Why do people like Stik?, by Deleted on Jan 8, 2016 23:03:26 GMT 1, It was the coldest March on record for 90 years or so when Stik did the Big Issue print.
How many people who bought the big issue in March were influenced by the Stik poster or by the cold weather and their own social conscience is unknown in reality.
How many lives were saved because people bought the big issue is unknown too.
This is a good article interview with Stik.
Who according to the article does have a PR team.
London Art Spot: Stik Interview (Part 1)
"Stik strolled into the trendy Pitfield cafe down the street from his studio to meet me yesterday afternoon in his very paint-splattered clothes, but no mysterious hat or sunglasses covering his face. We ordered Earl Grey tea (his with soya) and he asked for a powdered croissant.
I waited while he chatted with his PR team and another journalist who wanted to set up an interview, Stik making notes in his already-full black diary."

Why do people like Stik?, by Deleted on Jan 8, 2016 23:08:05 GMT 1, Cover speaks for itself. "He's the next Banksy" --- LOL No hype there. I'm sure M&C Saatchi had nothing to do with the cover of the issue they "collaborated" on. I'm sure the art arm and the advertising arm of Saatchi never "collaborate" either. Don't know why you brought this back up, it's clear you won this debate earlier in the week. Carry on, mate. I think Saatchi did do the cover (article on the big issue website) and it was about Big Issue sellers.

I still think street art and the big issue are a good marriage. I'd love to see them do more art posters.

The Big Issue feature art by people who are or have been marginalised etc.

Why do people like Stik?, by Daniel Silk on Jan 9, 2016 10:33:22 GMT 1, Just looking for someone to shed some light as to why they love Stik art. His work fetches insane prices and I can't comprehend what the allure is...I wouldn't pay $5 for it.
Never really seen seen the attraction of Stik's work the impression I always got from when he first appeared that most of those hyping him up were only doing it coz his work was cheap and sometimes given away, meaning it became an easy flip. The style of his work is fine on the streets but would never make it onto my walls at home.

To show how poor the info you base your assumptions on is. But I see you still think it proved your point. But then you seem to think Stik designed or worded the cover too I guess.

Why do people like Stik?, by 11 on Jan 9, 2016 11:50:01 GMT 1, I would let it go tartarus - Shadynasty is so proud of himself and the anti UAA feeling they like to nurture in North Korea that he has even raised a thread proclaiming how great he is for coming here to troll and poach members.
This guy teaches kids!!
I think its pretty sad that those we consider friends applaud and champion this sort of behaviour. And clear that the only way that place can survive is by repeatedly coming back to try and incite people and poach our members. All very underhand but when it suits them they will try and ride the coattails of UAA again, playing the 'oh why won't UAA recognise us - they don't like other forums challenging them', 'its so childish' and 'room for everyone'.
Sadly this is a cycle as it seems most that join get fed-up of the bullshit and shady behaviour so come back - numbers fall away to virtually nothing and so another attack starts.
There is room for everyone that behaves with some decency - I think this episode puts to bed any expectation of UAA supporting them in anything they do anymore and any attempt to push their propaganda will just be seen as tolling
Anybody can come back, being honest and respectful with the rest of us is really all we ask.

