃ100 each Think the artist has judged his market right as all releases are around 100 in total . Later on a few aps and pps

That's a joke right?? If people queue overnight they should take advantage of their surroundings and get their head tested!
Great print. Great artist. But this is starting to get hyped to shit.

Stik Sleeping Baby, by jusdeep on Sept 8, 2015 11:39:46 GMT 1, Ironically I think there will be people sleeping overnight for this one It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Even at ยฃ500 it seems a reasonable price for such a large and limited/low edition print. Also a very popular image and for charity. No brainer if you don't mind a long and probably frustrating queue.

Stik Sleeping Baby, by Happy Shopper on Sept 8, 2015 11:54:28 GMT 1, I'm not the biggest Stik fan, but I can see the appeal of the standing figures. They have quite a lot of personality for such minimal drawings... and they look like kids' stick men. This though doesn't work in the same way at all. You'd have to know his work for it to make any sense, and it's nowhere near as iconic.

The only advantage this has over Diva/Walk/Single Mum is that it may be possible, if you can be in the right place at the right time, to procure one. This is, however, a very significant advantage, and may be enough, if I can find a way out of work, to draw me to Homerton. If I had one or more of those three, though, I think I'd be leaving this one alone.

Ever been to London or seen any of Stik's work in person? If you did maybe you might have a different view as a lot of it has a message relating to it's surrounding. I'm not aware either of any artist that does more for charity. Maybe Swoon?? But nevertheless Stik is yet again doing a release that will be 100% to benefit the local community, so he's hardly laughing to the bank and even if he has made a few quid it's thoroughly deserved. Never seen Punk'd (sic) but if it's MTV it's probably a load of...

Better question would be "Did someone who is calling themselves a serious "artist" actually dupe people into buying this". Like I said in another thread, this must be something Europeans are into like "Norwegians are into Whatson" because this is done millions times a day in schools from children all over the world. No one in there right mind would call this art and try to sell it here in the US.
The term "Starving artist" would be applied to this type artist who makes this type of art. I think this might do well in swap meets here in the US. AND YES, he is laughing his ass to the bank for selling "artwork" that children do on a daily basis and charging retarded prices for something that has no future value. The fact that the printing process takes longer then the actual art work is scary to say the least. You think his art has future value? How can his artistic ability progress if all he does is a stick figure either sleeping or standing. Maybe he adds more then one stick figure? WHOA watch out. The guy is def on his way to being one of the greats.

Davie boy - You might want to check out what Picasso said about children and art - something about him reaching the peak of his talents if he could replicate the art of a child. What Picasso meant was that children are so innocent that there form of art is the purest. That is what I get out of him saying that. I 100% doubt he meant lets draw stick figures and ponder over the in depth meaning of each image. That is like saying Picasso would of been Pro Scribble. Lets scribble on paper and call it art because a child did it and its so innocent. Do you consider art when people put One dot in the middle of paper and they call it art? I have this discussion with artists and they say its technically considered art but nothing they would ever buy. BTw, I am not arguing with anyone. This is all formally for discussion because I truly dont get the appeal.
