David Bowie RIP, by Deleted on Jan 16, 2016 12:01:08 GMT 1, "[CHORUS] There's a starman waiting in the sky He'd like to come and meet us But he thinks he'd blow our minds There's a starman waiting in the sky He's told us not to blow it Cause he knows it's all worthwhile He told me: Let the children lose it Let the children use it Let all the children boogie
I had to phone someone so I picked on you Hey, that's far out so you heard him too! Switch on the TV we may pick him up on channel two Look out your window I can see his light
If we can sparkle he may land tonight Don't tell your poppa or he'll get us locked up in fright"

I'm sure a few people on here will recognise who this is, as a very young man. Is that Shepard Fairey, lol I almost thought it was a chic. I was listening to Jonesie's JukeBox today on a local radio station in LA hosted by non other than Steve Jones and his guest today was Shepard Fairey. A Great new show for a couple of hours during lunch. It's on 95.5 KLOS and I'm sure you can hear it on the internet for those interested. Had I seen this earlier I would have called the station and given him a rash of s**t reminding him of this pic. The Bowie shirt is cool though. Actually, I probably have a few unflattering pics of myself as I'm sure we all do. Hey, that sounds like a great thread " Show Us Your Most Unflattering Personal Picture" what do ya think Coach?

David Bowie RIP, by kultur on Jan 23, 2016 5:09:43 GMT 1, I understand this point of view but I think many people have just become too politically correct. When musicians die people automatically go to iTunes or any retailer and buy their music. Just look at Motorhead last week who had NEVER been on any music chart and suddenly they are. I also had about 5 emails from LP retailers and those I have mixed feelings about, but then I did buy Blackstar last week and have been listening to it - maybe today a bit differently. I have had two emails about Bowie art today and one was actually nice but Global Art Traders was the one that was too much for me and you can always do what I did... UNSUBSCRIBE. Not worth the complaint and any business should be tracking this and be aware that they seem desperate. Motorhead NEVER made any music charts?? Thats just plain wrong.... I remember as a kid growing up in Bolton in the mid seventies we had a lad called Gary Cresswell in our street that was clearly ahead of his contemporaries. I remember he was always being ridiculed for his look. Even my mom, who wasn't one to point finger, used to talk to my dad about Cresswell's dyed orange hair and his dash of eyeliner here or there. Back then this was pretty taboo . I remember staring at him as he used to walk down the road, carrying his LP's, thinking wtf... He often got beat up. I now know Gary Cresswell was the only person in Bolton dressing, as well as supporting, the Glam Rock Movement. Don't know what happened to him, but God Bless him for opening my eyes to a world out there I had no idea existed back in the seventies...all thanks to Mr. Bowie. Yesterday I was reading the RollingStones piece by Sean Penn.In it he references the film The Falcon And The Snowman. I immediately began to hum This Is Not America, the theme tune sung by DB... An hour later I heard he had died peacefully. I'll leave it at that.... David Bowie music sales go up by over 5000% www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6844226/david-bowie-us-music-sales-increase-death
David Bowie gets his first #1 album Blackstar www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6844036/david-bowie-blackstar-album-debuts-no-1-on-billboard-200-charts

David Bowie RIP, by Deleted on Jan 25, 2016 13:14:20 GMT 1, Nice to see street artists doing real street art without their PR rep tweeting out their controversial one sided political views Why do you think Banksy's views, on the use of GAS by a government to contol people, are controversial? I would guess that most people, like Banksy, find it abhorrent - especially in Europe. An educated guess would be, that no matter that you're a "Street art" and "Banksy" fan and have been exposed to 1000's and 1000's of images propagating a socialist, community based, empathic art form, that this doesn't come close to the years and years of capitalist indoctrination that your average American is exposed to through the education system, family preferences, advertising, news channels and peer groups. That whilst you may occasionally suffer from cognitive dissonance when attempting to match your personal values to those of street art in general, you can at least always fall back on its "commercial" worth, a truly individualistic and capitalist ideology and sadly, the default setting of your average Republican.

When the truth is that some people do not want to integrate and live in harmony and when one mentions stuff like the Cologne attacks by migrants against women on new years eve. Everyone refuses to respond or acknowledge the fact because they are brainwashed that it's all the white mans fault anyway.
The womens fault for dressing normally, the womens fault for wearing perfue, the womens fault for being western women. The governments fault for not handing out money and free housing fast enough to the migrants.
I can see the complaints if someone stencilled a woman in a mini skirt on a wall opposite a mosque though.

Yawn, you seem to be nothing but a very ignorant, bitter, xenophobic, attention seeking, failed artist. Your contribution to this community is to fill it with bitterness and bile. Constantly bleating into the wind about how unfair life has been to him compared to others. It may have been a bit "rock n roll" in the 70's, and though i'm a firm proponent of the adage that we should "grow old not up", in your case, I'd make an exception and urge you to take a step back and refrain from spreading your misery around like the verbal slurry it is.
peace

Thats something people should be aware of when people say capitalism is bad and all this socialist stuff is great is that the people promting this are often raking in the money whilst preaching to others. You didn't answer my post a while back as to how you spend the 150K funding for the Nuart Festival and how artists are selected and paid and whether you sell or promte any of the artists art yourself too. Maybe I don't fall for the hype thats all.
Who is indoctrinating who in reality. People telling Americans their system is bad capitalism is bad whilst hiding behind a socialist badge.
Or artists who make art for fun and cos they enjoy art for arts sake?

David Bowie RIP, by razorwire on Feb 16, 2016 12:51:58 GMT 1, There's a timed release John Keaveney "Ziggy" Charity Print available at Bottleneck for a few more hours for $35 plus post. Giclee print 16 x 16 inches Numbered timed edition on sale through 11:59pm est. *All proceeds go to Cancer Research UK www.bottleneckgallery.com/products/john-keaveney-ziggy-charity-printIf anyone if the UK misses out and wants one at cost let me know as it looks like I've ended up with a spare. Just a quick bump as this arrived today. As mentioned above I have ended up with a spare so does anyone in the UK want it at cost price before I offer it elsewhere?