ย OK, so be transparent.
ย How about explaining publicly why you say you are watching me.
ย Also post publicly who "we" are.
ย All of this seems to have come about from this Stik thread.
ย I have always had my own opinion and posted it.
I am not part of a clique and if my opinion coincides with other or others forum members posts or does not coincide with other member or members forum post then thats just too bad.
ย From what I have seen on here by some of the comments and responses some of you self appointed forum guardians need to grow up and realise that not everyone has the same view of aspects of art, teh art world, urban art, urban art works and stuff like that.
I have no idea who the f**k Json is or ShadyNasty.
ย ย I know who Saucyjack is only by his posts on this forum.
I do not give a f**k about any expresso beans or what happened on expresso beans.
ย What it does look like is that some on here maybe had an issue with some on another forum or in the past and because I have agreed with some of Saucy Jacks posts and poste don his threads an I can see through a certain amount of hype on here and selling technique. You have decided to have a go at me via having a go at another member.
ย I have only had one forum id and unlike some on here who jumped ship when a certain member PM's members on here in private to join a newly set up forum which is very similar to this one.
I am a member of only this forum.
ย I don't see the point of being a member of another forum discussing the same type of things.
ย It is evry easy to have loyalties to one forum against another forum.
To skip over to this forum and play a game of trying to disrupt this forum and put members off and also put off new members from joining.
ย ย ย ย ย A new artist posted their art and people posted GLWTS meaning good luck with that sale and
FR who has called me an "arse" on this forum poste GLWS means good luck with that s**t.
Some insults are ignored by forum guardians and one 11 who also posted I wa stalking out of my "arse"
ย So how about some of you guardians grow the f**k up and stop playing your petty schoolyard clique games on here.
Morons might buy some street art so don't mistake people for morons.
ย So to your post.
How about you writing publicly, why you are watching me.
ย and post publicly who we are.
ย Be careful with your games and be careful who you insult too.
This is a forum and don't expect everyone to feel the love for everything poste don here.
ย Personally I think the forum guardian idea was bad in the way some members who also seel quickly volunterred for the post and seem to be friends with certain members on here and guardians and against other members.
ย I think that Daniel Silk should review the situation and at least have short term forum guardians where the guardians are only guardians for a short amount of time, 3 or 6 months and new guardians appointed.
ย That will make this forum more attractive to new members.
ย So to your post.
How about you writing publicly, why you are watching me.

ย GTFU

As Grand Moff Tarkin once said, this bickering is pointless. Take it to the axe grinding thread.
Edit: Actually, I've changed my mind.

Stiks figures are fine and fine on walls outside as one small aspect of street art and gaffiti.
Some graffiti is interesting and works and other graffiti is an eyesore.
Stik figures are very user friendly.
The Baby that Stik did for the hospital I thought was perfect painted on teh wall and I doubt that there could have been a better logo for the hospital.
I don't care if Stik prints that people bought for a few quid have been re sold on flea bay for hundreds or ltd editions re sold for thousands.
Just as in bricks an morter auction houses no one knows if the buyer wa sreal or actually paid.
People who are convinced that because something fetches a high price on the secondary market means this is a mathematical model with a rising graph that if they now buy from some unknown person or gallery at the high price they have the equivelant of solid gold bars in their hands is very naive.
Stik as a person I admire his will and his willingless to help people.
I wonder what he would think of people who bought his hospital print and made a very big profit on re selling it rather than keeping it on their wall and who when they made the big profit gave not one penny from that profit to the hospital.
So in reality who are the real Stik fans ?

Why do people like Stik?, by Dr Plip on Jan 9, 2016 13:37:45 GMT 1, Never really seen seen the attraction of Stik's work the impression I always got from when he first appeared that most of those hyping him up were only doing it coz his work was cheap and sometimes given away, meaning it became an easy flip. The style of his work is fine on the streets but would never make it onto my walls at home. I see the art separate from the person who makes the art. There's no Litmus test for Stik fans. But they probably have a print/poster on the wall or a book to read through. Also, look for the people that smile when they walk past one of his street works.

Why do people like Stik?, by Deleted on Jan 9, 2016 13:45:30 GMT 1, Can we lock this thread or at least keep to the point? Free speech is one thing, but this is silly.
As Grand Moff Tarkin once said, this bickering is pointless. Take it to the axe grinding thread.
Edit: Actually, I've changed my mind. No way lock this thread.
I want OTTOMATIK7 to reply to publicly my question.

Why do people like Stik?, by Dr Plip on Jan 9, 2016 13:52:13 GMT 1, With regards to @elviswarhol being watched by the security service, while I don't often agree with Ploppi, as far as I know, he's always been transparent and honest on here. And in my mind, he's never engaged in any multiple account shenanigans. He doesn't sugar coat his words and you might not agree or like his opinion, but you can always choose to disagree, ignore him, block him or tell him to f**k off.

I would not advise telling anyone to fuck off on here, it leads to being banned, and having to fuck about with proxies and new names.
I laugh inanely and point at the screen when I don't agree with people, calling them stupid, and how can they be sooo wrong, I do occasionally tut too
Thankyou

I don't mind being insulted as long as the same people have the integrity to respond publicly to questions.
Some on here jseem to insult and run.
It's called baiting where they hope for a a negative response so they can get a cronie to ban someone or mail someone in private in order to achieve that;
Not very mature I know but there could be many reasons for that.

