Remember you buy the picture/image not the signature Well, not necessarily true. How many people would buy an image without a signature? What is this, Roseberys Auction House? Personally, I buy it for the Image and Number. If I don't get the number 3, I don't buy it. That philosophy seems to work for my toddler...
Your right, some wouldn't buy without certain signatures, but some do, I do.........
And I happy knowing that I look at that piece for one reason only.
No worries

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by meloveart66 on Nov 23, 2016 9:42:25 GMT 1, Here you go. I took screenshots of the inventory before the drop. If you thought it was impossibly hard to score one... well, it was. Prefab added for comparison. Honest collector here just wanting a fair shot, so when I see stuff like this, it turns me off. free image upload So where is Graffiti prints with the explanation of this inventory issue? Announcing a release of 75 prints while there are just 33/35 available is just lying!! Where did the other prints go? Are these maybe the ones available on e-bay? Who knows? Because of the proof showed here…the credibility of GP and even MW is at stake. It was announced before the release: NO PRESALES! Why not?? Now it gets clear…because there was no 75 prints available!
Thanks MW & GP for making people believe they had a fair change to get one of the 75 prints…just wasting their time. Where did the other prints go??

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by Art Fan 2011 on Nov 23, 2016 10:12:41 GMT 1, Of course there were pre-sales! Expect some will of been kept back for various "charitable" ebay auctions over the coming months. Whatson has been quiet for a while, no doubt 2017 will bring plenty more release madness. GP should just build a bespoke site and then they can decide exactly how they wish the sales process to be handled and remain in total control.

You failed the Stanford Marshmallow Experiment.
It's all about delayed gratification.
This could potentially have been more fun — if only you'd waited for a robust denial before publishing your evidence.

No preorder means that it's no point for everyone to send a mail befour the release asking if it's possible to preorder one.
Stop whining!
Ps: I didn't get any.

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by kapusta on Nov 23, 2016 17:41:08 GMT 1, I guess there's nothing for them to add. This is probably standard practice in this scene. You can peek into the inventory count of most Shopify sites (though there's probably a way to hide this), so only now are we getting a glimpse behind the scenes. I've been pretty fortunate to score some in-demand Whatson's from GP before. I can only imagine how many of those were held back too.
Really wanted at least one Still Life from yesterday's drop. Not for the flip, but to keep. Hopefully some of the remaining copies surface at a fair price for the rest of us.

You have a better chance of seeing Father Christmas than getting one of these at a fair price on the secondary market.

This was just a really small, and immensely popular release. That's it folks!
But coming on here and demanding GP to explain "what happened" is ridiculous.

I recall one gallery offering different variants on offer and the most popular was sold out before drop day but not disclosed. So 0% available. Be a shame if GP doesn't come on here because of these comments.
Today's Whatson is tomorrow's chip paper.
Kind of.

I not going to try and defend anyone with my two pence worth but if you have been around the market for a while you will understand that this is normal procedure. A printer will always keep a number back for the artist /gallery and spares, the amount varies.Take Laz for example, how do you think he has so many prints? It's not because he is buying them back at today's rates. He has more than likely always had them. The last time my F5 finger saw this much action was in the last few online banksy sales (and I bet they were not all available)

I'm sure that the majority of Laz's prints are from his collection, hence their immaculate condition, but he does also buy prints.

I agree, the fact that they felt the need to state no pre-sales and gave the impression "most" of the prints would be up for grabs, gave us all a little hope. To then only put up for sale 2/3 or 1/2 of the run is a little disappointing.
We all know pre-sales happen, and prints are help back for shows, fairs, charitable donations etc - thats just the way it works so just be honest about it, then the only thing we can all moan about is simply missing out on the few that were available!

I can affirm too that I had the prior too for some " artworks " Just asking before . I think that really there is in fact only 25 or 35 % really In sale st the drop. So you have no chance to get one, others have softwares ( same as trader in Wall Street etc ) , That make shortcuts to get the print quicker ... F5 is a lure...
I think most people know the crack with galleries and how they operate. But the issue with most people on the release was the fact that GP said, no pre orders we are selling the whole edition on the drop. I agree, the fact that they felt the need to state no pre-sales and gave the impression "most" of the prints would be up for grabs, gave us all a little hope. To then only put up for sale 2/3 or 1/2 of the run is a little disappointing. We all know pre-sales happen, and prints are help back for shows, fairs, charitable donations etc - thats just the way it works so just be honest about it, then the only thing we can all moan about is simply missing out on the few that were available! yes well said.

Martin Whatson • Still Life 2 Print, by meloveart66 on Dec 1, 2016 12:10:59 GMT 1, So actually the galleries/artists themselves are part of the flipper industry they condemn so much? Always thought so. Haha… I remember GP with the Kunstrasen Spot Remover release was announcing proudly to block the orders from people selling on eBay…haha what a farce/joke. Just be honest…GP in this case is losing it's credibility more and more.
Luckily i missed out on this Whatson print and saved some funds, there are these days so many other lovely prints available

You know how they have the same software as the city traders? They ARE the city traders.
