The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by seba on Jun 11, 2016 1:56:59 GMT 1, I didn't want get involved in this discussion at first and I' m sorry for bringing the topic back up. But as I just saw the video posted by iamzero in the afternoon, I want to confirm that the video + that description is indeed deliberately misleading racist propaganda and in my opinion it should be deleted. The video shows violence that occurred at demonstrations between Kurds and Turkish nationalists in Bern/Switzerland (actually not even part of the EU) on the 12th of September 2015. It's clearly a political and not religious context. It' s horrible but has nothing to do with the description and there is different media coverage about the actual incidents and backround. Anyway, coming back to the topic. I believe that the UK should remain in the EU, but only if there are certain border restrictions. At international football tournaments and summer holidays the borders definately must be shut for British citizens. I saw a few videos of their behavior on the internet and know what I'm talking about. I must admit that I'm from Germany, well known for it's ongoing peaceful history and we only have these things called violence and crime since last year when refugees came, so this point is important to me.
Sorry for my sarcasm and spelling mistakes, it's friday night. Peace everyone! Have a nice weekend!

Very poor show banksy forum, very poor show. I'm sorry that I'm posting again but this sort of issue is important to me. I have to add that I completely understand your point of view though I'm of slightly different opinion. Due to iamzero posting the video and massive thanks to seba we all now know about the true events occuring in this horrible video, that it was indeed taken out of context as expected, and that it is nothing but a horrible lie. Didn't we prove exactly that is was only nothing but misleading racist propaganda of the worst kind even to those wondering?
As many reseraches have shown rasicem oh so often occures where there is a lac of information combined with a disability to consider of the given situation. By avoiding the issue misleading racist propaganda can simply spread within those who don't know better. Therefore I think it's good that even such unpleasant issues are discussed on this forim...in the politics section. One certainly could argue that this sort of stuff should not be discussed on an art forum, well then there should be no politics sections. I personally value that this place gives room to other aspects of life than art even if it means going to very unpleasant issues at times.

I fear this sort of material is used by ppl with no real affinity for the truth, so spreading its evil intent whilst for a group willing to learn is worthwhile it's used by many others for the worst of reasons, I would say that was a certain users intent.

Thanks for giving me more insight to your opinion. That's makes sense to me and I might be simply believing too much in the good in people. However I hope that I'm not completely mistaken with my opinion that we might have gotten more people away from racism than towards it with this discussion. In the end those spreding this sort of evil aim for those who don't know better. However I can see that picking up the issue might have been a mistake now...though my experiences and opinions would say differently.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by iamzero on Jun 11, 2016 8:54:07 GMT 1, I'm glad Seba has listed the truth behind this video. This stuff needs to be called out as misleading propaganda by the media so public can make informed judgements about what's going and not believe that refugees are attacking innocent people. People are being swayed by seeing things like this. As for some members deluded posts about me you should be ashamed, at no point have I defended or promoted these videos as truth but merely brought it to people's attention as to why the British public might want to leave the EU. I also don't believe that there are many true racist people in the UK. There are many ignorant and frustrated people that are choosing to blame minority's for their own failings and the failings of people in power but branding that as simply racist and shouting people down for asking questions doesn't help. kunstrasen and seba I applaud you for both keeping this on an adult level where things are debated and and questions answered and not for resorting to low level name calling.

You have a responsibility to the truth not to post any bs you find online promoting your world view - end of.
You should be ashamed of yourself quite frankly .

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by iamzero on Jun 11, 2016 9:25:56 GMT 1, But how is the truth discovered if you don't see thing like this? By posting the video we've revealed the lies behind it? If you're teaching a young child not to do something you don't simply shout NO at them, it's not constructive. You explain why no. It's a factual debate and that can't be achieved without all the evidence surely?

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by iamzero on Jun 11, 2016 9:41:02 GMT 1, Just to drag things to a less sensitive level I was out with friend of mine last night that deals in very expensive cars to very rich people. One of them he dealt with this week owns a reasonably large supermarket chain and apparently he sat in on meeting this week to discuss business and they had a blind vote on leaving or staying. The outcome was a straight 50/50 result. Sounds to me like even the well educated can't even decide what is best.

You're not really fooling anyone. I'm confident in my opinion behind the reasons you posted that particular video on a thread discussing the EU referendum, and it certainly wasn't with regards to finding out the "truth". That video has been spread by right wing hate groups for over a year. Not sure what website you visited to find it but it should have no place on here.

