Eelus 3D Lenticular "Not Everything Is So Black & White", by Dungle on Mar 21, 2016 20:39:37 GMT 1, If people keep on buying it then he will keep on making it. And who can blame him. A quick way to make 100k. Would you sell your integrity for 100k?ย The whole premise of this business is that the editions are limited.ย Sure it's a slightly different format, but it's the same image and he essentially just doubled the existing edition.ย
I do every day.

The people who have this print and love the image more then the monetary value wouldnt really care.
Honestly is there another reason?

Granted I guess there are ways to read that sentence in which series and releases (plural) refer to the variations of the NEISBW lenticular...

Guess you just care about the $$$$$ยฃยฃยฃยฃยฃโฌโฌโฌโฌโฌ

That's bullsh1t, if artists wanted to make as many of an image people love, then they can sell an open edition. Theres a big difference between an open edition and a half dozen limited editions of the same print just because it looks like you can make some extra money all of the sudden

Eelus 3D Lenticular "Not Everything Is So Black & White", by Daniel Silk on Mar 21, 2016 23:12:27 GMT 1, I think maybe most popular Artists get to a point when they look back at their past work and regret the small edition size of a few pieces that turned out to be their most famous and iconic. So I can see why it must be tempting to release more versions of older work.

An additional thought might be that they see what they got for their work and idea and what resellers get for it now - which might be a bad feeling. If you paid a lot on the secondary market because you love the image of course that hurts badly, too.

Eelus 3D Lenticular "Not Everything Is So Black & White", by Daniel Silk on Mar 22, 2016 0:08:15 GMT 1, Also in the past maybe the artist didn't have the option to produce a 3D release like this, but wanted to? Due to projected demand back then maybe he decided against it, but now it makes economic sense and looks like it will sell ok.

Eelus 3D Lenticular "Not Everything Is So Black & White", by thisisit on Mar 22, 2016 1:51:00 GMT 1, I completely understand the frustration some of you are having about this. Especially if you dropped big money on it.
But I really believe that 100 more copies of the same print, which was released on a different year in a different format, will probably not affect the price of the first print.
See this as further exposure of this artwork...
If the artist is worth it, these will keep 100% of the value. It will not depend on weather he drops 100 more lenticulars for each of his editions.
Personally I do not own the first print and I will not drop ยฃ1000 for this. But I think its worth it as I'm really apreciating Eelus graphics lately.

To me, although the same foundational image this is a completely different print. I personally don't own the original but would not be going after the 3D image. The 3D just seems a bit gimmicky for my taste..again just personal preference.
Really like the original print image and would absolutely love to have one on my wall someday. More than likely I am naive here but I don't understand how releasing a print using and entirely different medium should affect the value of the original(s).

Eelus 3D Lenticular "Not Everything Is So Black & White", by Viking Surfer on Mar 22, 2016 3:13:36 GMT 1, seriously fuk this guy. what a clown. yes i own the original and paid up for it, but i didnt realize it was his schtik at the time to just keep making the same image available. i had a taste of his methods once atr came out and the ensuing pp nonsense that this guy wasnt loaded with integrity. and then when that terrible WTNFU came out it was just more of the same. originally ATR was touted the "companion" and then WTNFU was billed as if it was always a "trilogy". in 5 years will it be two old people on their deathbed with rainbow streaks coming out of their chests to complete the "quad" i still love the original but just make a new good print instead of keep releasing the same image. poor poor taste and obviously only trying to pump as much money out of the cow as possible. Do any other artists use it?? (excuse my lack of knowledge!!) I would want to see it in the flesh first Yaacov Agam is a big time user of the lenticular lens. Has done for decades, see 'Agamograph'.
Pretty sure he was one of the founders of kinetic art. MOMA Paris had a whole room dedicated to him and they've just built him a museum in Israel.

Eelus 3D Lenticular "Not Everything Is So Black & White", by Dice on Mar 22, 2016 8:34:56 GMT 1, Peter Blake released lenticulars of his most popular Paris Eiffel Tower print. That print is still worth a bomb and the lenticulars are worth a pretty penny too. I passed on the print stupidly when it was ยฃ950 so was glad to buy a small lenticular on release. The print will always be the best though and it's value was not affected by the new releases.
