Eelus 3D Lenticular "Not Everything Is So Black & White", by tranito on Apr 3, 2016 15:27:23 GMT 1, Is it just me or do you end up staring at the moving rainbow rain colours rather than absorbing (pun) the whole image..... as a whole...... Thus deeming the whole image lost by itself....... I think I'm making a point here, possibly a valid one. Just saying. Edit: drawn to the novelty.
More of an issue with the rain changing color variant, but if you happen to look at it standing still, like you'd do anyway with any other art piece on your wall or the 1st ed. for that matter, you got your problem solved.

I can see others following suit in a big way, Ben Eine perhaps I'm sure some of his stuff (or new stuff) would look well on this medium.

By the looks of it the quality is good and the image still grabs a lot of attention. I wanna see what it will be down the road! will the hype turn into value or it will just go away and we will be able to pick this up at cost.

When the technique/medium is different, it seems more common to call them lenticular ed, lithograph ed. or whatever they are ed. Then you know exactly what it refers to.

the value of this edition will closely follow the 1st edition. It will be the cheaper alternative for people who want the image on their walls.

I like lenticuar prints when they are cheesy and kitch. Saw one on fleabay with sharks and geckos and twenty bucks.
Other artists have made lenticulars from Peter Blake to Fairey and Ron English.
For the same price as a huge flat screen TV. If I was investing in a lenticular I would have a look at what is out there and available by different artists and choose one which I like the image.
I still think the screenprint version will be more valuable in the long run.

It has much more depth and definitely has the wow factor. I don't necessarily think all lenticular prints work (the Damien Hirst skull for example doesn't work for me) but this image really pops. I've still got one too somewhere! Was my pride and joy. Having said that and call me old fashioned but I like my art not to move. It would unnerve me too much in the mornings. Fair play to those who like it tho.

This release didn't turn out as bad as I thought it would of. Or maybe the anti hype was making me feel like this wouldn't be a good print to have!

VariView coined the name "lenticular" to describe their liner images, "Winkies" to describe their popular blinking eyes, and "Magic-Motion" to describe any lenticular image containing motion. Quite the craze in the 40's and 50's, from campaign buttons to prizes in Cracker Jack. While I tend to agree with Coach as to the twee aspect the original seems cherished and valuable. It seems like the "umbrella" is another trope, that was my thought when this release was first available. Yes, Renoir did it early, as did Magritte...and the father of much of this Banksy turned it inside out. The Beatles made it amusing in the Eleanor Rigby scene from Yellow Submarine. An umbrella put Rhianna on the map. Allowing for Eelus to utilize said trope, one would hope any aspiring urban artist would put the umbrella away. Just a thought for conversation.