My Aunts friend who owns a launderette overheard a Scotish women saying her husband wants to leave whilst his mate wants to stay. Seems that Scottish people can't even decide what's best ;-)
Funny stuff, really.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by iamzero on Jun 11, 2016 10:21:27 GMT 1, The video has a place due to transparency and finding the truth behind its propaganda. It has a place because it creates discussion. It has a place because it's things like this that are pushing voters into wanting to leave the EU. It was posted to make people see want is being portrayed as truth. The video doesn't auto play. You are not forced to watch it. We cannot make informed decisions if we don't acknowledge the evidence and the evidence doesn't go away if we simply ignore it. I didn't search for this video, it's is things like this that people are sharing on facetwat without questioning the validity. And maybe the reason they don't ask the question is because they get shouted down in the name of rascism. If you were the intelligent and tolerant person you portray then perhaps you would've researched the video to find out that it was indeed misleading, presented the facts and then explained things instead of hurling unfounded accusations and insults. Another member did this and showed why forums are a place where we can ask awkward questions. You assume to know my history, my background and my thoughts based on a few posts on an art forum. Making sweeping defamatory allegations without really knowing anything. That, my vacuous little friend makes you no better than someone who really does judge someone by the colour of their skin. I like to judge people on whether they are a dick or not and treat them accordingly. Thank you and good day.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Daniel Silk on Jun 11, 2016 12:19:28 GMT 1,
"When the Remain campaign tells us no-one will trade with us if we leave the EU, sorry, it's absolute cobblers. Our trade imbalance with Europe is running at ยฃ9bn a month and rising. If this trend continues, that is ยฃ100bn a year."
Sir James argued that if, after a vote to leave, the EU imposed a 10% tariff on UK goods, Britain would do the same on imported EU goods. He said that because Britain imported far more from the EU than it exported there, it would bring in an extra ยฃ10bn a year for the UK. The entrepreneur, who is worth over ยฃ3bn, also criticised the EU's free movement for not allowing the talented staff he needed to work in the UK.
"We're not allowed to employ them, unless they're from the EU," he said. "At the moment, if we want to hire a foreign engineer, it takes four-and-a-half months to go through the Home Office procedure. It's crazy. "Why on earth would you chuck out researchers with that valuable technology which they then take back to China or Singapore and use it against us?"

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Deleted on Jun 11, 2016 12:33:18 GMT 1, The video of Kurds attacking Turks or vice versa shows clearly how racist towards each other these people can be. Plus anyone who feels that because someone is a so called ethnic minority they deserve special treatment or excused is either naive or racist themselves towards the people of the country that these migrants have arrived in.
Ethnicity and skin color makes no difference to me. These people are smart enough to travel through many countries and demand their rights in European countries so are smart enough to know the law of the country they move to and abide by that countries laws.
If people move to a country for benefits and money and insult that countrys laws or abuse them whilst following the doctrine of another country. Then as far as i'm concerned they don't deserve to be there.
Yes luvvies, racism works both ways. Have people lost their pride so much that they blame the victims for being attacked by people who are mysoginsts and racists?
People are people and there should be one law for all.
Religion and religious law should not take priority over a countries secular laws.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by nex on Jun 11, 2016 12:59:23 GMT 1, The video of Kurds attacking Turks or vice versa shows clearly how racist towards each other these people can be. This response bares no connection nor merit to the reason why the video should not have been posted.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Deleted on Jun 11, 2016 16:23:43 GMT 1, "We're not allowed to employ them, unless they're from the EU," he said. "At the moment, if we want to hire a foreign engineer, it takes four-and-a-half months to go through the Home Office procedure. It's crazy. "Why on earth would you chuck out researchers with that valuable technology which they then take back to China or Singapore and use it against us?" 'Absolute cobblers' to use Dyson's phrase. It's not the EU's fault, it's this Govts inability to control immigration. And it is one of the reason curry houses are struggling to recruit chefs. Nothing to do with the EU, more this Govt. And it's not going to change by giving more buffoons more power.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Deleted on Jun 11, 2016 19:12:36 GMT 1, That's not a case for Brexit, it's an analysis of where the EU is. I don't think anyone who's pro-EU thinks it's perfect - it's not. But running away won't help.

They want to be able to import chefs from their country of origin and use the excuse that they can't get chefs. They would if they offered the normal wage. Why should a curry house discriminate?

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Deleted on Jun 11, 2016 21:07:09 GMT 1, "When the Remain campaign tells us no-one will trade with us if we leave the EU, sorry, it's absolute cobblers. Our trade imbalance with Europe is running at ยฃ9bn a month and rising. If this trend continues, that is ยฃ100bn a year." Sir James argued that if, after a vote to leave, the EU imposed a 10% tariff on UK goods, Britain would do the same on imported EU goods. It's crazy. I think they are expensive. I stood in front of one of his fans and to be honest prefer the old style ones with the propellor.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Matt on Jun 11, 2016 21:31:45 GMT 1, More importantly what Dyson fails to point outis that if when you impose 10% duty on imports, cost of living increases.
Of course you can retaliate if it makes you feel better, Dysons and Custard cream will be more expensive for the Germans...yeah your purchasing power went down but hey you showed'em
On this one Dyson is full of s**t and he knows it. But it appeals to the feeble minded who vote against their interest and it will help him hire cheaper workforce...so of course he loves the idea

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Deleted on Jun 11, 2016 21:38:07 GMT 1, One thing that happens down here in the supermarkets is when the tourist season starts, all the supermarkets hike the prices of fizzy drinks and ice cream and fruit etc etc etc to profit from the tourists and the locals have to pay the higher prices too.
Plus English cheddar if you can find it ever is three times the price of similar French cheese. I don't think the UK supplier hikes the price.

Quaint story. Tough life for tourists on the riviera (I assume, maybe wrongly, that you are talking about the south of France...)

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by iamzero on Jun 12, 2016 14:50:06 GMT 1, Is that the same as Hilary Clintons $5k outfit she made a speech in? I loves a bit of champagne socialism. I would love this picture to be true though... Biggie JC bouncing down the road to a bit of gangsta rap.