Why do people like Stik?, by Fะฏ on Jan 9, 2016 14:15:20 GMT 1, Aren't you babbtke that was banned from EBeans? You need to slow your roll. We ARE watching you. As well as ShadyNasty.... And ploppii, Json... Just to be 'transparent.' OK, so be transparent. How about explaining publicly why you say you are watching me. Also post publicly who "we" are. All of this seems to have come about from this Stik thread. I have always had my own opinion and posted it. I am not part of a clique and if my opinion coincides with other or others forum members posts or does not coincide with other member or members forum post then thats just too bad. From what I have seen on here by some of the comments and responses some of you self appointed forum guardians need to grow up and realise that not everyone has the same view of aspects of art, teh art world, urban art, urban art works and stuff like that. I have no idea who the f**k Json is or ShadyNasty. I know who Saucyjack is only by his posts on this forum. I do not give a f**k about any expresso beans or what happened on expresso beans. What it does look like is that some on here maybe had an issue with some on another forum or in the past and because I have agreed with some of Saucy Jacks posts and poste don his threads an I can see through a certain amount of hype on here and selling technique. You have decided to have a go at me via having a go at another member. I have only had one forum id and unlike some on here who jumped ship when a certain member PM's members on here in private to join a newly set up forum which is very similar to this one. I am a member of only this forum. I don't see the point of being a member of another forum discussing the same type of things. It is evry easy to have loyalties to one forum against another forum. To skip over to this forum and play a game of trying to disrupt this forum and put members off and also put off new members from joining. A new artist posted their art and people posted GLWTS meaning good luck with that sale and FR who has called me an "arse" on this forum poste GLWS means good luck with that s**t. Some insults are ignored by forum guardians and one 11 who also posted I wa stalking out of my "arse" So how about some of you guardians grow the f**k up and stop playing your petty schoolyard clique games on here. Morons might buy some street art so don't mistake people for morons. So to your post. How about you writing publicly, why you are watching me. and post publicly who we are. Be careful with your games and be careful who you insult too. This is a forum and don't expect everyone to feel the love for everything poste don here. Personally I think the forum guardian idea was bad in the way some members who also seel quickly volunterred for the post and seem to be friends with certain members on here and guardians and against other members. I think that Daniel Silk should review the situation and at least have short term forum guardians where the guardians are only guardians for a short amount of time, 3 or 6 months and new guardians appointed. That will make this forum more attractive to new members. So to your post. How about you writing publicly, why you are watching me. and post publicly who we are. GTFU that means grow the f**k up.
Parp.

Why do people like Stik?, by Dr Plip on Jan 9, 2016 14:21:01 GMT 1, Because of Stik's work with The Big Issue, I actually had to talk to the vendors. Like properly talk to them. Before that, I would have usually paid them and then scurried away.
I met a large Scotsman that has been living in a local car park for 5 years. He had the dermatitis to go with it unfortunately. And knowing how it bugged me, whenever I saw him after that, whether I was buying or not, he would insist on shaking my hand. He kept saying how he had a plan to go south, where it was warmer. I haven't seen him for about a year. I hope he's ok wherever he is.
I also met a lovely Romanian lady. She insists on kissing me whenever I see her. I sometimes buy her a coffee and always seem to manage to mess up her order. She's really polite about it though. I now know a few words in Romanian. What I think is "Hello, how are you today?" is probably in reality "You idiot, why have you given me 3 sugars again?"
One guy, I passed for years. Turns out he's from California. He came here to marry his partner. But then the marriage broke down, and with no family or friends in the US to help him, he's been here for about 15 years.
These are real people. We all have hopes, fears, needs, problems, etc. I hate people at the best of times. But that's one of my problems. Stik and that silly "collect all the colours" thing made me talk to people I wouldn't normally want to. And because of that, I think of them as people now. And they insist on touching me. I think it's good, even healthy to make contact with people. To acknowledge that we're all the same. I think it's vital to learn about others. leave a mark on others. Admittedly hopefully a positive mark.
Sounds really f**king daft, but it's how I feel.
Many of us are just a couple of bad decisions, an accident or poor mental health period away from being on the street or in need of assistance from others.
Anyway, that's one of the reasons why I like Stik. That and I bought a new house from selling all those Big Issue posters (joke).
EDIT: I sound like a f**king tool with this post, but it is what it is.
