I then went on to try to get the 2nd one instead expecting it to be sold out - still said it was 'coming soon' - was gonna give up refreshing until it came up 'add to cart' and I managed to get it through quickly via a paypal payment (whilst trying not to panic!)
So lost the 1st when in cart, but bagged the 2nd one. Just.
Not a brag, and not wanting to sell - just liked the print (all art is subjective)
I just wanted to let people know that the system wasn't completely flawed as a genuine 'wanter' got it, BUT I am not surprised that it is a bit suspect on certain things as the evidence does seem to be stacking up on it. A shame really as genuine people miss out. And I thought it said that you can only have 1 version of the 2 so if you have got 2 I presume they'd only send 1?

lying to new and present collectors is not a good way to do business. anyone can handle missing a drop but lying about the amount that will be released and lying to people who contact as soon as they see something they like is not "just life" it annoying. What is a good collector ? Best keep some back to flog on, and some for good collectors, get over it already, its life.

This may well be my first post to a general board - not sure. Just got lucky on getting the 2nd today I think but have missed out on many others before - was just wanting to contribute to show that genuine 'refreshers' and buyers did get through - but was purely down to luck of the fastest finger I presume?

Saying there was a 5 minute cart system in place was misleading. What GP should have said was that you've got 5 minutes from the step AFTER adding to cart. Basically, you've got 5 minutes to pay after clicking checkout. That still makes it fastest finger first, but now you've got two steps to get through! Add to cart + checkout = 5 minutes.
Finally, and a point that I haven't seen mentioned yet, Shopify activate the add to cart buttons sooner for some people than for others. It's probably random but that means the prints are well sold out by the time some people even get the chance to add to cart. For example, some people managed to buy version 2 between 3:05pm and 3:08pm but for some people it didn't even go live until around 3:10pm.
I think GP will find that there is an uneven balance between US orders and UK orders.
What a waste of everyone's time.

If shopify favours faster connections then I might as well not bother next time. I think going back to the lottery would be the better option so it takes Internet connection and carts out of the equation (not that I ever was lucky enough to win anything on a lottery).

Carted one, refreshed my checkout screen (w/ stickers in cart), after hitting Complete Checkout it was gone. Wonder when the "5 min checkout" kicks in, because it certainly didn't kick in for me. Perhaps trying to bypass steps messed things up.

I would gladly pay a couple of pounds for some EINE stickers rather than wasting time removing them from the card. |

Its advertised as if once you add an item to your cart you have five minutes to complete the checkout process.
The fix is simple: Remove the add to cart button, add a purchase button, after clicking purchase the system checks availability, if its available your moved to checkout if not your told the item is unvailable. Its not rocket science.
The other option is to change the view cart button to checkout. Currently you can't proceed to checkout without viewing your cart. That make sense if your Amazon and your customers are buying multiple items. But for a drop in most cases it just one item. So just move to checkout.

Personally, I buy it for the Image and Number. If I don't get the number 3, I don't buy it. That philosophy seems to work for my toddler...

How many people would buy an image without a signature? What is this, Roseberys Auction House? Personally, I buy it for the Image and Number. If I don't get the number 3, I don't buy it.
