Should make things simpler if it comes to divorce - you've already hidden your assets!

It was the choice between going on vacation or buy this original Herman Brood canvas called Test Pilot Blues. Quite an expense at the time, but still one of my favourite piece by him.
Amazing person too - RIP.

What was your first ever Art Purchase?, by pr.yu on Aug 7, 2017 3:46:26 GMT 1, Gonna post two here. The first is a canvas I bought ~2011. Walked into the gym every day and loved it on the wall there. Turns out it was an original canvas by the woman who worked behind the counter. I bought it from her and hung it up. No idea who she was, but it's titled Candy Pop Rocks in the bottom right. Still makes me smile (despite my wife thinking it's ridiculous).
<a href="http://ibb.co/kod2ba"><img src="http://preview.ibb.co/mLEawa/20170806_223612.jpg" alt="20170806_223612" border="0"></a>
The second was the first serious buy I made. Bought this Miro etching and aquatint for my wife for our first anniversary (paper). Got into urban art much later, but I look at it now and it reminds me a bit of Stik (though the etching was made before Stik or I were even born).

What was your first ever Art Purchase?, by newmang on Aug 7, 2017 15:06:55 GMT 1, I bought an unsigned Girl With Balloon from a shop in Bristol for about ยฃ80 for my newly decorated living room. Got it out of the tube and the paper colour clashed with the wall colour in the room, so it went back in the in the tube and was promptly forgotten about for years. Sadly had to let it go a few years a go

Met Harland Miller in LA. I couldn't believe he walked into my workplace. We chatted, we are from similar geographic location - he gave me a great deal on my first art purchase. HF diptych set Fuck Art/Fuck dancing. I still smile everytime I wake up and see it in my bedroom. (Alone).

Assume you are aware of Alphonse Mucha? If you are, forgive me for teaching you to suck eggs (there's always a risk members get upset at this, for some unfathomable reason). On the off chance that you are not, you might like to look at his work, as this piece is very much of his ilk.

My first real art buy was this piece by Ten Hundred that I picked up a few years ago in Seattle. Happy to say that it's still on my wall.

Stopped in a hotel where they had loads of art up from local artists and loved the Mr Jago's they had up. Not my favourite piece he's done but picked up an AP of Bring it down. On the hunt for a couple more when the budget allows!

LV Child by Beejoir caught my eye immediately. Without me knowing he contacted Beejoir, two weeks later a package from Thailand arrived and the obsession began. Still my favorite piece.

What was your first ever Art Purchase?, by Daniel Silk on Mar 5, 2021 5:01:28 GMT 1, Yes I still have it in my collection.
What was the very first piece of Art that you ever Bought? My my very first was this In 2003 I got it from Art Republic in Brighton, days before the rest of the edition was destroyed by the Royal Mail. I read that Art Republic sold maybe only 10 from the total edition of 450, so it was 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 150 each, and only 10 were sold. I was lucky enough to be there at the right time and got the 1st class and numbered 1/150, signed James Cauty. I was taking part in the London to Brighton Mini run, and I just managed to squeeze this in through the roll cage and into the back of the Mini to get it home I remember it well, it had about an inch to spare coz getting it in through the door was tricky with a full roll cage including door bars and angled bar across the back seat area. please post your first ever Art buy put photos and story if possible.
