David Bowie RIP, by peted on Jan 11, 2016 22:54:41 GMT 1, There will never be another like him of that you can be assured! I only got to see him live just the once at Milton Keynes Bowl - The Serious Moonlight Tour in the early 80s but spent most of the evening throwing my guts up from sun exposure - it was a hot one! And bloody sore!

David Bowie RIP, by misterx on Jan 12, 2016 5:20:20 GMT 1, I have received emails today of people selling David Bowie prints . I find this in incredibly poor taste trying to capitalise on the death of a legend. Rip I understand this point of view but I think many people have just become too politically correct. When musicians die people automatically go to iTunes or any retailer and buy their music. Just look at Motorhead last week who had NEVER been on any music chart and suddenly they are. I also had about 5 emails from LP retailers and those I have mixed feelings about, but then I did buy Blackstar last week and have been listening to it - maybe today a bit differently. I have had two emails about Bowie art today and one was actually nice but Global Art Traders was the one that was too much for me and you can always do what I did... UNSUBSCRIBE. Not worth the complaint and any business should be tracking this and be aware that they seem desperate. Motorhead NEVER made any music charts?? Thats just plain wrong....
I remember as a kid growing up in Bolton in the mid seventies we had a lad called Gary Cresswell in our street that was clearly ahead of his contemporaries. I remember he was always being ridiculed for his look. Even my mom, who wasn't one to point finger, used to talk to my dad about Cresswell's dyed orange hair and his dash of eyeliner here or there. Back then this was pretty taboo . I remember staring at him as he used to walk down the road, carrying his LP's, thinking wtf...
He often got beat up.
I now know Gary Cresswell was the only person in Bolton dressing, as well as supporting, the Glam Rock Movement.
Don't know what happened to him, but God Bless him for opening my eyes to a world out there I had no idea existed back in the seventies...all thanks to Mr. Bowie.
Yesterday I was reading the RollingStones piece by Sean Penn.In it he references the film The Falcon And The Snowman. I immediately began to hum This Is Not America, the theme tune sung by DB... An hour later I heard he had died peacefully.
I'll leave it at that....

It's always very sad when talented people die young or throw their lives away.
Elvis and the others victims of their fame who lost their real friends and got surrounded by an entourage of hangers on parasites and drug pushers to control them.
David Bowie had a few overdoses in the 1970's.
He liked too much cocaine.
The good news is that listening to his Blackstar and the words.
He is coming back.

David Bowie RIP, by settingson on Jan 12, 2016 15:48:11 GMT 1, To be fair they were up yesterday and I am guessing that they were aimed more for launch at the release of the Blackstar album rather than his death. He didn't push them on his facebook page, just posted up a couple of originals he had done.

I will however reserve judgment until he posts about the release. On the surface it feels pretty tasteless if you ask me. It reminds me of the time that guy Kenny Random released a Dface inspired Steve Jobs print the day after he died. Cashing in on people's emotional distress over the loss of their heroes is no way to make art. I'd expect this from brainwash (or kenny random as he's already done this). I know a lot of artists are paying tribute,Bast one is phenomenal as is the Fiale tribute. And rightfully so. Bowie's creativity was limitless and he inspired probably the widest audience known to man but creating a multi-colored print run out of it is a whole another story imo.

I just noticed on Instagram that he posted an image of the original 2 weeks ago and announced it would be the next print... because he was excited about the new album. All done with the best of intensions, but still feels a bit wrong to release it so soon after his death (Unless some proceeds are going to charity or something like that) !?

David Bowie RIP, by Lroy on Jan 12, 2016 16:27:11 GMT 1, erm.. Really... Nothing..
I had this newspaper and I sold it decades ago for 1 or 2 Francs ! I had an amamazing collection of vinyl ( I have still the duo with Bing Crosby/heroes etc... ) , bootlegs, badges, large unknowns shots of photos of studio , press shots and programms, etc etc... And unfortunately, I sold most of them to second hand shops, these robber bastards . I don't regret because David is dead, I will always regret to have sold them.. I loved Bowie.

Agree. I think the print edition would have looked much better if he made the eyes different colors like the original. Original:

David Bowie RIP, by daniel3886 on Jan 12, 2016 17:11:10 GMT 1, I happened to be collecting a print from a printers in east London yesterday (he prints for Charlie) he showed me a rack of almost completed Bowie nightmare prints this was 9.30am. They had clearly been working on the project for some time so I don't feel they should be held in the same category as ambulance chasing sales e-mails.
